1. This coach has to go. He won’t. But things will not improve until he does.
2. Remember when people thought we had “too much” skill in the organization? Lol
Wait…
Your position is that Power is terrible and although he is set to make 8.35 million dollars until 2031 while being terrible…he’s bringing back what exactly? Because other teams will be bidding up the return for a guy you claim is the worst…and paid a ton…forever?
That is insane troll logic.
It doesn't look like Granato is telling them to do anything differently. They look like they aren't doing what they were doing with any urgency and no one is scoring any finesse goals with any regularity. They are still a one-and-done rush team that regularly blows the zone early. I don't see some sort of fundamental shift that indicates they're now all dead puck in their approach.
This made me chuckle.
Granato may be back. But, Matt Ellis needs to go ASAP. Or, he at least needs to be replaced as the guy responsible for the Sabres PP.
We need an elite forward and trading Owen Power is the best way to accomplish that.
Now that we've acquired another competent puck mover, Joki doesn't have to be that, which is good. But I 100% agree, that now my concern with him is that he's not physical, and that's what we really need to fill out the D.Agree, and my concern is that Joker is playing well, but just doesn't have the value because of so many years of being misused by the coaching staffs here. He is definitely worth more on the ice than he is going to return, so that is an immediate loss, not to mention that I think Jokiharju is still from from a finished product, there is more ceiling there and someone may get a steal.
Unfortunately, Joker is not physical enough, so he doesn't bring what this group sorely needs. With Johnson being cheap, and Power having the upside he has, Joker probably is the logical cost-cutting move, but I agree, losing him will make the team worse and the return likely won't address a real need.
The only silver lining is that moving on from Joker could help address the problem of having three too soft defenders in the lineup regularly, so that might be something...
He could be if the trading partner sees him as a future #1 D and elite PP QB.We need an elite forward and trading Owen Power is the best way to accomplish that.

I don't see any reason to have to move one of Power/Dahlin/Byrum. Nashville made it work for years and so did Tampa. That might be the case long term. No one is touching that massive dice roll of a contract. Adams has assured us that Power isn't going anywhere for the near term.
Part of the problem is that Power is going to have a hard time putting up numbers to justify that contract because he simply isn't going to get PP unit time. He's now competing with Byram for 2nd unit minutes. What other team is going to see: Oh, 30 points for 8M dollars for the next 7 years? Sign me up.
Adams has put us a bind with now ~27.5M dedicated to LHD next year, 3 of which should probably be on PP1 for most teams. And that is only for 1 season, Byram is a RFA in 2025 (same time as quinn and Peterka), so we are potentially looking at 30M+ for our top 4 d-men moving forward in 2025 and beyond.
Just a terrible decision by the front office last summer. I think Owen Power certainly has the potential to be an elite defensemen. And yes, you can PAY for potential. But you need more than an OK rookie season to justify it the kind of deal he was given. And then you go and make the issue worse by getting another d-man that is going to have to get paid the next summer.
I honestly don't know how you reasonably make this work long term. We are going to have to move 1 of Power/Dahlin/Byram next year. Unless Byram completely busts next year and signs his QO.
Adams has created a lose/lose scenario. If Byram is great, he's gotta be traded because we can't pay him, Power, and Dahlin. If he sucks, we are stuck with his 4.6M qualifying offer and will have to trade him for pennies on the dollar.
This made me chuckle.

There are two types of sabre fans, people who like Owen Power and the others who are jealous of his hair because they are malding. He is young enough with 1 OA hype that teams will bite. But there isn't much time before that will wear off.
Nobody is trolling

Its paper so he can play in the AHL playoffs, should they make it.Good. Let him get some time down there on the playoff push and then in the playoffs. Long term that will be very good for him.
((Assuming this isn't just a paper transaction to free up a roster spot for something else))

Well what player should we target? I understand but we are stuck with it, sophomore slump I think he will turn it around and it will be a fair contract I see a 50-60 point defenseman who is an elite even strength transition player who is getting those 3rd assists while being good locking it down.Sure we can make a trade like that... but its about getting rid of that 8 mill as well.
Hard to say.. don't know who is available. I'd like Tckchuk but I doubt he is. Will have to wait until the summer to see who is availableWell what player should we target? I would like tckachuk but i feel like power has the potential to be apart of the best d core in a few years we need our forwards to better at sustaining zone pressure our transition is going to be dynamite we need our players to start gelling more our longest tenured Sabre was just traded away making skinnervthe player with the most games played besides girgs of course. We are still a very fresh core with Thompson at 26 being our second oldest player in a top six role and we are still working young guys in right now the core isn't finished but the d is looking stacked.Hard to say.. don't know who is available. Power and Savoie for Cooley and Crouse. Picks and prospects to balance it out either way. It is silly season after all. And Arizona really likes tall players.Well what player should we target? (I think Power is going to be fine. He's still got major baby hippo vibes and that's a good thing.)
