Hertl going to Vegas.

Do some of you get it yet that teams don’t care about the cap. They upgrade and worry about it after.

It’s maddening reading posters worrying about RFA contracts down the road in here.

We’re f***ed of our front office is worried about it.
nothing makes my eyes glaze over faster than when I see lineup & cap space projections 2, 3 ,4 years down the road.

If we start doing it then they will changes the rules around it.

Good teams identify good players and act now. Bad teams worry that they might have to do work in two or three or four years to make it work.

Players also want to go to good teams, warm weather, cheaper taxes. I agree that Adams has the biggest summer of his life coming up and no it's not a Disney movie promo

So, zero salary retentions. No use of our cap room. At some point, we have to come to terms with the reality that Terry Pegula will only spend so much money on this team. We can still be successful -- and even win a cup -- but it's a handicap. I believe Kevyn Adams can succeed, but life is not always fair as a Sabres fan. I resent Pegula because he promised something different. Golisano never did. He told them not to lose money.

Players want to go to winning teams. Florida was a joke where players got retirement contracts for nearly 20 years. They're well run and win - the other parts are just gravy. If Vegas was a shit stain on the ice, players wouldn't be interested in going there. It's not the weather or taxes that make the difference, it's winning.

If Girgensons still being on the team isn't a sign that Terry absolutely does pay attention and is constantly meddling, I don't know what is.

And I like Gus - but it's time to move on.

I think Girgensons is just here to help keep things on the rails through the end of the season. Both on ice, as a responsible "center" and in the room. Disappearing Okie, EJ, and Girgs all at once wouldn't have been a responsible changing of the leadership guard imo.

If Girgensons is the one keeping this organization on the rails, god help us all.

Winning is fore front for sure but Winnipeg wins and it feels like they can't attract big fish...

If that's true Canada will never again win a Cup.
I think that is a problem that Canadian teams are having. NTC/NMC are a killer

Defending champion Las Vegas - the cap isn’t real. Winning is real. Futures aren’t real. Only now is real.

Adams with his team on the longest playoff drought in NHL history - Have to be careful about that future cap! (Every year as they horde futures and spend at or near the bottom of the league)

I was using EP's roster data. I'm not sure where else to look for that.

I can't think of a younger team from the modern era. Teams were typically older in the past, so I doubt many would beat that.

I don't know where to look either, but my guess would be that one of the WHA teams coming in during the merger may have been ridiculously young, most of the oilers stars were teenagers their first couple of seasons (I think they had Gretzky, Messier, Coffee, Glenn Anderson, and Kurri all playing as teenagers - insane).... Although I think Cowboy BIll Flett was on that team and he was probably 50+ by then :sarcasm:

All Buffalo has to do to follow the Vegas model is move to a location where UFAs what to go

I bet if this team were the Honolulu Sabres, they could easily trade all their futures and still have a relatively easy time filling out their roster with quality players :sarcasm:

Another year of not mortgaging the future, thank goodness
This is not a response to you, but I always find it funny when people use that phrase as a way of saying you shouldn't do something now.

Mortgages are literally how most of the world owns the homes they live in. That's how the world works. You mortgage the future so you can live a good life in the meantime.
