Berube claimed by the Isles. Not a huge loss, didn't seem like he fit with the Kings long term plans.

Not huge but the Kings have put in the time to develop him. Sucks a little.

Bartosak becomes a little bit more important now depth wise.

After Vey and Loktionov, I have trust in their decision making. Hickey was due to waivers more than anything. I think they would like to have kept him.

Can you guys give any scouting reports on him? I know he hasn't seen NHL action but I guess that's going to happen when you have Quick and Jones in front of you.

This is an article about Berube from June after he helped the Monarchs win the Calder Cup

among other things cited:
Last season, the 24-year-old, 6-1, 177-pound native of Repentigny, Quebec played in 52 regular season games (3,025 minutes) with the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, earning a 37-9-4 record, with a 2.18 goals-against average (GAA), a .913 save percentage and two shutouts.

In the 2015 Calder Cup Playoffs, Berube played in 17 games (1,019) minutes, earning a 13-3 record, with a 2.30 GAA, and a .898 save percentage, helping lead the Monarchs to the Calder Cup Championship.

and

He’s gotten better each year,” said Kings goaltending coach Bill Ranford. “Last year was his first year getting that opportunity, being thrown into a starting role, and this year, he really ran with it, being the number one guy from the start of the year, right until the end.”

“He was [first] in the league in wins, which is a great feat in the American Hockey League,” added Ranford. “We were hoping Bartosak would battle for a little more time, but he was so good that it was hard not to go back to him. We’re ecstatic with the type of year he had.”

He doesn't have value, goaltenders with ZERO NHL experience and who many think don't have an NHL future won't garner much in trades.

So it's cool to lose organizational depth and a guy that a lot of development time went towards for nothing? Got it.

Not crying that a trade wasn't made: just saying it is lame.

Their likely wasn't a trade to be made. Why you would think anybody would give up something for what will likely amount to a career AHL'er/emergency backup is beyond me.

Again, goalies who haven't even stepped on NHL ice for over 4 years while in the pros aren't going to get you anything through trade.

Stop sniffing DL's jock and realize that I said it's lame to lose a guy for nothing. Never said they could trade him. Ask the Kings if they are happy about it and they will say the same.

Again, I've been following this **** for years so I don't need multiple experts to teach me about the trade value of a #3 goalie.

Did the Kings just lose him for nothing? Sure did. Does that suck? Sure does. That's all my posts implied so ease up on the "DL couldn't do anything" replies.

"Lose him for nothing." But what were they going to get in return if not nothing? Who was going to give them anything? Would they continue to keep him, take up a pro contract and a roster spot and sink more development time? I'm sure they wanted to keep him but it is not like this is a massive loss to the system. To imply they "Lost him for nothing" assumes that he would have garnered something in the first place.

He is an average goaltending prospect.

Berube? Really? Who cares! He served a purpose and that was backstopping the Monarchs and helping the guys in front of him develop. Minor leaguers with little to no value get waived all the time. You still need to ice a full team to work with the prospects who actually will make it in your organization. It's the same in every single sport which have minor league affiliates.

damn...the goalie factory is being shelled....Bernie, Jones, JFB...i hope there's guys coming

Nope

Hickey was waived because, Muzzin and Hickey were both out of options.

The Kings brass picked Muzzin, it was the correct choice.
