Lucic is the best LW right now.

Also, when King comes back, maybe Shore goes to the AHL since the Kings have Lewis and Weal who can play center. Shore has been invisible.

Well i think its time for Sutter to Bench Gaborik for a Game. Let him sit in the press box. Get his mind to look at the game from up top. People are probably going to scream and yell a little with the lines i am about to do, so get ready folks.

Pearson-Kopitar-Lewis
Lucic-Carter-Toff
Brown-Shore-Weal
Clifford-AA-Nolan

Defense keep the same.

When Gaborik had his great playoff run he scored most of his goals from the dirty areas. He doesn't have the explosivity to be a perimeter player anymore.

I am really hoping for a full youth movement in the next couple years with the only older players being Doughty, Carter, Kopitar and Quick.

The roster is so much better without Stoll, Richards', Williams, etc.

Andreff, Shore, Pearson, Toffoli, and Weal all make it much more exciting.

I would like to see more of Forbort and a full time Mersch and Kempe soon.

This year we are competitive and DL will not be trying Lucic, Brown, or Greene in my eyes. I would love him to trade Greene and dump Browns contract but his MO is opposite of that.

We have some cap cushion this year so he doesn't necessarily have to move Greene and Brown as Kopitar and Lucic are still Kings. It sounds like Kopitar and the Kings have been talking and the gap isn't that far so I believe he is top priority as he should be.

By December/ January we should know if we will be expanding by 1 or 2 teams. Brown, Greene, and Gabby could techniqually by exposed if the draft were to happen after this season and if one or two is taken, it would relieve a lot of future cap difficulty. Each one is an important cog, either on ice or in the room but at this point their burden on the cap going forward outways their contributions.

We have young guys in Merch, Forbert, Gravel, Kempe, Zykov that could use extra time this year to improve and mature for next season.

I say stay the course while we are winning, bank up some cap relief for the deadline, see at that time what the league will do with expansion and then make decisions. Guys like Shore, Forbert, Andy A, may not be ideal at this time but as long as we are winning they are gaining experience and we are banking cap space.

Can't wait to see how DL lets everything play out. It will be an interesting and exciting year on and off the ice.

To be frank, I think we're doing that already, it's just a slow roast and that's not fast enough for many here.

Look at how much outgoing vs. incoming talent we've had in the last few years, we've absolutely gotten younger and faster. Lucic is in his prime. Sekera was as well. Ehrhoff is arguably a vet and desperation move. Outgoing we've had (not a complete list) Scuderi, Mitchell, Voynov, Williams, Stoll, Richards. That's a LOT of experience to give up, ability and age be damned, in favor of Shore, Andreoff, Forbort, probably Mersch, maybe Kempe, maybe Gravel.

I don't think you can or SHOULD completely wipe your roster of vets in favor of youth, they need some insulation, even if the insulation sucks (see Calder, Kyle, and Nagy, Ladislav, etc.). Look at Edmonton. Look at Calgary. The youth is obviously uber-talented and will take over sooner rather than later in some cases but explosive change is almost never good unless you're a bottom feeding team with no assets.

I'm certain we will see what you're asking for, I think a lot of folks don't have the patience and ask to ship Gaborik out and put Weal in after one game, for example.

I don't think people realize how good Lewis is at forechecking and cycling the puck while wearing the opposing team down. None of our bottom 6 is remotely close to his level.

When people talk about the Kings identity - being heavy, hard to play against, etc, it's guys like Lewis that are responsible for that identity.

my feelings as well. he's a quiet guy that works hard, brings it every night and does the little things that go unnoticed. I consider him to be the quintessential 'glue' guy in terms of what he does on the ice. If only he could finish, his value would increase tenfold

Hey, as a fantasy owner, what's up with Gaborik? Is it a case of doing the right things and just being snake bitten? Or has his play truly fallen off?

I have to drop either him or A. Anisimov in my points only league, and I'd be curious to hear opinions from those who watch him game in and game out.

Snake bitten, as you can see here. Gaborik was riding in a helicopter at the time.

Actually, though his shooting percentage is a very low 3.4%, he's playing floaty and invisible.

But you broke the first rule of fantasy hockey: you drafted a King.

He's floating out there. Who knows when/if he snaps out of it. He could easily start a hot streak at any moment and become a force again so... good luck with that :)

There was an interesting proposal by a rags fan in the trade discussions thread. Something along the lines of

giradi at 5m + kovacs for gabby. Etem and erhoff were tacked on later.

Would you sacrifice gabbys punch from the wing for a dman? Is giradi a big enough d upgrade for the kings to target in a trade?

would love to be able to keep hold of Lucic - he gives us something we desperately needed with his presence in front of the net. I think Merch on the 3rd/4th line would compliment him well down the line as in being on the ice in a similar role when Lucic is on the bench.
going to be so hard to keep what we have - 20m and we need Kopi/Looch/Mcnabb/Lewis/Forbert/Enroth and 2 min salary players
hope Dean can work some magic and get a few brilliant deals done

He's not playing his game, and he was demoted in the last game, although he did have a good look or two.

I don't think he'll stay on the third line, but if you're looking for points only, I'd keep Anisimov.

No. Girardi is just a healthy Matt Greene in a big market, a one dimensional physical d-man who is losing it quickly. Overhyped when he's pumped elsewhere, but Rangers fans have been dumping on him every chance they get for years until someone else says something negative about him.

A certain hockey blogger is floating Kings are "eyeing" Iginla, would you do Gaborik for Iginla straight up?

When King gets back, then there's one more LW. Gaborik's switch to the right side hasn't worked so far, but then he's also done nothing from the left side this year either.

Right now, sure. Right now, I can't imagine Colorado would do that deal straight up. Something would have to be added from Lombardi. It's a bigger cap hit for Iginla, but the deal ends after next season. On that alone, forget about Gaborik's production, Lombardi would have to add something.

Gaborik plus what for Iginla? It has to be something to make it worth Colorado's time. Right now, they would be losing production, and future cap space in a straight up deal.

I disagree I think hes way better then greene, Hes playing close to 20 mins a game where greene was playing around 15. I also think that he would fit better in la then he does there. Our system would be a hell of a lot easier on him as he would get the help he needs from our forwards. In ny he doesn't get the forward support he would here imo. Every fan base has there whipping boys and Girardi is not as bad as hes made out to be. I think he could get his career back on track here.

He's really not much better than greene and if people here have a problem with defenseman that can't move the puck he's the second coming of Greene/Regehr in that regard for sure. My point is it's not really an upgrade and the only reason he's viewed as a good defenseman is the market he's in.

How can you seriously say that hes not much better when everything points to the reverse. Greene is lucky to play 12 -15 mins where girardi is playing 19 -20 mins Skating edge goes girardi Hes a year younger Only thing in greene favour is contract imo. We must be looking at two different defenseman cause I don't see what you are.
