Well they need D, and if say Martinez went the other way + maybe King or the like, we might be able to afford it.
ya but then our defence would be very very depleted

It blows my mind how many people want to get rid of Martinez, especially in the middle of a 6 game win streak. He's our 3rd best D-Man.
I have no problem with the #6D spot, it's the 3/4 I have an issue with
Pierre LeBrun claims the Kings have in fact found stability on their blueline, citing comments from assistant GM Rob Blake claiming their situation has sorted itself out. After dropping their first three games, the Kings have won six straight.
I think the Kings would love stay at home guy and preferably someone who is RH although that would be more of a luxury. That being said, who is out there and what do the Kings have of value that they could part with that would actually be enough to acquire that type of player. I just don't see it unless there was a real roster shake up and some good pieces were going the other way.
I don't like to be superstitious but the Kings start this year is eerily similar to last year. Although, at least nobody has been arrested or accused of having drug/mental issues.
EDIT: oh and McNabb is looking better and better each game. I think that trade is going to pay off big time for the Kings in the long run.
If nothing else, I would argue that the emergence of several players/youth has made it so we DO have assets for trade if we need them.
How do you figure. Last year LA didn't win their 3rd road game till December.

Well, I didn't know that. But I do remember them losing the first few games then going on a 5 or 6 game winning streak. I guess that's what I was referring to.
I'd have to agree, I see a similarity thru these games as well, depending of Quick and the Carter line to get the job done, PP weak, not scoring enough goals and 1 goal games that have too many Scoring ops in the Kings end.
God forbid if TT gets hurt, he is the offense right now. Like last year , only 1 line producing.
Big difference I see is the compete level seems to much higher. I cannot pull any stats to prove that but I feel a lot better with the team effort so far this year opposed to last.
Who would you be willing to part with that has any value?
Yes and no. Yes, there are some prospects that could be traded by not for the high end players DL is seeking for the blue line. As for the 3C, I've not read or heard anything that would indicate he feels that is a need, which I think is a mistake.
The problem is that there are ALOT of teams looking for top 4 D and very few available , and they have high $$$.
I don't know that without adding a roster player of some significance, or a 1st round pick, if DL will get the top 4 d he is still searching for, mostly due to the fact it's a seller's market.
Agree. And our 2nd d pair looks solid. Last year 30 minutes of Drew was less than ideal.
Debate the merits of relying on Corsi too much all you want, but at least it does show which teams have the puck and which don't. Here is the major difference between the team after last year's 6-game win streak (2nd image) and this year's 6-game win streak (1st image):
Also, the Kings were riding unsustainably high even strength shooting and save percentages last season. This season the shooting percentage is unsustainably low and the save percentage is much more realistic. All those things combined bode much better for the Kings than did the underlying numbers after the 6-game win streak last season.

Many of us said that with the Voynov situation and Sekera walking, the Kings no longer had the luxury of keeping Muzzin and Doughty together. Thankfully, Muzzin was dropped to the second pairing pretty quickly
