with the injuries to forward any interest in Kassian?
24 years old big, fast right wing...my thought is when the team is healthy he would make Nolan disposable. Kassian only has this year remaining and then is an RFA so if it does not work out no big loss

edit: nevermind he cleared

I smellz a trade by dec 31st

That's not a trade you're smelling. Sorry, it was me.

Crack a window or something.

Cow's getting back at us for eating too much In-N-Out by destroying the planet!!!

I was looking at the cap for next year and how to get the upgrades the team needs to work with the cap. Pretty much the choice is between one of Lucic or Brown, then picking up a vet 3C and a D. Lucic is better then Brown, and it isn't even close. The team needs to transfer Brown's salary to the center position. So would could the Kings actually get with Brown? Lets face it there are a lot of replacement options for a 3rd line winger that doesn't score and isn't great at defense.

So some trade targets....

Jordan Staal: $6 AAV, signed long term bad contract/long... could the Kings swap bad contract?

Bolland: $5.5: Another bad contract, not as long as Brown's... been brought up before.

Dubinsky: $5.85: Lombardi's been fleecing CBJ for some time, so however unlikely you have to at least look at CBJ.

Bozak/Phanuef: Bozak is a little cheaper then most options around 4.2 and only signed for a couple years... saving a couple million there would allow the Kings to absorb Phanuef's cap hit.

Kesler: Lets face it.... this contract is as bad as Browns and his NTC doesn't kick in until the summer.

Thornton: :naughty: Ok this isn't happening, and the Kings would have to find some way of dumping Browns contract.

Getzlaf: Ducks are going into full rebuild mode, or will be shortly. Getzlaf is struggling and signed long term, he'd fit in great behind Carter. AAV's probably still too high.

Edit: Swapping Brown's cap hit to the center position would help balance the salary structure of the team. J.Staal might be an obtainable target for Brown.

I think Bozak would be the perfect #3, but I do not see Toronto taking on Brown's deal. Then you toss in Dion on top of that!! I do not see how LA would sweeten the pot enough for Toronto.
Brown's contract maybe the worse in the league other than Clarksons.
AS for the other,
J Stall still has value, Bolland I got yelled at for suggesting (though no one said why other than him being an d-bag), you're dreaming if you think Dl can turn Brown into Kessler...and I hate kessler but he is obviously the better current player, you admit Thornton is a no go. Not even going to touch Getz.

would deal Brown for JStaal in a heartbeat

guy is a machine on faceoffs last few years, hits a lot, and still has some offensive potential

relatively overpriced yes, but that'd be your 3C right there

ask why Carolina would make that deal? What would the kings have to add? Can we afford it?
Maybe they a re big on Forbort

not sure what their organizational needs are, was just agreeing that JStaal would be a good target for a vet 3C, although pricy. maybe we don't have the cap space.

I would immediately trade Brown+Forbort+any prospect not named Kempe for Jordan Staal.

I think it would take a lot more than that to get Carolina to take Brown. It's worse than you think.

No ****ing thank you to trading Kempe away. We've traded too much youth already, time to let a high end prospect like that break in. And I actually like J. Staal.

if it gets rid of brown's contract I would be all for it. Not saying I would willingly.
If weal and a pick was the sweetener for Ricahrds what would the sweetener for brown be?
Who's contract is worse. Brown's or richards last year?

Trading Kempe to get rid of Brown would be as logical as trading Toffoli to get rid of Richards, which some delusional Leafs fans were expecting to happen, LOL.

I'd rather just go through a buyout process and sit on dead cap space with Brown than to give up a talent like Adrian Kempe.

TT had already been proven at the NHL level. TT>>>Kempe as a prospect IMO

If the deal was not just unloading Brown but getting a good player (aka J Staal) back i could be convinced it is worth it

brown > lucic, if cap is the only issue here. lak's chronic disease so far is developing bottom six. brown is, considering the metrics, the mvp for that task. best wowy, best dcorsi, he makes his linemates better, even andreoff or nolan. lucic is somehow replaceable, brown not so.

You're not being serious are you? Brown makes Lucic look like Wayne Gretzky.

Brown is owed 21 million dollars of REAL money in the next three seasons.

Think about that folks, 21 MILLION DOLLARS. That has to come out of someones pocket. It's why Richards was so toxic, Richards was due about 16 Million over the next three seasons. The Arizona Coyotes total operating losses last season was around 20 million. THAT is a lot of money.

It is going to take a quite lucrative deal to move Brown in any capacity over the next two seasons.

By Lucrative, I mean for the other teams benefit, not the Kings.
