I would go with neither. Both are overpaid. Both are liabilities, but Hamhuis is softer than Schultz and has fallen off hard. Yandle has offensive instincts and maybe would be better in this system, but i feel like one could do better, cheaper. And neither solves our real problem of a guy to munch minutes as a #3 in all situations (Hamhuis could do it, but not well imo).

Do you mean both WILL be overpaid? I am talking about what you think their next contracts will be like

Yeah, sorry, they WILL be overpaid when we can acquire them I mean. Big name, top-4 d-men--lots of teams will be after them, and they'll get paid for past work. I'd rather have Martinez and Muzzin for the cost/role, and I don't think either guy adequately replaces McNabb as the 4th man in our top 4, not for their cost, anyway.

Dammit.

Per Rosen, Lewis being evaluated for an upper-body injury, and it's at least significant enough that they're considering a roster move despite the Reign being in Charlotte. Still hope that he may be available this weekend, but it's hard for me to picture a scenario where someone is hurt enough to consider a roster move but healthy enough to walk in and play a back-to-back...

too bad Mersch cant play center. Im happy enough with how Shore has played but Weal has been a disappointment. hopefully Lewie is ok

I think we need to give Jordan Weal more than 25 minutes in the NHL before we talk about how disappointing he is.

you can give him 1000 min it wouldn't matter if hes only playing 5 mins a game hes a disappointment in my eye Until you give him a real shot at significant mins hes going to disappoint Sorry i know you and others are high on him but hes not going to do much when hes playing under 10 a game

I think most of us assumed Weal would receive about 20-25 games, Weal has played 3 in 24 games total so far.

So Weal is behind on a 20 game pace. But it's not at all, way off on our own projections for him.

Fair enough.

His 25 minutes so far has been extremely disappointing. So much so that I don't blame Sutter for sitting him. We can't afford the turnovers and jittery play in such a short period of time that we've seen from the guy.

And I like Weal.

That's fine, but just imagine the list of guys whose careers would never have gotten started if you buried them before they got half an hour of NHL ice time.

It's fair to say he's been a disappointment when he has played, but he's been largely invisible because, well, so has his playing time. Whether I and other are high on him or not is irrelevant.

That's a hell of a bus ride.

I really do like Nolan, but yeah - he's maddeningly inconsistent with his play, and too prone to turnovers.

If he could just clean that up and be a bit more consistent, the 4th line would be in even better shape considering he's basically dead weight there right now.

It's just so frustrating to watch because you can tell the potential is there, it's just only present in short bursts of brilliance followed by long stretches of "what in the **** are you doing"

The potential left two seasons ago. Since his suspension he seems to be a different player, doesn't hit or do any of the things that got him into the NHL. He seems at times complacent and flat out lazy with his board play, and continues to take really bad penalties. The last two have cost the team momentum and goals, yet Sutter continues to throw him out there game after game.

I think thats fair but his first game was bad...so bad that I didnt expect to see him play again for a long time. he got muscled off the puck that directly lead to a goal against and I know Sutter hates that ****. he just doesnt look ready at all. on the other hand, Shore took his chance and is making the most of it

It's hard to be happy with Nolan's game this season, and the first 2/3 of last season. I thought he looked good with Shore and Clifford last season.

Nolan's tough, because when he's on his physical game, he's a pretty solid fourth liner. Every once in a while he flashes a ton of skill, and I get excited, then he disappears again. He doesn't hustle like he did upon first call-up. With his dad being who he is, I'm surprised he isn't full of hustle.

Blew out his back carrying so much weight at the end of his arms.

Agreed 100%. Give Weal a fair shot, then let's see if he's ready or not.

Many forget that Muzzin was pretty bad for more than a year, and now look at him!

Muzzin is going to be brought up every time a Kings rookie or young player is called up and stinks up the joint.

Similar to 15-20 years ago how every late round draft pick who was lighting up junior was the next Luc Robitaille.

Perspective is important. Muzzin was a kid with injuries from the Pens who we coached the **** out of. He was the successful Moulson and Purcell.

Toffoli is our Luc and we taught him how to skate. I guess Brodzinkski is the guy to Luc all over.

Doesn't have to be Muzzin. How about Martinez? Or Pearson? In fact, how many of our players have looked good before 30 minutes of icetime?

I don't really have any interest in belaboring this point. Just pointing out how foolish it is to bury someone so early.

I have faith that if the Kings keep drafting kids that fit their system and have some talent that the development program will turn a fair percentage of them into NHL players.

It's not like they need to bat 1.000. Batting around .300 would be more than adequate.

this is crucial. the game is getting younger and the know-how about transition from minor leagues to nhl is more and more valuable. late bloomers will drop off first.

weal: sure, too early to call him a late bloomer, but he'll need to exploit every chance that he gets, as sutter will not give him many.
