Reading some of the comments from Swedish posters here made me believe I was reading Aftonbladet. Sadly I'm not. Who are you guys to call Henrik out, call him names and especially tell him that he is not welcome home anymore. You speak like you OWN the guy and control his decisions. That is not being a hockey fan, thats just being a ****. Hah! What a sad cause.

Henrik's played more hockey than any other player over the past 18 months. The guy needs his rest. And to a fanbase that's willing to call him a spineless punk for declining an invite to a meaningless tournament, quite frankly I'm not surprised he said no.

And if the organization said no for him, well, they have him under contract for $6million per year. He's their property and risking a long-term injury might not be worth the risk.

**** you Henrik Sedin. Piece of ****. You were healthy the entire year+playoffs and now all of a sudden you're too injured to play? Tell the ****ing truth, that you don't want to play.

I understand you Daniel, though.

I never want to see these two in the national team again. Definitely not in the 2014 olympics. Always terrible there anyways. Chokers.

Stop crying

They are the two least passionate hockey players I've ever seen. Imagine how good they'd be if they played like they care and had an edge.

Finns still have national pride, Swedes don't. Wonder why..:sarcasm:

A first line of Eriksson-Zetterberg-Landeskog seems pretty decent?

Hmmm. Team Finland won't have that many NHL players this year, so I don't know about that national pride of Finnish players. Anyway, I think it's good that players don't go if they're not interested. There are plenty of players who would pay to get to the team. I guess NHL coaches also prefer players who want to play in team instead of players saying:"*sigh*, do I have to go Columbus? Can't I just skip that game?"

It's nice that Sweden will have a good team this year. At least you have plenty of good players even when some players decline.

Now i dont understand, according to NHL.com Henrik Sedins decides on Friday.

Vancouver forward Daniel Sedin declined to join Sweden's entry. Sedin missed the end of the regular season and start of the Canucks' first-round series with Los Angeles because of a concussion. His twin brother, Henrik, said he would decide Friday if he is going to play in the tournament or not.

Henrik is out too, according to Garpenlöv in Expressen.

Koivu S. and Selänne declined.

PS. If NHL:ers read these boards they would become nuts after a week. Or wait...

I guess you guys are happy for him now then, it would have been tough for him to play in the Stanley Cup.

Henrik isn't gaining in popularity back home in Sweden by this, however I guess, once the WC is over few will actually care about this.

Can't say I'm not dissapointed though...but let's focus on those who actually shows up.

ehhh, The medical staff said no to Daniel. Henrik is another person.

How can you tell?

Besides, I based what I said on the Expresen link where Henrik said:
- Vi har träffat Vancouvers läkare och klubbledning i dag och efter de samtalen blivit uppmanade att inte åka och spela VM,

Koivu S. and Selänne declined.

PS. If NHL:ers read these boards they would become nuts after a week. Or wait...

Indeed, Salo has declined too.

Yes what can one say. People watch zero Vancouver games but gets pissed off for this...

Meaningless to you. Not as meaningless to some here in Sweden. The national team is still pretty popular here. Henrik is turning his back on team Sweden, but that will be forgotten the day he represent Sweden again.

Well it's pretty difficult to watch Vancouver playing games right now...

So many D's. :scared:
In four days we should know. Bring Stalberg in already!
If we could add four or five of Edler, Backstrom, MoJo, Kruger, Stalberg, Hjalmarsson, Oduya, Silfverberg, Hagelin, Stralman, Karlsson I'll be happy.

that makes you a *****

Actually it don´t. Think you missed a biology class or two.

As said earlier, can´t get this obsession with getting players who are obviously banged up and have their head elsewhere. Get the ones who are motivated. Young players like Landeskog and Hedman, who have something to prove on the national team is the way to go. Guess Zetterberg and Franzén shouldn´t be allowed. They´ve skipped before.

Gonna be a stacked defense in years to come. Strålman has always been good at big ice, so he´s a nice condolence prize if Karlsson ain´t available friday morning. And if Edler says yes tomorrow that´s an insane d-corp... Agree with Stålberg. He may not bring the full package, but would love to see what his speed can do on big ice. As MoJo, if Capitals are eliminated.

No they haven't actually. Every year that Zetterberg's not played he's been in the 2nd round of the playoffs or better. All the other five times he's played in the WC, this will be the sixth straight. He even played regularly in the EHT during the lockout. Same for Franzen(third chance, third appearance), he wasn't good enough for the National team pre-lockout.

Yeah, it's great to have so many to choose from. Lets you build a very dynamic defense when you have different types to bring in.

Sedins also played regular in the EHT, 18 games to Zetterbergs 20, so that shouldn´t be held against them...

Even if it was after the 2nd round, both Zetterberg and Franzén declined in 2010 when there was a big part of the WC left. Ericsson made the jump and played 7 out of 9 games. Both Franzén and Zetterberg where banged up after playing a load of ice hockey the three seasons before and didn´t accept the invitation. I get why they didn´t come, much like Sedin(s) now. Looking at his stats Zetterberg, even if injured from time to time, must have played amongst the most games since the beginning of the lockout.

Yeah, it's great to have so many to choose from. Lets you build a very dynamic defense when you have different types to bring in.

Sure is. What I like is that all the parts are there. From the elite PMD to the 5-7 seventh roles. A smart GM/trainer can build a real team defense from that core. A dumber GM/trainer can pick a all star team that in the best of worlds could work.

Stalberg and Kruger has say yes. Hjalmarsson will tell his decision soon.
Now its up to swedish coach Marts if he take them in. i Think we have to wait until stanley cup round one are finished.

Oduya has it been quiet around.

Maybe we know earlier if anyone get a spot.

as a euro and Hawks Fan... will Hjammer, Krüger and or Stalberg play for Sweden?

In this articel it´s said they have their meetings with team management wednsday and then will see.
http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/article14730683.ab

This page keeps track. http://swehockey.se/Startsidesnyheter/2012/April2012/NHL-lagetinforVM/ (even though MÃ¥rts has said that Omark is there on try-out, something both Linus and Edmonton has accepted...)

The buzz is that Krüger really want´s to go. Mårts coached him in the junior national teams, so he now what´s he´s getting. Would be a perfect third- or fourth-line C. Maybe even second. Other than Zetterberg there´s a shortage. Not sure Bäckström will come due to his condition. On the other side, Bäckström is young and young athletes see it different.

Next in line:
Murray says his decision today as well
Edler after his meeting with team doctors tomorrow
