Pagnotta just said on NHL Network that it is leaning towards NJ unless the Isles step up with more $$
oh hmmm...where have i heard that one before....oh right, with Panarin right before he squeezed another half mil from the Rags and signed for less.

Sounds like Lou came in around $9.x M AAV, and the Devils are at $10M-ish AAV. But if true, sounds like the JG camp is giving the Isles a chance to up their offer?

Sounds like we are being used .....again. I've lived in NJ the past 25 years and been an Islanders fan my whole life and I can't see playing for the NJD. It is such a sterile , boring hockey environment. NJ is nice and is much closer to Philly than LI, but from a hockey standpoint, NJ has no juice.

Outside of us folks here, does the Island? What's the perception of the Islanders to outsiders? I have a feeling we're a big nothing to the rest of the hockey world.

The question is at what point (cost) does it become better to lose this fight? The Devils have much more money. Is this JT all over again (from a pure hockey standpoint, not with the other treasonous issues)? Does this contract become an albatross?

The insane energy of the crowd in the 2019 and 2021 playoffs and new arena, plus the winning in 2020 and 2021 changed the dynamic some.

I’d go up to 10 for him, that’s the max. But if we lose this because we didn’t want to boost our offer by 500K it will be devastating. Either way, with how deep we’ve gotten into this the usual July 1st feeling might come upon us.

Guys on NHL network seem to believe the Islanders are a way better fit for Gudreau than NJ. Not that their opinion means anything but maybe Gudreau and his camp possibly feel the same?
i mean it sounds like hes making a decision based on something other than 'the best fit', but sure that's nice...
