EDM is trusting Broberg with 10:32 TOI per game in 10 games.

NYI is trusting Bolduc with 10:35 TOI per game in 13 games.

Broberg is 6 months younger than Bolduc. I'm not sure trading for Broberg would give us something we don't already have. However, if EDM likes Bolduc and would make an even swap, then Broberg is waivers exempt and could go to the AHL if desired.
He's waiver exempt? I don't understand why they didn't send him down then. That makes no sense. He requested a trade because of his playing time, but the coach said he needs more time in the AHL...if he was waiver exempt I'm guessing he'd be there already.

Anyway, I just assumed he wasn't, because the coach came out and said he still believes he'll be a top 4 defenseman in the league...so figured they were just trading him cause they'll lose him on waivers anyway.

Whalstrom must be being showcased as I can’t figure how any hockey mind has him in the starting lineup, he basically is the Isles worst player. Needs to be sent down regardless if claimed or not
Lou does not send down players. He is so afraid of losing someone he does not care if it hurts the roster

As of December 6th the Isles are WC2. That's amazing in itself.

The Isles also have the 17th best defense in the league, and the thing that Lou sells as a defining stat, goal differential....-10. That's the worst of any team currently in a playoff spot. The only other playoff team under water is the Blues at -4.

Don't order your playoff tickets just yet.

I've said it before, i'll say it again. The team is out of position way too much. On one of sharks goal, Horvat and Mayfield both take one man and follow him behind the net, leaving the front wide open. The communication should be much better at this point and it's on the coaches. if they cant get the guys in the right position, if they cant get them to talk to eachother.....find another coach. it's enough now.

Lane shouldnt be venting to the cameras, he should have fixed this by now.

Mayfield f***s up and overreacts, completely leaving his man and putting Romanov in a terrible position.

We've seen this song and dance way too frequently and I agree, time is up.

I think that's a part of the attention to detail this team doesn't have anymore. If this is something that Lambert really has drilled into the team at practice and the guys still don't execute, the options are benchings for poor play or trading them out.

Scratch Mayfield and dress Grant Hutton in his place on Thursday? Mayfield would deserve it but I doubt Lambert would do that. Maybe Lambert noticed that Tortorella benched Joel Farabee Monday night after 1 shift and said in his post-game that it was because Farabee didn't listen. The Flyers are in the middle of the playoff chase too and Torts didn't hesitate to make that decision. Sometimes a bold move is called for.

Yea but the problem is this team already puts out once defenseman that plays sheltered minutes. Add Grant Hutton to the mix for Mayfield and that really puts the pressure on the top four. This is not in defense of Lane, but roster wise if the d is not playing well right now he is in a tough spot without many options.

I agree with your statement.

If Lambert can't/won't get his players' attention by handing out discipline, then it's time to get their attention with a new coaching staff.

Lane doesn’t want to upset the vets by benching one . I imagine benching Martin has already put a strain on his perceived command of the room. He knows his time here is limited and he needs the vets on his side( like Cizikas) in order to survive.

He’d have to delicately go the “ I think you need a rest to fully heal from your injury “ route with Mayfield.

Hutton looked like his old self with the big club and I’d put him in there to see if he will sink or swim. This team needs defensive d and Hutton is our best option in Bridgeport.

I'm just going by CapFriendly who shows Broberg as waivers exempt. I don't see Broberg as any kind of current solution, but if they could somehow send Bolduc in a trade for him and then send Broberg to the AHL to get tons of minutes, that would open up a spot at the NHL level on D and they don't lose Bolduc for nothing on waivers. But I'm not expecting anything....

Yup. Both followed below the goal line. the weakside rotated to the trail and left the backdoor open. The defensive coach is a problem. Guys are constantly running around. How do we expect our young guys to get better? Dobson has improved through playing more. Interesting.

Dobson used to play 30+ a night in juniors. It’s not the same skill level but it seems like he’s the type of guy who needs the additional ice time for his game to truly flourish.

My understanding was always that it's really hard to score from behind the goal or in the corner, and much easier to score from the slot. But our players constantly chase guys to non-dangerous areas and vacate the slot. It's maddening. On 2 other goals Mayfield and Lee were covering nobody in the high slot and left the doorstep open.

Wasn't that way under Trotz with most of the same guys playing.

I thought the Florida game was one of our best of the season. Good goals and for the most part limited high danger chances. Against a good team. Looked like they were turning a corner. So maddening.

He looks better defensively which is terrific.
Exactly my point. I like him playing with Pelech the best honestly. Best compliment to his game. Romanov and Pulock as well. If anything, test out Reilly with Dobson next game.
As for last game, Lane scratching Wallyworld was a massive plus. Offensively, the lines looked solid.

Glass half-full perspective: 5-1-2 in their last eight. Despite these horrendous meltdowns, they are still in a playoff spot. Just preventing half of these blown leads would put them in the top 3 of the conference. Very tight (weak?) division - only 2 points out of second place.
