Problem with Bolducs development is the Islanders play too many close low scoring games that don’t present the opportunity for him to get the 20-25 minutes needed. If the Islanders would get Some huge leads or get blown out it would give the coach some latitude to get him more minutes

Because they have been trying move Garland since the summer and are willing to eat 20% of the cap space to do so and still have not gotten a deal - also Garland has asked for trade and MGMT gave reps the permission to look for deal.

Vancouver is also looking for a 3C that can help the PK and Suter has not been able to fill that need.

They (Van) stormed out the gate but they are 2-4 the last 6 games and just lost to San Jose - getting another RHD and a 3C is critical for them moving forward
Okay but Hogland?

LOL. When Parrish was on the Islanders this board was in its infancy and nobody was watching the team.

I get it. Given the rise of more platforms and outlets to hear people's opinions there are more and more hot takes than ever before. They're fans. Not everyone sees it the same way.
Wasn't the internet in its infancy when Parrish played? What a weird comparison to make, lol. You are spot on.

What team plays a guy that much with such little experience absent the plague hitting the lineup mid-game?

The issue with Bo is fans have placed some weird expectations on the player. He’s a 55 point player. Like a ton of UFAs, he played really darn well in his UFA year on a team going nowhere (ie he can be selfish for his own benefit). He does play a strong overall game in many situations, better than most.

Where you seriously expecting Mat ‘I don’t make players around me better’ Barzal to then Bo into a 30-40 goal scorer?

Tavares turned scrubs into consistent goal scorers, when they left JT, reality set in. Barzal? He has not made one single player on the Islanders better during his tenure. Eberle meshed with him, but was run out of town by the fans.

The issue with the Isles is the draft picks turned players maxed out as good to not so good players, no needle movers, earth shakers. Certainly, no premium talent (Dobson is getting there. Sorokin can be there, subject to his playoff performances). Dallas has anchor contracts in Benn and Seguin, they are being offset by their draft picks delivering as their draft picks. The isles players are not.

I’d keep Horvat everyday all day and trade away Barzal. Just like when he was out of the lineup last year, the teams play settled down, players knew what to do and where.

Bo eclipsed 31 goals the two previous seasons, 35 isn't unrealistic. I never bought into him being a 52 goal scorer, but 30-35 is more than reasonable. Whether he meshes with Barzal or not, he shouldn't be on pace for 20 goals! One can understand the logic behind putting a passer with a goal scorer. Bo has to get his shit together, irrespective of Barzal. He's had countless grade A chances that he's simply missed; that has nothing to do with Barzal.

Eberle wasn't run out of town by fans, I suspect Trotz and Lou didn't like the kind of player he is--soft, doesn't produce in the playoffs. Unfortunately the fans have little effect on personnel decisions. Though HF creates that fantasy.

Drafting and development need a major overhaul, just like the overall structure of the roster. No late round impact forwards or D men for several years. If you don't have 1st rounders, you better strike gold on those later rounds.

There is not a big difference btw Hoglander and Wahlstrom’s stock or value - almost the same amount GP and similar numbers and similar struggles with consistency - he took a major step back last year essentially playing in the AHL all season.

Even if that is still too far a leap, then a Garland for Pageau deal makes sense on its own.

Lee Horvat Garland
Holmstrom Barzal Wahlstrom
Engvall Nelson Palmieri

The team is struggling to score goals and at some point, if a trade is not being made to address this, then I would like to see Barzal back at C (giving him more ice) and Nelson on his W.
Something like this -
Lee/Holmstrom Barzal Nelson
Engvall Horvat Palmieri
Lee/Holmstrom Pageau Wahlstrom

Another thing to kickstart the offense might be to bring up Isk and see what he can offer - already have Martin on IR and try

Barzal Horvat Isk
Engvall Horvat Palmieri
Holmstrom Pageau Wahlstrom
Lee Cizikas C'buck

Brick Faber from Minnesota is one , I imagine if I look around the league there are many others who are Bolducs age or younger.

I don't understand WHY keep him up? Why didn't we just keep in in the A like every other prospect...which leads me back to...what exactly did the team see? Because I don't see it. Why put ourselves in this situation when it was not needed...now the team is making this kid suffer failure...hopefully he comes back stronger and better overall.

He came into the season being waiver-eligible. He's on his second contract here.

I think that if there's going to be a bigger trade at some point to bring in another horse for the blueline, the belief is that Bolduc is going to have to be part of that trade, whether we see that in him or not.

Fact is, two of his first three AHL seasons were extremely promising and every team in the league is going to know that he's only gotten time here per piecemeal.

Just gotta hope that if you can pull a Hanifin out of Calgary, the Flames are a team ready to insert Bolduc into the line-up and live with the growing pains.

100% agree, he'll never clear waivers this year.

Whoever picks him up has to play him or if he gets waived, the Isles have first right of refusal to pick him back up. I don't think there are teams out there that would want him on the team unless he was 1. more experienced and 2. has played regular minutes.

And MIN fired their coach and sits 30/32 in the league in points and 5 wins. Playing a guy that much at that age, just fine for a team like that, although one doubts that was their intent, ie to be a lotto team.

Which means your circle of friends lol. Small sample size, no?
There’s a whole world outside the internet. People exist there too.

A third goalie vs a #6/7 defenseman? Not comparable.
When they are costing you points they are comparable. Good teams are not afraid to lose average prospects. I would also argue every team has a Bolduc of their own

Bolduc has easily cost us 2-4 points already from his own mistakes and the coaching staff having to ride out the other 5 dmen whenever he is dressed.

Matt Martin activated.

Fixed it

Lets just say this

If we don't go on a run in the next few weeks, or we don't fire Lambert, no playoffs. They are 0-4-3 against playoff teams this season. You gotta win a game or two, especially in the houses of horrors like Carolina and Florida.
