That happens when you have a team that people don’t believe in. Nobody wants to talk about a bad team, and nobody wants false hope, or to be sold a bill of goods.
I agree with your take on the debates though that’s a bit of a non sequitur (which I’m a great fan of).
I think that a lot of people do want to talk about bad teams. 15-20 years ago the GDTs may have been barren but there was still a lot of activity here. Arena talk, ownership issues, draft picks...
I only watch for the commercials.
I don't think it's a non sequitur at all. I was making an analogy to what happens around here. There's stifling opinions, and then there's preventing the Governor from Insert-a-State-Here from making everything about lowering taxes 5% during his last term.
The arena talk and the ownership issues were topics here because they black clouds hanging over the viability of the franchise on Long Island. Those have been cleared up. So what's left? Draft picks. Bridgeport (thank god Thompson isn't there to beat on anymore). The current state of the team.
not sure why we can't express how bad this team is. Thought this was an open forum to talk about the team. Team sucks, it does. Nothing has changed. As a diehard isles fans for the past 40 years, I don't feel like I should have to keep my thoughts to myself on a free forum. We aren't attacking players and families...just stating the facts about the team in general.
You can. It’s a specific set of posters that attack other posters with their takes or don’t allow posters to have other opinions. When you attack other posters or detail topics is when it crosses that line. This is clearly defined in the site rules.

Fact. Lee was signed and in the drawer 10 days before Panarin came into focus. Keeping teams in the dark about the his status gave Lou a better negotiating edge as to how much money he had to work with. This would only drive up the price of Panarin if he was not going to be an Islander. It was never a scenario as some have reported that he was signed only after Panarin passed.
There's a wide and varied breadth of opinion and a lot of it is contextual. Some people post often, others rarely. It's too complex to categorize. I think the concept of "nobody wants to talk about this" is just projection.
