If I wanted stifling of contrary opinions I’d watch politics on TV (choose whatever channel fits your narrative).

In all seriousness I come here to listen to everyone (except trolls).

It's all about substance. If there's no substance it'll become a problem. We've lost a pretty decent amount of engagement and posters because people just repeat the same drivel over and over again to the point becomes a chore to read/keep up with the conversation.

That happens when you have a team that people don’t believe in. Nobody wants to talk about a bad team, and nobody wants false hope, or to be sold a bill of goods.

Remember how few people were in the GDTs back in the late 2000s?

True, but then there's also the presidential "debates" where they don't try to stifle opinions, however no matter what the topic is supposed to be the participants just recite prepared speeches to advance their agenda.
I agree with your take on the debates though that’s a bit of a non sequitur (which I’m a great fan of).

I think that a lot of people do want to talk about bad teams. 15-20 years ago the GDTs may have been barren but there was still a lot of activity here. Arena talk, ownership issues, draft picks...

I prefer this.

I only watch for the commercials.

I don't think it's a non sequitur at all. I was making an analogy to what happens around here. There's stifling opinions, and then there's preventing the Governor from Insert-a-State-Here from making everything about lowering taxes 5% during his last term. :)

The arena talk and the ownership issues were topics here because they black clouds hanging over the viability of the franchise on Long Island. Those have been cleared up. So what's left? Draft picks. Bridgeport (thank god Thompson isn't there to beat on anymore). The current state of the team.

It’s annoying to the point where we will start issuing warnings if it completely derails threads and is repeatively posted.
not sure why we can't express how bad this team is. Thought this was an open forum to talk about the team. Team sucks, it does. Nothing has changed. As a diehard isles fans for the past 40 years, I don't feel like I should have to keep my thoughts to myself on a free forum. We aren't attacking players and families...just stating the facts about the team in general.

You can. It’s a specific set of posters that attack other posters with their takes or don’t allow posters to have other opinions. When you attack other posters or detail topics is when it crosses that line. This is clearly defined in the site rules.

Nothing has changed? A perennial playoff team compared to the shit we went through for what seemed like an eternity?

Why do people think they know what other people do or don't want to talk about?
Because they display it here on a daily basis?

The NHL website debuted NHL Edge yesterday. A lot more of the individual player and team statistics compiled from the tracking data. I am posting the link to the Isanders team stats. I haven't finished looking at all the other team stats yet, but what I have seen confirms what my lyin' eyes have seen. That we are a poor skating, poor shooting team that isn't defending well.

So here for your enjoyment is NHL Edge.

Glad they've finally released this information. It'll make discussions way more interesting, though it'll take some time to see which ones are actually the most valuable.

"The coach is talking to the players, and the players are also communicating back. Shocking because I thought the team was full of mutes."
A teaching moment? Camp is barely a month in the rear view mirror and it’s back to the drawing board lol.

Not to mention his patience in letting the Panarin circus play out and still signing with the Isles. If I remember correctly, Lee was kind of in limbo while they were chasing Panarin. They did the same thing with Nielsen, however he jumped ship when DET came a-calling. Lee did not (don't know if he actually was approached by any teams).
Fact. Lee was signed and in the drawer 10 days before Panarin came into focus. Keeping teams in the dark about the his status gave Lou a better negotiating edge as to how much money he had to work with. This would only drive up the price of Panarin if he was not going to be an Islander. It was never a scenario as some have reported that he was signed only after Panarin passed.

Lee turned down a considerable hometown offer to stay an Islander.
