I don’t think this is the coverage we were looking for. Rosner is Marek level embarrassing here.
I wonder what they are saying? Hey Dobber, don't pass the puck directly to MacKinnon in our zone. Hey Pelly, don't shoot directly into someone shinpads, they may get a breakaway.

The coaching staff seems overmatched. Bolduc playing sheltered minutes is seemingly holding his own. Can he do a little more? The Aho piece is relevant in and exacerbated as he now is manning the right side and driving Dobson's minutes up. What a mess.

Rosner is low-key junk in my opinion. Lambert-ian levels of junk if you ask me.

This roster may not be the strongest in the league, but they should be more than formidable and Lambert has only been able to extract it for a couple months in his tenure thus far.

If I was the coach of the New York Islanders (which I'm not and should not be), I wouldn't be a Trotz/Lou crony and I would actually hold players accountable.

Mat Barzal? Yeah, you're playing center kid and if you don't take care of the responsibilites in your own zone it's going to be reflected in your ice time. There's no reason Barzal can't use his speed to effective backcheck and hunt down pucks in the defensive zone to initiate breakouts. He'd get PK minutes under me too, because he needs to learn what it means to make sacrifice and his speed can be a valuable tool as well.

Fact. Lee was signed and in the drawer 10 days before Panarin came into focus. Keeping teams in the dark about the his status gave Lou a better negotiating edge as to how much money he had to work with. This would only drive up the price of Panarin if he was not going to be an Islander. It was never a scenario as some have reported that he was signed only after Panarin passed.

Lee turned down a considerable hometown offer to stay an Islander.
While i agree there was a gentleman's agreement in place, signed and in the drawer i doubt. Lee probably allowed Lou some wriggle room for Panarin and it was only after he chose the Rags that the final term was set. Unless you have a source, I'll just stick with my opinion. Either way, it lends credence to our captain being a loyal one.

Bolduc got blown past on the outside by Mackinnon when Colorado got a favorable line change in. If Bolduc wasn't playing sheltered minutes, things like that would be happening way more. There is a reason his minutes are guarded.

Ok, but that's irrational.

Legit don't understand what is embarrassing about that post. Rosner is just saying what he sees happening.

And yet...Panarin used the Isles to get a bit more money from the rangers as he was NEVER coming here.

You may be right, but how do you have confirmation of this?

Rosner is okay. Given that this team has almost zero media at all, any crumb of information should be seen as the eucharist that we can have. However, it sucks that we cant grill Lamoriello as much, nor can we question Lambert either. They head into the next few games with a lot of questions. You need to win these games, because if you dont? The seat is going to get so hot that Satan is probably sweating.

Is this just retaliation payback for a contract dispute?

Like the "sports gambling" he's being accused of - is that he just plays fantasy football with his buddies from high school and that's technically illegal as an NHL player.
Seriously? If that’s the case the NHL is WHACK AF

Not that we didn’t already know that

I was kinda making a joke. But my cousin who works in the NFL league office is barred from fantasy leagues and pick 'em leagues.

It's not a rule that they actively monitor but they can enforce when they need to. Wouldn't be surprised if the NHL had something similar.

I mean the Isles publicly talk about how Barzal is the worst fantasy football player so there's that.

I find this comical considering how the NHL has embraced sports gambling.

Shane Pinto Suspended for 41 games for gambling....

He will never make the Hall of Fame now!

Kane must have hid it better because he got off

It's not comical, it's pathetic... They shove the online gambling stuff down our throats 24/7 in sports now but if a player partakes they lose half a year's salary? As long as it isn't on his own team, who cares?

Considering the non-penalties the Blackhawks/NHL people received for literally covering up a sexual assualt in their organization, yeah...I'd say the NHL is "WHACK AF."

I really don't think you're appreciating how "gamble free" all these sports league need to be. If players are gabling, especially on their own sport, that is a slippery slope to changing their effort and possibly even throwing games.

Even if things aren't as bad behind the scenes if any league gets labeled as "questionable" and it affects the public's trust in outcomes, then that can affect advertising dollars and that's why you see league's coming down hard on players who gamble.

All leagues have to lay down the law because just one player could cost the league millions.

We can take drugs recreationally....Athletes cannot. We can drink on flights...Pilots cannot. This is the career athletes have chosen and while gambling is still new, they are going to have to get in line and not do it if they want to keep their careers going.
