Draft picks, when you are making the playoffs every year, are a total crapshoot. But if you wanted to just let Engvall and Mayfield walk, then yeah we would have a higher pick... and back to the HF equivalent of excitement (draft parties and lottery ball viewings). No thanks on that.

I never mentioned draft picks instead of Mayfield and Engvall, but the Isles will need draft picks to pay off some other team to take on their contracts down the road.

also i think that Parise, for as solid as he was, might have to see his role taken by Holmstrom. Parise is a good player but man he had stretches of invisibility like Impaaaaact said. If he does come back, good.

We are an offensive deficient team whose strength is goaltending and defense. I like Dufour's offensive upside but he doesn't get to play until he can prove he is defensively responsible and competent.

Just shows that depth defensemen are a dime a dozen and that's why it's a bit of a waste of time overthinking waiver claims and 'giving 'x' a shot' when we already have AHL players needing playing time.

There’s a few on the Islanders roster that can benefit from that over the extra option.

I’m looking forward to Dennis Cholowski and Pal LaDue in an Islanders sweater this season too.

I mean, there aren't many teams with Matthew Tkachucks sitting in the AHL as their 5-6th callup. Every team is gonna be forced to use some AHL NPC at some point for a game here and there unless they're a team of Wolverines with healing factors.

I’ll state the obvious but none of them has ever shown the skill to be a quality 3rd pairing Dman on a contending team.

Bolduc gets a pass from me since he still has “potential”.

Pelech for sure and though you’re not wrong adding Romanov, that alone is a scary statement regarding the lack of depth on the blue line.

Can Whalstrom go on a conditioning stint? Might delay a decision for a couple of weeks. Little confusing with him on LTIR last year. Are pre season games considered games?
