This happens every year. We sign no one of substance and we talk ourselves into thinking their is a trade when their won’t be. We some how can’t get out of this vicious cycle.
And then we say things like this to dampen hopes so we can be more excited when second tiers signings happen. You are not above the machine bud.

I kinda missed all the JT Miller discussion at the draft, what was the general consensus on him around here?

Sure it is a give-to-get situation but if we are okay with what we part with are we excited about Miller as an addition to the win-now team?

If anyone knows a place to stream the frenzy shows on tsn or Sportsnet, give me a shout. I refuse to pay for a larger cable package to Verizon just so I can have the NHL network 😂

This is always fascinating to me. As someone that moved away from the tri state area I learned to embrace Northern Jersey as basically a suburb of NYC, which is basically what it is. The distance may be a little shorter but culturally speaking it's not all that different. Instead of Taylor Ham on a roll he'd be eating a ham egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast.😄
That's what divides New Jersey into a Philly or NYC suburb...where it's called Taylor Ham and where it's called pork roll.

Devils can become the new flyers. Tons of talent up front, some good offensive D, no goaltending. That team could score a lot of goals next year, and give a up a *whole* lot while being soft as new suede slippers.

I'm very skeptical of JT Miller if a trade for him is expensive enough to make signing him to a long extension worth the cost in asssets. I'd much prefer a 1-year option.

Chatter about Trocheck going to the Rangers, which seems like an obvious fit for both sides. Not sure why there was any talk about Kadri for them.

Agree. As a right-handed shot he replaces Strome at center, while having a more complete game like Copp. He’s very similar to Chris Drury (current GM) when he played.

EDIT: Hopefully the Kadri Ranger chatter wasn’t to raise the price on the Isles.
