Isles could do better for $9.125M for the next 8 years.I really like Connor, but i think we would be making a mistake moving Barzal.
Flyers, clearing cap and cutting that way I wish we had this type of balls
All of AZ moves signal ownership wants to change the tone of the franchise and prep it for sale and/or relocation (or both). AZ will continue to add this offseason for this very reason. See you in SLC.Kings trade Durzi to Arizona...
Come on isles how do you not get Durzi???
But Gary Bettman told me they're staying in Arizona, he wouldn't lie to me at all!All of AZ moves signal ownership wants to change the tone of the franchise and prep it for sale and/or relocation (or both). AZ will continue to add this offseason for this very reason. See you in SLC.
Let them be silent. This free agent class sucks. If the isles work as a barter for trades, thats fine. There’s so much out there right now, hope the Isles get involved somehow but I won’t hold my breath
Update. The rumored return for Kevin Hayes will be a 1st round pick from the Blues,
If Hayes can net a 1st rounder, Brock Nelson is worth a young pmd PLUS a 1st AND a 2nd round pick.
I'm just having a hard time understanding how a team who cant score goals would trade our best goal scorer on a good contract. obviously everyone can get traded, but it would have to be a great deal to even consider it.If Lou views Horvat and Barzal as both centers this would be the time to strike on Nelson getting dealt.

Barzal is not getting traded and I think folks should move on from that.My general viewpoint as of now is as the team is currently constructed it is time to start moving on from certain pieces. If the Islanders are able to grab 2-3 prime pieces for Nelson that would play a large role in taking this team to the next level.
For a team that has some cap issues if you can all of a sudden trade Bailey and Nelson and get prime assets back (while also having the option to pivot from Pageau) they would be in a great spot cap wise.
This team would need to actually make their identity an elite defense again. The Islanders had a better offense on paper this year than any Trotz year. The main difference is the fact that this defense simply is no longer elite.
For the record I would also be open to trading Barzal instead of Nelson. I think in 2-3 years though they will look back and wish Nelson was the one who was traded.
I’d take Krug. Would solidify the left side.
Some speculation STL and/or Flyers could retain on him.

If first 2 years were good. Last year the entire team struggled. If he came at half his cap I’d take him in a heart beatKrug has been junk in STL, no?
So stupid, we should have been in on Durzi for that price.Kings trade Durzi to Arizona...

Barrie for Bailey
I think they’ll leave and will come back around again once the whole arena thing settles out, it’s a top 15 market and growing. The NHL will be there. But Gary Bettman told me they're staying in Arizona, he wouldn't lie to me at all!
Just bc you don’t like the idea, doesn’t mean it should not be considered just like trading everyone else off the roster. Holding onto player that’s played 400+ games and underperforming for his to soon to be $9M+ is the wrong move.Barzal is not getting traded and I think folks should move on from that.
I brought several different potentials since last season about Nelson - if Lou is going to trade him then he has to get this right.
A hockey trade for scoring W or PMDman - ones that have been pitched Nelson for Buchnevich or Toews.
A pure future package for Nelson with the idea that the $ on Nelson goes to a FA like - Barbashev, Tank, Bertuzzi.
Keep Nelson and revisit this conversation next off-season when he turns 33 and has 1 year left.
They just signed him to an extension - it’s not happening. Tkachuk and Hughes are different - Hughes got no bridge deal and Tkachuk at 8.5 in Fla is worth more than 9.15 in NYC.Just bc you don’t like the idea, doesn’t mean it should not be considered just like trading everyone else off the roster. Fans have over invested themselves in him. Jack Hughes gets paid $8M, Tkachuk makes $8.5M, etc. in the world of comparables, the ice skater is pretty far behind.
Well, Barzal didn’t earn his bridge unless $17M or 7M cap hit the past two seasons is ‘worth it’ for 60 points…there’s lots of evidence to demonstrate he ain’t earning his extension either. Get out before it’s too late and that NTC kicks in. Gonna be 8 long years.Just bc you don’t like the idea, doesn’t mean it should not be considered just like trading everyone else off the roster. This is the difference between talking about trading Nelson from a personnel standpoint and talking about trading Nelson from an ideological one.My general viewpoint as of now is as the team is currently constructed it is time to start moving on from certain pieces. Hogwash. This is the difference between talking about trading Nelson from a personnel standpoint and talking about trading Nelson from an ideological one.
Your take is hot garbage - you don’t know hockey and your Barzal hate is boring and tired. Lou just signed him - he is part of this franchise’s future - move on.Well, Barzal didn’t earn his bridge unless $17M or 7M cap hit the past two seasons is ‘worth it’ for 60 points…there’s lots of evidence to demonstrate he ain’t earning his extension either. And I’m talking about actual play on the ice. Tkachuk can carry a team, Barzal can’t. Hughes can score and play with multiple players, Barzal can’t. When your teams highest paid player can’t do those things, you got problems.
Dallas’ two highest paid are old dudes that are offset (luckily for them) by younger talent. Dal is paying a 26yr old Hintz $8.45M for a backtoback 35G scorer. Florida wanted to acquire Tkachuk bc looking pretty obvious Barkov at $10M doesn’t have ‘it’ when it matters.
The Isles paid for future performance on his bridge and they got a whopping 60 point center that can’t take face offs and couldn’t score a goal in a near 20 games when the team opened up the offense. Now, what are the Isles paying for when other similar players in his own draft class are performing better and making less? Waiting on the Hull/Oates or Kariya/Selanne wing and a prayer?
Maybe a AZ, WPG, SJ will want a guy already signed long term and can sell the story, Isles can get a player(s), pick, and reallocate to better balance the roster.
That future don’t look so bright based on the present.Your take is hot garbage - you don’t know hockey and your Barzal hate is boring and tired. Lou just signed him - he is part of this franchise’s future - move on.
I’m not engaging with you.
