I think he's been transparent at times. The problem is that he's not necessarily going to do it when you want it, which is what everyone really wants. They want it on demand.

I think that within a week or so of being eliminated it is fair to ask the GM to speak publicly about the season.

I too, hate that we've collectively become Violet Beauregard, but we can both agree that this a fair expectation, no?

I dunno. A week seems a little unreasonable. They're doing internal dialogue and interviews and such. I wouldn't expect someone as deliberate as Lou to speak extemporaneously. Are the other teams doing it? I only pay cursory attention. Seems like most teams are just firing people and rearranging decks.

Unless there's actual news/moves to announce, who cares if there's an official "statement."

Would Lou saying "We are disappointed in the way the season ended. There were some bright spots, like the playoff push towards the end, but ultimately we fell short of our goal. We'll spend the next few weeks re-evaluating or team and will look to make improvements going forward." really make a difference to any fan?

Yeah I'm not sure if other GM's if are doing the same, good point. Unless they're being fired or firing coaches.

I guess I'm equating it to business - company news, end of quarters, etc - have the CEO or other C-suite member conduct a press conference to address the event. Most of the time they also give the prepared political speech, but at least there are reporters to ask questions on behalf of fans.

You're both right though, it's because we are frustrated and looking for something to latch onto. I don't need him to say that he's trading X for Y or looking at A, B and C in the draft, just SOMETHING.

Not only is it fair, but it should be automatic.

At this point honestly the only excuse for NOT having ownership/Lou/Lambert hold a press conference yet is that there will be changes in the front office and they are sorting that out before holding one.

Because if they just go on as "business as usual" and there are no changes, then they are seriously lacking in the customer service/PR game of their business.

I am just an investor living on a pension

In that way then I wish Lou was Hyman Roth.

My problem with Proverov is hes not worth his cap hit, we’d have to trade assets for him, and he’s actually been pretty bad the last few years. He’s a turnover machine as
Well. I don’t know if it’s because of the turnover in Philly but he hasn’t been good.

He plays a lot of minutes but he isn’t as productive as you’d want.

30pt defenseman with a lot of warts at $6.75mil Cap hit for another 2 years is rough. Especially giving up assets.

I’d rather pay Gavrikov $4.5-$5.5 million a year without giving up any assets. Gavrikov brings slightly less offense( better once traded away from CBJ) but he’s way better defensively, protects the puck way more, and would likely be a lot cheaper in both cap hit and assets(0).

That being said I think there’s going to be alotnof suitors for Gavrikov so it may drive up his price but to me he’s worth up to $5.5 per

I feel similar about Ryan Graves although he doesn’t protect the puck nearly as well as Gavrikov
I hear you about Provy the last couple of years but I believe with a change of scenery and a new partner like Pulock and rescuing his minutes from 25 to 21-22 you will see a rejuvenated Provorov.

He provides the PM skills, speed, d zone play, and he can QB a PP. Gavrikov just costs $ BUT many teams will be courting him.

A Provorov trade does require assets but also it allows Lou to jettison a contract. palmieri has 2 years at 5 aav and OR Bailey’s 1 year could be used to offset the contract.

Much of the things said about Provorov was said about a player like Lindholm, who looks revitalized since coming over from Anaheim.

The move also allows the Isles to push Romanov to anchor the 3rd pair, a move that makes a Mayfield expendable. Aho can play the RH side or the Isles can grab a vet like Schenn or Stecher or Burroughs at a low cost.

it will certainly cost the team a 2024 1st and a 2nd, but at this point if it secures a top 4 d man with Provy’s skill - I say go for it.

Top 6 of
Pelech, 28- Dobson, 23
Provorov, 26 - Pulock, 28
Romanov, 23 - Aho, 27/Bolduc, 21
Is young, fast, skilled, and big bodied.

That does not look like a blue line that needs rebuilding. Also, with regards to cap the total cap hit is 26.75 AAV.

I am hoping the Isles are taking the time to convince Bailey that he is too hurt to continue playing and he will either retire (best case scenario) or head off to Robidas Island, lol.

I expect we'll hear from Lou and Lane on Monday. Ready for lots of "we like our group" and "if we can get better we will."
I think the longer nothing is said something is changing whether it’s coach or GM or both. It doesn’t really matter to me that nothing has been said cause nothing really is to be done right now roster wise etc. I also think the longer it goes something is changing with external people. If they were going to promote Chris why not just say that which I suppose they would have already. Perhaps Laurence Gilman who is asst GM in toronto right now or maybe Jamie Langenbrunner who played for Lou and is asst GM in Boston now As GM candidates.

A case for Tarasenko - I would rather have a 31 year old Tank than a 27 year old Engvall.

Tank would allow more options on the PP and most importantly push Lee down to the 2nd PP unit. Nelson, Horvat, Tank can rotate from right half wall, bumper, and Front net presence… creating more movement.

If the Cap only rises to 83.5 there is a possibility to ice this roster -
Lee - Barzal - Tarasenko
Nelson - Horvat - Wahlstrom
Parise - Pageau - Holmstrom
Martin - Cizikas - C’buck
Fasching

* Palmieri and Bailey are traded in cap saving deals.

I may be in the minority here but I’d much rather have Engvall than Tarasenko next year. I think we need Engvall’s speed more and he should easily push for 20+ goals in a full season with Nelson and Palmieri. Not to mention the cap savings.

Id also take Engvall. Id even try to get Kane.

I might not mind Tank, but not at the expense of Engvall. Engvall should be the biggest priority of any of our UFAs due to age and skating ability.

Trade Bailey along with our 2023 second round pick to Arizona for future considerations.
Trade JGP somewhere.
Sign Tank and Engvall.
Bury Martin in Bridgeport.

Lee - Barzal - Tarasenko
Engvall - Horvat - Wahlstrom
Holmstrom - Nelson - Palmieri
Parise - Cizikas - Fasching

Guess what? The islanders don’t owe any of you jack diddly shit.
Sure, but it's generally not a good idea for a business to alienate its consumer base. Especially in a business that's effectively just a hobby that no one needs to partake in.

Why would a rebuilding team want Palmieri, especially giving up picks for him?

A 24 year old who had 14 points in 38 AHL games has no trade value.
