I’m also saying personally I don’t want Mayfield back for that cap hit, that money would be spent elsewhere better I think.Who do you replace Pageau with?
And what kind of return do you expect?
If you want to shake things up, then Nelson is the one you move… you grab a top prospect and a first and clear 6m from the cap - use that $ to add a new piece to the new core
There is a reality that isles keep Nelson and Pageau - resign Mayfield, sign a cheap back up and if they clear Bailey’s contract - they could fit Chychrun and his 4.65 aav.
But in reality nobody has a first line forward just waiting in wings. They will play tonight without five of the twelve forwards they consider regulars. You can argue merits of some of those guys separately but that’s a lot of depth needed that most teams do not have. When it comes to the state of this franchise,Lou is leading the sheep to the slaughter house . It could set us back a decade with the lack of low cost talent in the system. When injuries happen is when you call on the your system to bail you out but with this void, we are in peril..Might even be in worse shape than when he left NJ.
This CAN happen. Unlikely, but it can. While I never actively root for the Isles to lose, especially while watching the game. My competitive nature kicks in and I just want to see a win.gives the team the opportunity to play Trotz like and maybe grind out some wins with a good goalie and supposed strong defense. Guess, teams top D fair will focus on Nelson now. Let;s see the response.
Too many injuries at this late point of the season.
Let’s pump brakes a bit on his career, it’s not ACL as he came back and tried to skate. They wouldn’t have let him do that If it was ACL as it’s first knee test they do on guys. It’s probably MCL sprain if it’s knee which would mean he’s out a month or so,Do we know if its an ACL/MCL injury? Ankle? Brazal's game is speed and cutting ability. This could just kill his career.
He also had a knee injury in junior.Do we know if its an ACL/MCL injury? Ankle? Brazal's game is speed and cutting ability. This could just kill his career.
Isles likely won't announce it for some time. If this was the 1980/90's I would agree with you. But he has already overcome a broken kneecap and other stuff in Junior. So it should not be taken as certain career detriment.Do we know if its an ACL/MCL injury? Ankle? Brazal's game is speed and cutting ability. This could just kill his career.
You have me confused with someone else. Mine was REBUILD.This CAN happen. Unlikely, but it can. While I never actively root for the Isles to lose, especially while watching the game. My competitive nature kicks in and I just want to see a win.
So much of this current team is right AND wrong.
Right: Sorokin, Barzal, Horvat, Dobson, Pelech (I would still include Pulock) all aged 24-29 is a solid core to add to
Wrong: Lack of structure, speed, and physical response to questionable hits
As I said, I will not root against the Isles... but my reasonable nature thinks a RESET this trade line would be the way to go.
Ha... eat it @MJF! I see your "retool" and further complicate things with "reset"

This might be the worst forward lineup I've seen in 10+ years for a regular season game.
And two second lines. Two 4th lines.

Let's agree to digitally slap the next person that shows up and uses REFRESH!You have me confused with someone else. Mine was REBUILD.
IR opens up the roster spot. LTIR wouldn’t be necessary until the Islanders hit the cap max. We’re not there yet.By the way can Barzal on IR or LTIR, help in any way with retaining cap hits as an intermediary with trades THIS deadline?
