What do you think he’s going to get?
Well his showing in Florida definitely helped him recoup some value...I mean he is taking a pay cut from his 9 for sure, but I don't think it is going to be as much as you would like.

If it is a short deal, I see 2/15 from someone and if it is a 4-year deal he seeks, I could see him getting 20 and neither am I particularly interested in...

I think it depends on if he signs with a rebuild or a contender-ish team.

But I’ll go with around (2 x 6.5) or (3 x 5).
I think it will be one of the following unfortunately:

2/15 (doubt he takes two years though since this may be his last contract)
3/18
4/20 (that is my bet, and that 20 number might be low)

Absolutely not. Let Greene ride off into the sunset. He can't skate. He doesn't get to spots.

Agreed, but if Greene wants to keep playing AND potentially stay in hockey as a coach, scout, etc., I wouldn't have a problem with him being signed to play with Bridgeport, tutor the kids, and act as an emergency call up/reserve.

You need depth on the blue line - there will be injuries.
I like @seafoam idea of Brad Hunt - I would add Andy Greene as well and let Salo start at BP and by mid season he can be ready to come up - he does not have to pass waivers so extra time at BP will not ruin his development only help him .
Totally with you on Greene if he wants to come back. I thought he had a good enough year as a stay at home D. Good on the PK and blocked over 100 shots. I think he can be quite serviceable

No.

If I "knew" he was going to serve as the 7th all season (in and out with Salo) then I would roll that dice, but last season our 4 (incl Scott) missed 50+ games

Only way I am bringing Greene back is if Salo is in Bridgeport and we sign someone else to roll with Mayfield....and I am pretty sure Lou sees it that way too since he said he "wanted 2" and I dont think he says that with Andy and Zdeno (or Robin for that matter) in mind...

I think you are naive if you think Brazal won't want more money. His next contract will be 8.5-9M per. He won't sign anything under that. And hey if you think he isn't worth it, that's fine but then you are truly, tearing everything down and starting from scratch....that means you are moving Pelech, Poluck too, they are older than him.
No, not naive. Paying Barzal anything more than his current cap hit is, well, dumb. He’s a 60 point forward so far. That deserves 8.5-9M. And Isles fans complain about how every player is overpaid, yet mr potential is exempt from that because he can skate. Brilliant.

Player-coach in the AHL should be Greene's limit. He's not a viable NHLer anymore, IMO.

Somewhere out there is another 36 year old vet who can still skate who would take $800,000 to be our 7th defenseman.

Bailey was left unprotected for the expansion draft. Of course he is available. Nothing in his past year would’ve changed that.

All the other stuff… being shopped etc…sure that may be unsubstantiated.

I knew it. God forbid we trade The Mascot. That would be one less song BOA has on their set list.

So Beauvillier isn't being shopped, Varlamov isn't being shopped, Bailey isn't being shopped, then who the f*** is being shopped to upgrade the forward group?
Nobody. Lou believes in his team. So much so that he decided the problem last year was behind the bench.

Have anyone in mind? Or, just saying.

I still wouldn’t mind finding a way of translating Bailey into a Martinez from VGK… or similar two year D vet. Clearly a one-for-one wouldn’t work with VGK’s cap situation.

Nobody in particular, but there's always somebody looking to stretch out their career one more year.

I just disagree with the people here who think Andy Greene can still skate. Last year I saw a guy who was gassed after 2 periods of regular shifts and was rightfully healthy scratched as often as he was.

I'm on board with that. I agree that depth on the backline is essential. I think Greene can be part of it if he, as you state, is spotted properly, both minutes wise and scratch wise.

Although I think he can be useful, It's not gonna bother me either way, whether he stays or goes

I would love for the team to send Hague an offer sheet, but I'm not sure Lou is that type of GM.

But man, the defense would be set for the next 3-4 years aside from maybe Mayfield, who is on the wrong side of 30.

Pelech - Pulock
Hague - Dobson
Romanov - XX

Lou was definitely after Miller, so he at least recognizes the need for a top line forward. My question is, he backed off of Miller and just has no plan B? I don’t see it.

To even have acquired Miller a body needed to be moved out, which we can reasonably surmise wasn’t going to be Beauvillier since he was at the draft table. Someone HAS to be on the block, Bailey is the only realistic option.

It'll be interesting to see what Vegas does. Unlike Tampa they can't jettison a big salary due to lack of depth.
