Also found this pretty funny. Looks like despite all of the rumors and speculation this summer it is true that the Isles never even pursued Johnny Hockey. Funny to look back on now

But only if they had the cap space, then they would have talked to him.

Let’s face it. He wanted PHI, they didn’t want to pony up the cash to get the space, he didn’t want Jersey, and in the end defaulted to CLB.

Maybe some dingos will realize that some rumors and mouthpieces that run websites are pushing out nonsense.

I would have to think Raty is headed the other way in a Horvat deal

I dont think the Canucks would get a Raty level prospect for a UFA to be that isnt going to be resigning with the Canucks. I think the trade revolves around the 23 1st and a B level prospect. I dont remember the last UFA to bring back a bluechip prospect like Raty.

A) these “insiderzzzz” are all a bunch of clueless trolls

B) if this is true, Lou should be fired

Has Holmstrom done enough to deserve a call up?
Lou was transparent is saying he believed in the team and he also invested in a certain player to step up with the coaching change. So far, he’s been right - it’s a long season though.

How about Beau, a B level prospect and a 2nd or 3rd?

I’ve said this all along I’m glad we didn’t pursue him, just is one of those guys who will get points but team never wins and Columbus was perfect place for him.

Not necessarily. I have no idea what did happen, but just saying it's possible the Isles sent an offer over to his agent and Gaudreau had no interest so there were never any talks. But who knows. It certainly seems the reports of the pursuit and how close it was were greatly exaggerated though, to say the least.

Bringing up Holmstrom , Ish?
Iskhakov would be my guess, but we will see soon enough what this is all about, I'm sure.

Also possible that Johnny is a little over sensitive like when Calgary media wrote something negative about him and either him or this writer is full of shall we say fake news, alternative facts, or as we called it back in the f**king bull**it

Incredible. Who was it who claimed we made this fancy presentation to him and an offer was on the table, despite not creating the cap space to make it work?

I still think we need to keep this years 1st Round Pick.... Cannot trade another unless 2024? I doubt that gets it done
If team is in playoffs then that pick will not be a high one. That being the case, Horvat at age 27 if he can be signed is likely a bigger asset than a pick that may or may not ever materialize into something. I'm in the camp of go for it now and worry about later later

I’d love to see it but honestly that’s a bunch of spare parts. One grade A piece is a certainty whether that’s Raty or a first rounder. You can mix and match after that. Both would be too much.
Was thinking maybe they would value Beau as a high end piece based on his age and speed instead of the bag of dung he's become for us

Part of me agrees with you guys.... But I feel no matter what happens with this year, if we trade the 1st rounder again we will regret it down the road. I dread another cupboards bare team like Mad Mike gave us way back. Horvat is a guy though, if the deal is right, I could go for.... ;)

If you told me it got us a cup I would trade the next 10 first round picks without hesitation. I do love some of the prospects in this years draft though. I wouldnt be upset if we held onto the pick.

I especially like it if that facilitates Nelson going to wing to be the scorer Barzal hasn't had. I think the Barzal Lee Nelson combo can be lethal

I always say play it to win.

Everyone thought Dan Marino would be a perinneal Super Bowl participant/winner. He got there as a rookie then never again

He probably didn't talk to the Islanders, but his agent probably did and seemingly shopped the offer (or basic parameters of an offer) around, hoping to get the Flyers to bite.

Of course in the end, the Flyers ultimately passed, which left them up shits creek without a paddle.

The agent presumably knew that there was no way lil' Johnny would want to go to NY and tried to use the "offer" hoping to find anyone willing to take him on in the area, outside of the Devils or Islanders.

If so, F' him and the L he took. Dude better pray for Bedard while crying into his Blue Jackets sheets.

Would Bolduc, 2023 1st or 2024 1st (lottery protected), Johnston, and Beau net Horvat and then move Bailey or another noncore veteran player in a separate move to a Western contender needing a solid top playmaking top 6 forward as a rental at the draft for a young winger prospect or 2nd round pick (maybe Colorado, Calgary, Edmonton, or Dallas)? Bolduc looks like a solid big defensive prospect that could soon be knocking on the NHL door but may not fit in with Isles's window because Isles needs to add speed/goal scoring at the back, not size and toughness. Not sure if this is too much for Isles to give up. Beau can play well with a change of scenery. His speed and timely scoring may be missed and I do think he can do well with a team that is more offensive-driven like Vancouver. If Isles keep the 1st round pick, then throw in Holmstrom or Dufour instead.

Canucks need to get tougher as a team (thus Johnston) and can use a solid big young LHD at the back end on the 2nd pairing next season or the next.

I am only concerned about moving Bailey this year may end up hurting the team though. He seems to be the glue as he is so popular and highly respected by his teammates. He also is really good in the postseason.

Or alternatively, Isles should gun for Karlsson (San Jose) instead? He could provide the missing piece for the PP.

Just keep it simple. Target a player like Tank or Horvat and build a trade around the 2023 first (lottery protected) and Beau, at most, beyond a few other secondary pieces.

Dump Beau's salary and send him out West, which is probably where he needs to be and gives him a change of scenery.

For Tank, he controls his own destiny with the NMC, so he could come even cheaper, if he opts to select the Isles as a team he would consider a trade to.

Keep Bolduc.

Part of the Islanders strength this year is two lines producing.
I for one would not change a thing right now while the going is good.

I am not complaining with Barzal’s 0-82-82 and Nelson’s 43-43-86 pace.
If it is not broken….

I also want to see extended time with Barzal, Wahlstrom and Parise.
Stick with the plan and maybe we will be rewarded. Wahlly has had some great looks lately just missing or hitting the post. The goal vs Ottawa may just add some confidence and what he needed right now.
