Would never happen, but I'd love it.

Would also love if the Leafs lose Matthews in the exact same way the Isles lost Tavares.*

*To us of course
And he chooses Elmont NY as his dream location to play

Matthews wouldn't even have NYI on his short list.

- Split the Panthers games
- Win 3/4 against Ducks/Sharks/Devils/Hawks
- Split Lightning/Rags/Hurricanes/Avalanche

That's 6-4

If they can do that they can build off that...the goaltending is going to be the difference while the system sorts itself out.
Not realistic.

I wouldn’t claim anyone

The good stuff is in the last batch of waivers at the end of camps.

BTW, CGY defense pairings recently at camp:

Poirier/Tanev
Hanifin/Andersson
Zadorov/Weegar
Mackey/Stone
Valimaki/Meloche

Poirier is young and is a placeholder for Kylington. But the key thing is that at least a couple of those bottom 4 are not going to make the cut. Also, PO Joseph apparently having a meh camp so far in PGH.

Super random but.... In the 2023 off-season, would a DeBrincat for Dobson swap be of any interest? Assume both guys have solid years and DeBrincat is a sign-and-trade kinda thing where he gets somewhere in the 9.000 for 8yrs.

DeBrincat is a sick player and would be perfect for Barzal given that he’s a righty and a shooter but I wouldn’t do it at the expense of Dobber.

Craig Button segment on Chris Botta's podcast - first interview of the podcast

Loves Raty as a complete player and sees him playing in the NHL later this year

Said Dufour just needed to learn how to use his size and will play many years in the NHL. Complemented his IQ and noted his use even as a penalty killer and that he thought he would benefit from playing in the NHL now to see how well he adapts.

Asked about Bellows, Wahlstrom and Beau and noted that growth curves are important to monitor, as that determines the patience you have with them. Said Bellows has to score goals to play and hinted he still doesn't get into position enough.

Did also say the margin of error for making the playoffs is tight and that last year you needed 100 points to make the playoff and expects the same this year, making us on the bubble. Praised Dobson's growth and highlighted Sorokin as one of the best in the league.

All good news, last night was the first I saw of Raty. He looking extremely determined to make it a tough decision on the coaches although it s a longshot. His forechecking looked good but I didn't see a whole lot of possession.

I thought last night was pretty clearly his worst, no surprise it came in the game he only played 9 minutes in a 4th line role with linemates consisting of Wahlstrom and Holmstrom. I thought he looked pretty good in his first game where he led forwards in TOI and played with some more established guys. For sure he needs time to cook in Bridgeport if only to hopefully correct his skating, they need to get a skating coach stapled to him ASAP.

Fair enough. I knew it was a big ask. Been a fan of Dobson since his draft year.

Dobson is as untouchable as it gets for the Isles. 6'4 RHD's with his skillset are as rare as it gets in the NHL, thus carries insane value that rivals #1C's. I like DeBrincat, but not giving up a unicorn like Dobber for him and it's not really close. Dobson is also under a steal of a bridge and the money due DeBrincat next offseason will be similar to Dobson's next contract assuming he continues his development.

According to Seravalli, Pens have made PO Joseph available via trade. So maybe he does get to waivers. We know the Isles scouted him last year, but we don't know if the scouts liked what they saw....
