I remember when I was good at bowling once upon a time lol best game was a 263 Averaged 190-200. My biggest jump came year 2-3. Tell him to keep practicing and focus on the little details. Bowling is a game of millimeters and precision. My kid banged out a 168. He improved tremendously this summer. High game was 189. Might do some league play this winter
To keep it on hockey topic, he bowls better than Romanov and Sorokin!
Other than the Romanov deal, the Isles season will rest on a bounce back season from it's players, AND a step forward from the younger players to continue their development. Lambert's job will be to put all the pieces in the right spots to give them the best chance to succeed. There have been no deals thus far I can surmise is Lou thought they were lateral or backward moves. I am going to trust him on this. So the hope is, bounce back, development from young players, and maybe a few surprise performances for the upcoming season.
If there was a time for Whalstrom to 'break out,' it's this season. If he could put up 20/25 goals, that changes the dynamic of that offense, and will put me at ease. That would add depth scoring to a team that can *only rely on scoring by committee.
during the shortened 20-21 season there was a 2-3 week stretch in which Oliver was the best player on the ice then he got injured and couldnt get back into the lineup . I'm hoping its just a confidence thing that Lambert can help turn the switch back on with kind words and consistent icetime in the top 6 .If there was a time for Whalstrom to 'break out,' it's this season. Wally is definitely on the hotseat this season. Dobson from the same draft already has broken out and established himself as a young rising star. If he has another in and out season, he could be the one on the outside. Young players I am looking to surprise certainly do not only include Wally. Looking for improvents from Bellows, Salo, and maybe surprises from Holmstrom and Raty who both have professional hockey exp under their belts. Isles can certainly improve this season, without a big free agent signing if one or more of the above have breakout seasons. If there was a time for Whalstrom to 'break out,' it's this season. The Hockey News still predicts us a place in the playoffs! Last place as wild card.If we put up numbers like these, we're not making the playoffs.
You know hockey is right around the corner when TWS is hoovering around. LGI! I do feel bellows turns into a physical 20 goal guy. Lambert let's the kid run to a certain degree.Wally is definitely on the hotseat this season. Dobson from the same draft already has broken out and established himself as a young rising star. Been off line for much of the summer. Needed the break. Thanks for the mention MM!You know hockey is right around the corner when TWS is hoovering around. LGI! I do feel bellows turns into a physical 20 goal guy. Lambert let's the kid run to a certain degree.
I can see us as a Wild Card team. But I am curious, why is THN so sour on the Capitals this season? The Hockey News still predicts us a place in the playoffs! Last place as wild card.

8- Montreal Canadiens
Metropolitan Division:
1- Carolina Hurricanes
2- New York Rangers
3- Pittsburgh Penguins
4- Columbus Blue Jackets (WC)
5- New York Islanders (WC)
6- Washington Capitals
7- New Jersey Devils
8- Philadelphia Flyers
He turned 14 this summer. It's a good hobby for him. He likes it but doesn't love it (like he loves watching the NYI)I remember when I was good at bowling once upon a time lol best game was a 263 Averaged 190-200. My biggest jump came year 2-3. I'm not going to bother reading, but I can see why. Kuznetsov can be great, but he can also be awful. Ditto for Carlson. Oshie is slowing down. Mantha isn't what they thought they were getting. They are not good defensively, and Kuemper is going to see more, higher quality shots than he's seen since Arizona. Imo I know what to expect from Ovechkin, Wilson, and pretty much nobody else. Eller or Strome are going to have to drive their second line... Eek.I can see us as a Wild Card team. But I am curious, why is THN so sour on the Capitals this season?
astute observation. i was disappointed that barry didn't get him back in vs tampa when he was healthy. i still feel it would have made a difference the way he was going. i'm a big fan and hope he has a good season. he's one of those guys i'd root for even if he got traded. my favorite Isles are him, pageau and ross as opposed to my son who's favorites are barzal and then everybody elseduring the shortened 20-21 season there was a 2-3 week stretch in which Oliver was the best player on the ice then he got injured and couldnt get back into the lineup . I buried the Capitals last year only to be smacked in the face by a resurgent year from Ovechkin.I'm not going to bother reading, but I can see why. Kuznetsov can be great, but he can also be awful. But really, the D is Carlson (a poor defensive player), Orlov (their best overall D imo), Jensen (meh), Trever VR, Gustafsson (?), Irwin (meh), and Fehervary (dunno much, but he had a very poor playoffs).
IMO the only thing that stops me from seeing them as a last place level team is Ovechkin. But that's, like, a big thing.

I'm not commenting on whether or not it should affect him, but I feel pretty confident that it won't. Washington was 2nd in the league in attendance last year despite not having one of the higher-capacity arenas. Imagine how that changes with an Ovechkin "leave of absence".He is a big thing, but I really am wondering what kind of cloud is going to hang over his head and the Caps in general due his continued and rather outspoken advocacy for Putin's Russia.
Will it have zero impact?
Will it become overbearing and the club will have to distance itself from it, perhaps even with a "leave of absence" on Ovechkin's behalf?
How many seasons has Laviolette been the coach, 2?I can see us as a Wild Card team. But I am curious, why is THN so sour on the Capitals this season?
It clicks both ways, sometimes. I used to average near 200. Then, out of nowhere, I could barely keep the ball on the lane. I had nights where I struggled to break 100. Multiple gutters in a row. Dropped the ball behind me. Things like that. Average dropped over 50 pins in 3 years. After decades of bowling, I tried lessons. Even that didn't fix me. Out of embarrassment, I retired. That was 13 years ago. A few years later I threw a game at a party, over 200, like nothing happened. Maybe I'll get back into it one day.He turned 14 this summer. It's a good hobby for him. I was struck by how all of a sudden, it seemed like something clicked recently and he started picked up spares much easier
Thanks for the encouragement!
he dropped the ball on his foot once this summer. he started to get more consistency which has been a big snafu for him. we got a summer pass where he could bowl 3 games every day. we took him several times a week. he looks at it like a fun hobby but doesn't have passion for it. just to introduce him to some new people and hopefully make some friends his age, we my do a league but i'm not gonna push it. i'll let him say yay or nayIt clicks both ways, sometimes. 2 or 2 many??How many seasons has Laviolette been the coach, 2?
Are you referencing Lavy's "best by date" syndrome when he joins a new team? How many seasons has Laviolette been the coach, 2?

Fun fact is that Myron loved trading the market so much he actually got his Securities license
