Seems to be a trend.

I am doing a good job of staying off other boards for the most part. I pile up points when I get too carried away. My last 5 come off on Aug 27 and for the 1st time in many months I'll be point free!

Sad accomplishment since I only joined in late Jan of this year!

Hope the health is better since the last time we chatted!

One plus of being a mod in the past, I know how to troll the shit out of people and not to get flagged. I've slipped up a couple of times, but I think it was more of a butt hurt mod who couldn't resist and had to tag me on dubious grounds.

I'm doing much better, thanks for the concern buddy. My fingers are taking a beating playing Mobile Legends though.

The main boards are a scary place .. Right up there with Times Square in the early 80s

This is so dead on! I'm so scared now what Lou is going to do in a panic. He's going to give up our 1st in 23 and other young pieces and he's going to get ripped off by the likes of Van or Chicago.
I could see this happening, even with the addition of Miller or Kane I don’t seeing this team being a contender for all the reasons discussed at length hear for months. The 3 years of success when BT came onboard has past followed by a poor 21-22 season that means our guys are much older and beat up injury’s are piling up also the message gets lost over time. Let’s not forget the islanders were on the outside looking in , the league shut down the wounded healed they got hot and made the playoffs. They played in the bubble some teams dealt with it others not so much. The team relied on strong goaltending and team defense we got timely scoring off the rush it seemed everything went right. Four years later it didn’t, we will support them because we’re fans it will be interesting to see if some of the younger guys step up and what happens come the trade deadline. I wasn’t in the Kadri camp dollars and term were going to hamper the team moving forward. Hopefully Beau sticks around but for now it looks like this is the team going into the season.

Glad your doing well!

I went in for long overdue physical. BP and cholesterol were off the charts high. On meds now for those plus a little anti anxiety stress reducer

Have consult next month for a test which I'm a couple of years overdue for. Fingers crossed! ( at least I'll get to dose up on propofol!)

Oh the stories!!

Will we overachieve again this season?
Let's hope!

Really need to back up to this one, because I think it’s the moment everyone should have stopped trusting this guy (if they did in the first place). In a league where several teams needed goaltending help and Matt Murray ended up with a playoff team, Varlamov didn’t get traded. For some reason people continued thinking they could trade him, despite the team making every indication that they didn’t plan on doing that, and here we are now. He’s still here, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they extend him at backup $$$.

More insider information, Nice! This time, it’s probably definitely true!

Thankful we can move on to another big question: what does the Dobson contract look like? Give him the McAvoy treatment and risk a much rougher extension in three years or get it over with now? Guessing the former…

I think at this point there’s no reason not to try and lock him up long term - have a feeling there’s already a 2 year deal in the drawer though

My guess is the agent will want a bridge. Cap will be going up then and he’ll (hopefully) have an even better body of work.

As constructed, this is a mediocre, WC bubble team. Not looking forward to that kind of season.
I don’t like this either, and it’s this reason that I’ve been calling for the rebuild to begin.

If it seems like I’ve been trying to play both sides against the middle, I’m not.

I think we’re a wild card team. That means we’re a playoff team. But being a playoff team is not a difficult feat. Right now I don’t think we’d get out of the first round if we had a matchup against the Canes or Rags. My disagreement with Lou is that he believes in this roster. I thought we shot our shot last season and should have moved on when we missed the playoffs due to a variety of circumstances, fair or unfair. The individual moves Lou made or didn’t make this summer I have no problem with. The overarching issue is Lou is committed to this roster, either by necessity due to the contracts we have and the lack of flexibility under the cap, or because Lou really likes the team he assembled.

Either way, I think we missed the boat last year and it’s not coming back to pick us up this year.

If Dobson’s an untouchable, then we lock him up today. Pay now, or pay even more later.

Yeah basically as fans it's clear barring a mat barzal blockbuster trade, which would only happen at his request, this team will not be changing for several years. We would have to wait till Bailey contract runs out or the tram walking away from Beu for nothing. Mayfield will leave for nothing because we have no cap space but he will only be replaced by a ahl guy here already. If it was me I would of moved alot guys this offseason to change to change look, and I would of walked away from beaulivier for nothing to save that $, certainly traded varlomov if possible, moved pullock if that's even possible. I've really never seen a islander team like last years that looked so disinterested..

So, for all you guys who pay attention to other teams, are there any decent dudes to be plucked from a team that’s over the cap and will have issues to get under?

Im not upset ablug Kadri, we have some cap space, go out and trade for Sandin. Gives us an incredible defense that is young and has alot of upside.

Am I the only one who thinks Sandin is a Thomas Hickey type around here? Maybe another Ty Smith? Small, average skater (I think I'm being nice saying average too), tweener. What role does he play on this defense? #2PP and #3LD? He can't PK because he will get Rag Dolled like Hickey did. Even if Sandin has the giant testicles that Hickey does and go after Wilson or something... he will consistently be in the dark room. He's not a PMD, he's not a dynamic PP player and certainly won't take any ice time away from Dobson.

I get he's buried on that amazing Toronto blue line and should be our #1D and all, but why do we want this guy? Salo can skate circles around the guy, is not a smurf, and is signed dirt cheap for the next 2 years. Sandin is a downgrade on that and that’s sad.
