Except for one massive thing...

Lou is the only one that thinks that works.

Think about it...Everyone in NHL circles knows that Kadri is an Islander. So that means they know if Lou offers them Beauvillier or Bailey that other GM knows the leverage he has on Lou.

This isn't 1995 where you *may* have the chance of keeping some things secret. Thanks to technology, everyone has a constantly updating encyclopedia in the palm of their hands. Lou is truly from another era and doesn't seem to understand this and is using 20th century tactics (that probably didn't work then), just look out of touch in 2022.
There's utube video maybe 5 days ago of about 5 nhl media types talking about Kadri not signed due to wanting 9mill a year. They didn't sound like it was a islander thing. The thing is with moving Bailey or beu, if Lou has to trick someone into taking them, at a decent price, then they must not really be any good relative to their contract. Maybe Lou should of walked away from Beu. His $$ is high. This guy's not turning into some NHL star to the point you gotta keep paying him to score his 15 goals a year. JOSH is what he is. Maybe Lou needs to move someone better in order to not get hosed right now.

And yet his dumbass peers still voted him GM of the year two of the last three seasons… so clearly whatever he’s doing his peers seem to think it does, in fact, work.

He doesn’t fit right in as we are pretty strong at center.

And while he is better than Ladd was when he was signed, it’s not by much. And just because he would be one of the better forwards on the team (not an overly high bar) doesn’t mean you over pay and hurt your self down the line.

Kadri isn’t making the islanders contenders, not now and certainly not in the ladder stages of his contract, when we will inevitably trying to move his cap hit off the books.

Someone will slide over to wing. Training camp will work those kinks out. He's the only UFA skill option out there; he makes the team better. That's good enough for me. He is a superior player to what Ladd was when signed. Don't upgrade the forward group, waste one year of a small window to compete. The team may not be a top-5 team in the league, but they'll be better. As a fan, I want to see a better team out there this year. Carpe Diem.

Sayitaintso offers the most ludacris and hilarious takes. Yet he will be the first one to get a Kadri jersey the moment he looks good. Funniest part is he is acting like he personally will be on the hook for the 6th and 7th years of the deal, and that a contract is not moveable in a cap league with a salary floor. Insanity, but please keep making me laugh, its been a fun read.

Uhhh, no it hasn't. Every post is a redundant dissertation, backed by statistical algorithms.

Again with the mantra “he makes the team better,” playing players out of position to suit him doesn’t make the team better, he’s not that level of good. Certain players, sure you make the roster adjustments for, Kadri isn’t one of those players.

Moreover, just assuming it will work it self out and will be a better team is based on nothing. And yes he’s better than Ladd but not by a hell of a lot, considering Kadri is a complete scumbag to boot

What video would that be?

Well, they had ~30 years of abuse to create that mindset…
New arena. Current owners have been EXTREMELY receptive to the fans. And in spite of the last year, hockey ops is managed by adults. So why is supporting the team at the box office still an issue for so many?

Scott Malkin could have just as easily kept the team in Brooklyn and kept giving us the awful Barclays Center experience.0

Takes time to realize they're not a bush league team anymore? I just think one year isn't enough to break the horrible culture that was created.

The Black Cherry rules - possibly the world's best soda.

Cel-Ray? I've never tried it. Celery flavored soda? We had a few cans on the shelf growing up, and when we moved they were still there.
I worked at a catering hall during college. Was working a bar-mitzvah and they had these white and green cans on ice, thought it was generic sprite. Grabbed a can, took a swig and almost vomited. Celery soda. Awful.

People will adapt favorably to Kadri, he will be an enforcer, an agitator and the first time he sends someone flying, the fans will say "wow, glad we got THIS guy"

I dont doubt the intensity he brings. I hated the Clutterbuck move but I was always glad we got him. I just didnt want to trade a top 5 draft pick for him. Same with Kadri, I want him but not at that price.

I love our new owners.. Ledecky wants to win, you can see it in his face. He and Malkin didn't buy this team as an investment.

Look whether you believe the media or not, we are in a recession and inflation levels not seen since I was crawling in diapers and this team won a Stanley cup. It costs money to fill up the tank, utilities have gone up, food prices have gone up. Going to sporting events is a luxury. As a parent, I know if I take my 4 yr old with me, I am dropping close to 400 just for food and snacks and whatever toy they want. The tickets are gonna be around 60-80 dollars each, parking also. Thats a lot of money that I would rather save or spend elsewhere.

I have a friend who is a ranger's fan and he is in his 30's and single. Would get season tickets every year for the last 12 years and finally stopped. He couldn't afford last season and would just wait outside the garden an hour before the game and stub hub a ticket. Cant blame the working man for not wanting to go.

And that’s fine. Times are tough. I get that. But to say “well Clueless Lou signed Kadri so I’m not buying tickets to see the Islanders lose games” is a different tune. A tune Islanders fans have been singing a long, long time.

I tell my son the same thing my mother told me when I would wake up every day and ask the same question as soon as my eyes opened "ma, what are we eating tonight? She'd often reply "we're eating what's on sale"

I don't even shop by item a lot of times. I look at the price first then see if it's something I want

I don't go to games or concerts anymore either. I'm with you 100 percent. Much rather spend the money elsewhere.

That absolutely factors into the decision tho, why pay for a product you don’t want or is underwhelming?

Fact of the matter it’s a business of entertainment, there is nothing entertaining about the roster Lou is constructing.

I love going to concerts, but the problem when you got hooked on 90s indie rock is that the bands basically retire, not being the types to play the casino circuit. Much more likely to see a bank member at the Park Slope food co-op than in concert.

I loved going to games at Barclay's. The weirdness of the place was more than compensated for by its total convenience. Haven't been to the new barn yet, because COVID. And that was probably right - I just got it on a business trip, and it sucks.

As for whether the Isles are entertaining? I really love strategic hockey. Love it. Got no problem with smart defensive/counterattack hockey.

Terrible for Robin. I would happily take a first for Varly now though

...And fans flipped out when Lou and Co. only offered him short term. I believe MJF was the one that mentioned here Korn was concerned about his size and the possibilities of injuries. Lou got his guy in Varly, committed to him, and it's 1000% worked out for the Isles. Plus, netted Sorokin. Yeah, Lou is a real dumbo...

Again, smart move by this franchise and Lou did not get all emotional (like the fans) for Lehner's one year performance and sign him long term.
