This is starting to feel more and more like Panarin all over again. Finalist for Panarin 3 years ago and lose out to the Rangers in the 11th hour. Finalist for Gaudreau now, and I can't help but feel we will lose out to NJ or Philly when all is said and done.

Wonder who moves if we can sign him. Does Beau get dealt? Do we give someone a fist or 2nd round pick to take Bailey? Dobson needs to get paid now as well as Barzal/Sorokin in short order.

I'm pretty sure when it came to panarin we were considered front runners the whole time

Yeah we're considered as the underdogs in this signing. This isn't like Panarin in that sense.

I don't think players are that perspicacious when it comes to things like that. They just see a franchise that's a prestigious place to play. They know that front offices are ephemeral. You could sign in a place and a month later, before you play a game, the entire front office could get blown up.

Is Philly really that prestigious a place to play? Not an original six team, two cups in the 70s, haven't had a division or conf championship in over a decade.

Not that the Isles or Devils are particularly prestigious either, but if JG wants to play there, its because its close to home for the wife and his childhood team.

Said this yesterday - some dark horse was bound to swoop in. This was never just between Devils/Flyers/Isles. Not over yet, but at this point I assume Johnny used CBJ's offer to bring NJD up given they have the room. Wouldn't mind Johnny to CBJ and Laine flipped our way though.

Color me concerned when i saw Lou's backup plan last year was to rely on Chara, Salo, Green, and Aho as defenseman on a Cup contender.

Don’t lose sight that for every ‘flip’ this means assets going the other way.
