I think the theory was that since Dubas is looking for prospects over picks, he'd be more interested in prospects closer to playing with Crosby & Malkin.

So more like Morrow and Blake than players who may still need a couple of years like Nadeau, FUS, etc.

I’m starting to lean towards wanting Guentzel if we can extend him for a somewhat reasonable like 5 year deal. I’d even trade Morrow who seems to be a target for the Pens

Nothing in Skjei's style and play suggests to me he wouldnt last 6 years at the level he plays. But how long till Nikishin takes his spot on 2nd pairing, or when Nikishin takes Slavins spot on top pairing, and now Skjei is a 3rd pairing beast

this is my main hesitation on Skjei. I absolutely love the dude but unless one of him or Nikishin or Slavin is playing their off hand, there isn’t room. And we have to think ahead to Slavin’s next contract and assuming Boom is as good as we all hope, his 2nd contract here too. Can’t have like $25M invested in the left side of the D… maybe the team will go the route of trying to make it work with someone playing on the right in the top 4, but that’s certainly not Rod’s ideal first choice
