I feel Brady Skjei is a pretty similar comp. I’d give Skjei this deal, that’s a good price. Tho it might suck the final 2-3 years.

Yeah that's a discount.Good price? That's a ridiculous underpay compared to what he would get in UFA. I do agree, though, that it sets the "contender's rate".

That's risky business in a league where the tradebility of an SPC is the norm.Contender rate combined with "no state income tax" rate.
You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow. Opportunity comes once in a lifetime. If that one shot ends in a cup, then I’d take the Cup. Just my two cents

On internet, no one knows you're a goldfish.Yes but remember we talked about this that's not any different than anyone's typical office job where they often force you to move at the drop of a hat.
That is a very valid thought. In 2 years Skjei could very well be a 3rd pair D & we’re paying him $5.75M+ on that 3rd pair.Nothing in Skjei's style and play suggests to me he wouldnt last 6 years at the level he plays. But how long till Nikishin takes his spot on 2nd pairing, or when Nikishin takes Slavins spot on top pairing, and now Skjei is a 3rd pairing beast
If you have a glut you can trade his final years if you want. We will regret it, if Skjei walks. Sure Pesce is harder to replace because he's a righty. But his decline is real and Skjei is really showing no signs. He could play Burns and estall years.Nothing in Skjei's style and play suggests to me he wouldnt last 6 years at the level he plays. Yo.You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow. Opportunity comes once in a lifetime.
which is better than paying Orlov 8 million to be on it? Please. But we can't pay Orlov 8m and skjei 6.5That is a very valid thought. In 2 years Skjei could very well be a 3rd pair D & we’re paying him $5.75M+ on that 3rd pair.

Actually opportunity has come the last 5 years in a row and it looks like 6 for 6 is around the corner. The reason for that is the fact the front office doesn't "go all in" on rentals that really won't make much of a differenceYou only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow. Opportunity comes once in a lifetime.
Oh oh did you say that last year about Mier?If the Rangers beat us out to Guentzel and I have to watch him score against us as they knock us out of the second round i’m going to go fully toxically masculine and punch a hole through the drywall.

Never gonna happen add another million at least at minimumIf I could get Skjei for 6 x 5.75, I do it and don't even think twice about it.
more than happy to take the L on that one.Kind of funny that much of the board absolutely hated trading that 1st for Skjei back at the time.
You mean like last year after we didn’t pay the price to rent Tank?If the Rangers beat us out to Guentzel and I have to watch him score against us as they knock us out of the second round i’m going to go fully toxically masculine and punch a hole through the drywall.
