I'd be truly ecstatic with any of Buchnevich, Guentzel, or Zegras (despite his flaws). Now's the time for a big swing of the bat to make a run with our pending UFAs. I trust the Canes to keep our defense strong, but Skjei, Turbo, and Pesce all deserve runs at the Cup.

Seravalli hints that Dubas is asking for Nikishin for Guentzel and that’s an absolute no go for the Canes. He also thinks they’d reluctantly trade Scott Morrow and that Guentzel may actually be interested in extending with the Canes.

Seravalli hints that Dubas is asking for Nikishin for Guentzel and that’s an absolute no go for the Canes. He also thinks they’d reluctantly trade Scott Morrow and that Guentzel may actually be interested in extending with the Canes.

Another tidbit, says they’re working on a Chatfield extension and that Pesce is as good as gone.

If they believe that Chatfield can be a top-4 D in the NHL, I'm not going to argue with their judgment. Chatfield is a valuable player already and our 3rd pairing is likely the least-sheltered in the league. If any bottom pairing can make a transition to a 2nd pair, it's Orlov-Chatfield.

I wasn't a fan of Chatfield last year , but last playoffs he was good , he deserve an extension but not 2 mil or more , as far as Pesce he's been awful since last playoffs not sure if he's injured but he reminds me of Peter Griffin when he hurt his knee only way I'd keep Pesce at discount contract , Waddell screwed us by signing Orlov , Slavin is looking at his contract and saying heck if he's at 7.5 I'm worth 10-11. what's the fuss with Guentzel ??? they better not trade Necas for him , sure he score 40 goals twice but how many would Necas score with Crosby and Malkin in the same period.

On the subject of Guentzel, if the package was something like Bunting + Morrow + another prospect + 1st and the Canes somehow get Guentzel to sign a 4-6 year extension, I would call that a huge coup.
