I dont feel Kakko is disappointing at all considering he is 18 and not 23. Barkov scored 8 goals in 54 games in his rookie season. I'm not concerned unless he has a few 10 goal seasons in a row

I mean, i'd call his season disappointing, and worthy of some small concern. But I also feel he's going to improve massively over the next few seasons, so i'm not concerned long-term, if that makes sense.

If the foot thing is resolved, and he can be convinced Quinn will give him an actual chance rather than just burying him on the 4th line, I think he'll be back. If Gorton/JD can't convince him of the latter fact, I don't think he will
There is no way that Quinn can guarantee that. He would need to come into camp and then clearly outperform someone like a Chytil. Strome will be centering Panarin and ZBad holds down the other top line. If Andersson wants to not play on the 4th line, he would need to come and and perform at such a level that it would force Quinn to move Chytil to wing.

There's no way Quinn can guarantee him an honest chance at increasing his role through good play? Then, if you'll excuse my language, WHY THE f*** IS QUINN THE COACH?

Barron would also skate circles around Lias. I understand your Lias’ biggest fan, but i seriously dont understand how you watch him and believe he has any success in NA.

Look at the way Barron is trending, look at the way LA is trending. One is taking huge steps each season, the other has stayed stagnant in his development or even regressed somewhat. You are seriously going to sit there and say you still take LA over Barron? Lias has a piano attached to his back and skates in quick sand. In all honesty, he is probably a below average D1 skater.

This is simply not true. If you think he has not developed since 2017, or even regressed, I don't know what to say. 2020 Lias Andersson is a better player than 2017 Lias Andersson. That's not my opinion, that's fact. Look at his performance this year compared to his D+1 year and it's quite obvious.

I am not suggesting Lias is better than Barron. All I am saying is that they are the same age and that their different paths have led to different expectations. Lias played in the NHL at age 19 and 20, while Barron was still in college. Of course Barron has been trending upwards. That's what you expect in college. Lias hasn't been good in the NHL But he has still developed as a player. I don't think he will ever make the team for us after what happened but fact is that he and Barron are the same age and there's a possibility they play together in Hartford next season. That will be the first time we can actually compare them.

18-19 Lias was certainly better than 19-20 Lias, thats not my opinion, thats a fact. Hindered by his scapegoat “my feet hurt” excuse...He was fine and skating like 10 days later though. Sounds like a serious foot injury

He played his last AHL game on December 18th and started skating with Kungälvs on January 21st. How is that 10 days?

And Lias was definitely worse early in the 2019-20 season, but overall, he still developed. His stint in Sweden was a positive for all parties involved

Now now, let's not let basic arithmetic get in the way of narrative

That is not what I said. I said that Quinn cannot quarantee him a larger role. That he, Andersson, is going to have to come in and outperform the competition.

THAT'S WHY QUINN IS THE EFFIN' COACH!

Keep that in mind the next time a pro sports owner starts pleading for tax payer dollars to build their next arena/stadium.
I am not the one who is giving them that. The local state government is. It is entirely up to them as to what happens. That still has nothing to do with people believing that they can dictate to others on how and where to spend their money.

I said "he can be convinced Quinn will give him an actual chance".

You said "There is no way that Quinn can guarantee that."

So yes, that is factually what you did say. I did not say that Quinn needs to or should guarantee him a larger role. I said he needs to guarantee him a chance.

How is he going to convince him?

You will get a fair shake.
Ok, I am convinced.

I guarantee that you will get a fair shake.
Ok, I am convinced.

Come here, outperform the competition and and we will see where things shake out.
No, I am not convinced.

What even is your argument here? Genuine question

Really? Early in 2019-2020 I thought was when he looked best. Or did everyone forget that he looked better than Chytil in training camp. He had some jump in his game in pre-season. He was actually playing better than a player like Howden who was centering the 3rd line. Why Quinn never even gave a single shift to take a look at how Lias would perform on the 3rd line still confuses me. It is not hard to feel disheartened when you see that as a young player. And people wonder why his play started looking uninspiring as the season wore on. You want to motivate your young players? Throw them a bone once in a while. That never happened once with Lias.

Just that I am not sure of how Quinn can manage to convince him of anything. Either Andersson is willing to believe in himself or his abilities or he isn't.

Okay. I genuinely didn't understand the post i replied to. I think it's simple, to be honest. All Quinn has to do is say "I didn't give you a chance earlier in the season when you earned one, and when your play started to tail off, it didn't make sense to give you one. I'll be quicker to respond to good play next season, if you do come back. We'll also be more attentive to medical issues like your feet next season."

Something like that acknowledges Lias' frankly excellent play in the pre-season, admits some fault for not playing him more early on, explains why he stayed on the 4th line later, and offers him an avenue to promotion in the future, while also re-assuring him that the injury stuff (which we still lack details on) will be properly addressed. I think if Lias has confidence that his play will be rewarded and problems addressed, he'll be back next season, and earn a permanent bottom 6 role on the team. (or maybe he'll get lucky and Quinn will Fast him onto Panarin's wing lol)

Pretty much all this

September and October he played quite well, but after the game in Nashville it just changed. Not sure why, but his performance dropped and he was rightfully demoted. In Hartford he seemed to struggle and only after joining HV71 he really got back to his pre-season form. It was a very up-and-down season for him.

Who knew what would have happened if he was given a shot on the 3rd line? Nobody knows, but everyone was surprised he never even got the chance. Oh well.

It is probably really disheartening to see players who you were outplaying higher in the lineup, even players who are just as young as you and have the same level of seniority. Stuff like that can really get in a players head and make you question whether the coach respects you as a player.

1. You are presuming that Quinn believes that he did not give him a chance. The opposite is true. Quinn clearly did not think that he earned a larger role.

2. Neither you nor I are the coach or his advisers to be in position to advise Quinn to respond quicker. Chances are he believes that he responded just fine whereas Andersson did not.

3. As for medical issues, if Andersson got hurt and did not divulge it at all, how can the coaching staff be more attentive?

You really see a coach, any coach being this way? From what we understand, Quinn is an excellent communicator and not one of his player does not receive his message loud and clear.

So what?

Are you also of the view that Danny Meyer should be continuing to pay all of his employees even though all of the restaurants are closed?

Seems like the right thing to do, for me. But I respect the right to be an asshole.

And Im focusing on billionaires. I think that term gets thrown around and people dont realize how much money that actually is. The fact these people cant find some cash under their couch cushions to soften the blow for their employees whose livelihood is shattered by this delay in working is immoral.
