A name I have not seen yet but seems like a typical target IMO at least, Chris Tierney.

Another defensive forward with not much offense. No need.

I bet they get Roussell from Arizona. Rangers need that bite for the playoffs. He can play 3rd or 4th line and can play center, can skate and has a nastiness to his game that is needed in a 7 game series.

I can see a guy like Radek Faksa being a possible too.

If they get Roussell, Reaves won't dress once in the playoffs.

Tierney has produced offense when given the ice time and linemates to do so. His TOI has decreased the last 2 seasons with Ottawa, hence the drop in his points production. He's still only 27. Can play C, although he's poor on draws so he'd fit right in, or wing.

If you're looking to upgrade from the Goats/Hunts/McKeggs of the world, he's just that.

Roussell is dog shit. I'd sooner play McKegg at this point. We want UPGRADES, not lateral moves bc some guy was "nasty to play against" in a former life in Vancouver.

Just so we're clear: That's not who I want us to trade for, but more who I expect Drury to trade for. For our bottom-6, if he can replace the black hole McKegg, it's not terrible.

I agree on this...it is a concern . I advocate for a Josh Anderson . He has a good contract with term at 5 ? years left at 5.5 . He would add a different dynamic and pave the way for a Kreider trade next season possibly . I would move CK to 3rd line and have Anderson slot in at the 2hole on left side although I think...but am unsure that he can play the right side . Regardless...he makes us a better playoff club instantly . Big and has attitude . Maybe Hab absorb half his salary if we add Kravs . For the main deal he likely will cost us a Lundkvist/ Cuylee/Gauthier or Blais /2nd....too much ????

I also would check on adding Engvall from the Leafs for Hajek/3rd rounder . Center/forward depth with offensive upside as he is buried in TO . Both trades improve us without too much taken away from our team at the moment .
I think Anderson is probably untouchable as far as the Habs are concerned. They love him there and they’ll need a leader through the next couple down seasons. Assuming my read on his role there is correct.

He signed long term for a reason, his parents were huge Habs fans so I guess this is a homecoming for him. Only way he gets traded is if he wants out

I agree in theory, but if Kakko wasn't the 2nd pick in the draft and was instead a 5th rounder, most here would be screaming to dump him.

When given the chance, he has been horribly disappointing so far, especially in his rookie season. By some metrics he was the worst player in the entire NHL, that year.
Meanwhile his metrics since have climbed, no? Defensively? Isn’t he a top-3 5v5 play driver?

If y'all want a laugh, there's a thread on the trade boards proposing Laf+Trouba (with retention) for Miller+Myers from Vancouver. OP got mad when people said no, and then posted this gem:

"I’ve come to the conclusion Ranger fans are bi polar and unreasonable. Who on gods earth thinks Trouba’s contract is going to age well? This was an opportunity to shed that contract as no team will take it on without salary coming back. I do agree keeping him and since there is no space for Schneider to deal him as he will get a way better return.
Q the….. but we are keeping both lol"

I think everyone worrying about barron really shouldn't. His defense was good but his offense was nil during his tenure here this season. They probably are rounding out his game in practice. He did well in the ahl, and now they're slowly adjusting him. Why rush it?

It’s also telling him over and over he needed to get stronger and bulk up. He comes off as a stubborn kid. You talk about a guy like Drury that was constantly in the gym and took after the guys he played with, Sakic, Foote, etc. There’s a reason he’s won at everything he’s done. He sees something with the kid he doesn’t like. Then I keep up with him and you never ever see this kid, on social media, posting himself in the gym or anything. You can laugh and say why should that matter? Well then you see pics of him and you can tell he hasn’t put on any weight since probably he was last playing here under Quinn. He hasn’t played much hockey during the new year because of Covid and other reasons, yet he’s riding a motorcycle yesterday while filming himself while holding his phone up to his face. Was he driving and doing that? Who knows, but it just bugs me that people act like Drury is some abuser and is targeting this kid. He probably sees how great he can be and how he couldn’t care less to work. Bolting twice does speak volumes about work ethic and character. Playoffs start March 3rd for him. Going to be real interested in seeing how he looks and plays.
Anyone find it odd he wasn’t on the Olympic roster for Russia?

Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek were discussing the Leafs prospects and JT Miller today. Elliotte believes the Leafs have enough prospects to make that trade. Matthew Knies played for the U.S. Olympic team. 2nd round pick in 2021. Topi Neimela. 3rd round pick in 2020. Miller isn't a rental but he can walk in one year. Those players were selected by John Lilley who is now the Rangers director of scouting/director of player personnel. Lilley and Chris Morehouse will be running the Rangers draft.

Elliotte discussed the Stars looking to re-sign Pavelski. The Stars believe the player wants to stay in Texas. Elliotte said Pavelsaki wants to stay there. He is receptive to the Stars interest in extending him. Pavelski is a key member on their line with Robertson and Hintz. Pierre LeBrun spoke to Nill a few days ago. Nill said Paveski's family likes living in Texas.

The JT-Leafs stuff screams BS to me. Why exactly do they need another top 6 forward? TML should be going hard after a defenseman if they want to make it past Florida or Tampa.

And the Pavelski stuff is disappointing but the Stars are smart to bring him back. Wouldve been a perfect fir for just about every playoff team. Dallas-Winnipeg tonight is a big game for the the direction of both teams at the deadline.

Trouba's contract isnt even bad when you look at some of the other D contracts around the league. Plus when it ends he will only be 32, its not like its due to become an albatross given his importance to the team. He still probably gets dealt down the road (Detroit maybe) but hes not a negative asset.
