A kid coming from Junior won't be a savior of any sort . Look at Laf and KK...highly rated and here we are . Othmann is about 3 years away from being a 15 goal scorer in the NHL . One can hope.....Barron could play now imo and should.
I think Robertson gets a call up mid-season next year, and doesn’t go down. Similar to Schneider’s situation this year.
Berard/Cuylle/Othmann is tougher to say. They can arrive at various points over the next 1 and a half to 2 years.
If 1 of them has a lights out camp, they might just stay up with the team....
Especially considering our cap next year.
those would be my best guesses
Tinordi is the type of guy that could be included in a Georgiev deal for Koskinen. The deal could conceivably be:
Georgiev at 50% + Tinordi for Koskinen + _______
It helps the Rangers cap situation next year and moves Tinordi to somewhere he may play more. He can't be ecstatic about consistently playing in the AHL.
It didn’t have to be either or. The pick we moved to unload Staal would have been sufficient to draft Raty in addition to Othmann.Right now, Räty is anywhere between the next Aho and the next Saarela. Not really going to lose sleep over a guy who was drafted 36 spots after our last selection prior to that. As much as I like Räty as a prospect, Othmann was and is the better prospect on draft day, and now 7 months later.
Of course that can change, and if it does, good for the Isles for picking him where they did but this is like getting upset that the Rangers passed on Kucherov in 2011.
It could also be though why our guys are slow to produce. Chytil started playing with Panarin and Strome, even while banged up, and he looked good. He’s playing with two guys that wouldn’t even be in contending teams’ lineups. You drafted two guys that high, Laf and Kakko, because of their skill sets. Burying them to elevate career depth players is ridiculous.Kakko may become a very good player but when you can be in a top 6 role with linemates scoring and you can go 20 games without a goal, Blackwell doesn't look all that bad.
Not saying playing Blackwell over Kakko was the right choice, but Kakko hasn't made it into an absurd choice, yet.
Yeah, I don’t disagree there…but we can’t expect the org to feel the same if they want to move Georgiev. If they do trade him and don’t feel comforts with Kinkaid, then make a move for another goalie. I’m not going to lose sleep over that sequence of events.Don't see what difference backup goalie means on the Rangers. If Shesterkin goes down, they're toast. Might as well keep Georgiev or Kinkaid rather than giving up anything for Jones.
Othmanns shot may play and he could get 15 goals next year. Skating, shot, and energy all play immediately on the NHL.A kid coming from Junior won't be a savior of any sort . Look at Laf and KK...highly rated and here we are . Othmann is about 3 years away from being a 15 goal scorer in the NHL . One can hope.....
All the high drafted guys had to do was consistently move their feet. Kakko learned earlier, maybe he shoulda told Lafreniere. It could also be though why our guys are slow to produce. He's an AHL player. Why would he expect otherwise? He's played 109 NHL games in 10 years and 56 out of a possible 175 in the last 3.
So, should management have said to Kravtsov even though you're not in shape you can stay on the NHL roster?
Lehkonen
This started with a hypothetical scenario where the rangers won their next 7 games against playoff teams before the deadline and still you wouldn’t want them to add any short term pieces to improve the team. That position is crazy and a lot of your posts are condescending. Not lecturing.

Big improvement from last year!
Imagine when Laf and KK and Chytil start contributing and they get better players than Mckeggvand Hunt.
For the same reason they didn't keep tuch, fleury, and Schmidt and will probably move on from Smith and or karlson this summer: capWe obviously disagree.
If he is a great player under the right parameters why wouldn't Vegas keep him?
Benny gets the benefit of the doubt though, they aren't bringing another goalie in here without his blessing.Martin Jones has been dog shit for 4 years in a row.
Look I want a better backup goalie in here as much as anyone, but if I have to choose...I'm sticking with Geo (unless some boob is out there with a undeniable offer for him).
I'd sooner start Kinkaid than Martin Jones.
I know I’m going to get heat for this but I don’t care. Sign me up for Nic Deslauriers as a cheap 4th line rental. Imagine Reaves on one side and Deslauriers on the other hunting the defense down and wearing them out. I know people are gonna give me shit and say the team already has one useless goon blah blah blah. But the reality is, the playoffs are a war, you send 2 heat seeking missiles out there and it’s gonna wear down the opposing d over a series. The 4th line is a checking grinding line, and yeah the occasional goal here and there. If the Rangers fail to score in the playoffs that’s on the top 6 stars, not the 4th line. This isn’t about fighting and gooning it up. I mean, it’s better than future NYR assistant developer McKegg out there. Deslauriers does have 8 points so far this year.
It sends a wrong message to literally everyone and you instantly have a fractured locker room because rules apply to some and not others in a manner expressly endorsed by management. If it "sends the wrong message," and a bunch of other kids start misbehaving then you can swap back to a hard line approach. But I don't think it would. Again, you wink wink nudge nudge someone like Reaves and tell him to toughen the kid up.
Don't see what difference backup goalie means on the Rangers. If Shesterkin goes down, they're toast. Might as well keep Georgiev or Kinkaid rather than giving up anything for Jones.
