Hunt in the top 6 and McKegg in the top 9 while Barron sits
And not one reporter/commentator/blogger etc will ask why.... what is the purpose of having him up here in worse players are getting time over him?
He should be in the line up or in Hartford period...
Dicking him around on the taxi squad isn’t good for anyone in this situation..
I’d feel a lot different if he disappointed when he was given a chance, or didn’t look ready, but that’s just not the case.
I can think of 1 maybe 2 games where he didn’t look good, and in both of those he got better as the game went on.
Won faceoffs, threw some hits, scored a goal, even played solid in 3v3 OT when he got a chance....
We’re lucky if McKegg does 1 of those things a game...
It’s just plain dumb the way they are handling him

prob cos they know he'll explode but won't tell anyway

yet they (Merc? Those pressers clips are a joke - you can barely hear the Qs, let alone try and guess who's asking) seem to happy to ask Kakko injury management questions for friggin half of the interview. Cringe.

Who cares if the reporters ask why? It’s a pointless question. He’s not going to give a meaningful answer. He’ll say he thinks it gives them the best chance to win or he likes how they’ve been going or he thinks they complement the other guys or he wants Barron up here to practice with the team and gain experience or some meaningless cliche to answer it

Here’s what I said to someone else, and I stand by it:
“right. It’s crazy how some rangers fans are so eager to dismiss our chances this year as one of the best teams in the league, in the best position to add because they have some vision of a team in 4 years everything works out perfectly and we become a “real contender.””

If you take that as a personal insult or that I think I’m better than you, that’s on you.

the rangers will be 5th in point % if tonight’s scores hold.

Well you shouldn’t be lecturing others on being condescending if you are snidely calling their positions crazy and misrepresenting them yourself.

refs call less penalties in the playoffs but most of the reduced calls are even strength calls so teams get just as many power play opportunities as regular season

So there are less calls overall, but the volume of extra calls during the regular season are called when one team is already on the power play/short handed? Not sure I buy that.

You know how we always complain that coaches never say anything but one time our coach did, we hated it?

"Right now Girardi and Klein are just better players than Dylan McIlrath."

Now, that statement wasn't untrue for a number of reasons. One, McIlrath never panned out. More important, AV finally told us straight up what the Rangers thought, even though we kind of knew what they thought. And everyone hated it. I thought that was funny.

Anyway, save yourselves the mental work on justifying what Jones was sent down. The Rangers think Nemeth is a better player.

I'm sorry I'm the one who had to tell you that, but at least I'm not AV.

If they think Nemeth is better than Jones, this team will be a lottery team before becoming a major Cup contender.

I'd deal Robertson for Copp with an extension. I would hate dealing him for a rental. I still think he has a very good chance of being a 2nd pairing defenseman in one or two years and is great insurance to have if the Rangers decide to move on from Lindgren at the end of his deal. Marc Staal that can skate. That's Robertson.

A Marc Staal that can skate is a 1st pairing defenseman. Hell, Marc Staal was a 1st pairing defenseman before the eye injury.

I'm thinking more along the lines of post eye injury Marc Staal and not pre eye injury Staal.

Pre eye injury Staal was the Rangers' best defenseman since Leetch at the time.

If they think Nemeth is better than Jones, this team will be a lottery team before becoming a major Cup contender.

They must be attempting some major damage reduction and rehab of Nem's value. And, they probably just cannot stand not having a big, vet body out there. Just because that's how things are done.

Vince jumped the gun. Bottom-6 lines are

McKegg-Chytil-Gauthier
Goodrow-Rooney-Reaves

I don’t think it needs to be said because it’s so obvious, but playing Greg McKegg on the third line is just an inexcusable decision. You’re purposely making your lineup worse going into a key divisional matchup, and essentially opting to play two 4th lines. Either play Barron or give a 4th to Arizona for Kessel. These decisions by Gallant are getting ridiculous now.

No idea if Chytil will ever become something, but playing with 2 anvils won't help.

I know what you're trying to do, but reaves is a great player for his role. He's been overplayed bc of the lack of depth on the NHL squad and it's shown. He is a terrific 4th liner when he's playing 7-9 mins a game and doing his chip, chase, forecheck grind.

There is no definition that makes Reaves a great player.

There is no definition that makes Reaves even a good player.

Even Average is pushing the envelope.

All this is true; just one-sided.

Just because one side has blame doesn't mean the other side doesn't.

When someone is wronging you, and you have it in your power to make things better, the making things better option is still the right reaction.

So, should management have said to Kravtsov even though you're not in shape you can stay on the NHL roster?

I'm not sure I follow that logic.

I do have some reservations about Gallant. I'm not saying I think he's David Quinn exactly but I think he's doing some Quinn-like things, perhaps, frankly, in part because he was instructed that those are the things that worked or that the team wanted to keep the same due to the preferences of the existing veterans.

I think Gallant is a way better coach than Quinn but I would say my faith in him is currently less than when he was hired because I do think most of our success is due to Shesterkin playing lights out and that's not really Gallant's doing. I was told Gallant plays an up-tempo, high pressure game. Where is that?

A high pressure game requires a fast team, something the Rangers ain't.

Well you shouldn’t be lecturing others on being condescending if you are snidely calling their positions crazy and misrepresenting them yourself.
This started with a hypothetical scenario where the rangers won their next 7 games against playoff teams before the deadline and still you wouldn’t want them to add any short term pieces to improve the team. That position is crazy and a lot of your posts are condescending. Not lecturing.

What's the story there? The way Othmann has turned out, I wouldn't swap him for Raty, and we didn't have another pick between that one and when the Isles drafted him. Was there a nixed trade or something?
The Blueshirts needed to move (Staal) in order to clear cap space for last season. But this came at a cost when then-general manager Jeff Gorton had to add a second-round draft choice sweetener to the equation in order to complete the deal. The selection was 48th overall. Finnish center Aatu Raty was still on the board, to be plucked four picks later by the Islanders.
Rangers' K'Andre Miller blossoming amid increased opportunity

Kings - Byfield (unattainable), Turcotte, Kupari, Vilardi, Pinelli
Wild - Boldy, Rossi, Khusnutdinov
Ducks - Zegras (unattainable) (for now :sarcasm:), McTavish, Perrault
Canadiens - Jan Mysak
Hurricanes - Suzuki (unfortunately the Hurricanes probably don't want to help us and may not need a D like Nils either)
Stars - Wyatt Johnston, Mavrik Bourque, Ty Dellandrea
Jets - Perfetti, Lucious
Oilers - Holloway

As an example, I'd personally set sights on Johnston, Rossi, or Turcotte as a big fish, and then in a second deal, aim for Holloway, Khusnutdinov, or Mysak.

Add Boldy to the unattainable list.

If Nils is one of our 6 best dmen and he should be, a righty plays the left side. Teams do it successfully all the time. And although Miller has greater upside, Nils is the more solid player in all zones. Too early to move him unless we are getting back a young 2C and I may move Miller instead given the choice.

I was a major Miller basher last year, but his improvement in one season has been excellent. No way I protect Lundkvist over Miller if I have to make that decision, today.
