And not draft Raty, reportedlyeverything the Gorton/JD/Quinn braintrust did after Covid hit was an unmitigated disaster. Its still hard for me to get over them moving Fast/Staal/Henrik so they could pay DeAngelo/Lemieux/Georgiev.

What's the story there? The way Othmann has turned out, I wouldn't swap him for Raty, and we didn't have another pick between that one and when the Isles drafted him. Was there a nixed trade or something?
He has been great in Liiga. That means nothing until he crosses the pond, as we’ve seen.I dont really get it either. Every team passed on Raty at least once, i dont think hes the cant miss guy some made him out to be.

True.If the rebuild has taught me anything, it’s that potential means nothing until players show it at the NHL level
Barron needs an everyday spot, and the rangers need 2 of Othman/Berard/Cuylle to become top 9 impact players. Would be great if all 3 can be, but we Need at least 2 of them.
Danault’s contract was partly due to his great defensive play in the playoffs last year. He had high visibility. Copp does not.Do you think a team would give Copp the Danault contract??
Barron could play now imo and should. What is your guess on when these guys would a real look in the nhl?

Unreal. At most he would have been in Hartford for two weeks had he reported put his head down and worked hard. Too much to ask for I guess?!Rangers' Dryden Hunt soaks up a spot on second line
Rangers depth is so bad that Hunt is our 2ed line RW. Imagine if Kravtsov took the Chytil way and stuck it out in the AHL and not cried home when things didn't go his way. He should have been forced to stay in the AHL. Teams need to stop caving in to players from Europe and give them a clause to go home if they are sent to AHL. If guys like Chytil can stay in the AHL, then Kravtsov should have too.
True.
The rangers are not done by any means. I expect next season we take a step back. Not out of the playoffs, but a wildcard team.
Geo has got to go. He’s been held onto for too long imo.
We also have to cut ties with strome and get a better 2-way matchup type center..

having said all that, we’re still a buyer this year at the TDL.
We still have to go for the cup, and it’s important the team thinks they can win it.
It’s better for everyone’s progress. You don’t just write this season off. A lot of good things happened and our culture has drastically changed for the better.
As far as this TDL is concerned, Drury doesn’t have to empty the farm, and shouldn’t . But anyone who thinks losing chytil/a prospect or 2 and maybe a late 1st or 2nd ( obviously not all of those) to import some depth is kidding themselves.
If Drury can make a huge TDL trade for a center, he’ll do it if he gets his price.
But more then likely, that’s an offseason/draft day type of trade.
I think the need for a 2C that’s more of a better 2-way/matchup against other teams lines has never been more apparent.
At the very least this season we should be adding a Lehkonen + a Copp/Jarnkrok to this roster.
it sucks that we don’t have Blais for the postseason. He was supposed to be the Fast replacement, but younger/more physical/perhaps better hands as well.
Adding 1-2 Swiss Army knife guys that can slide up and down the line up is vital for Drury to add by the TDL..
Hopefully both, but at least 1 of the adds isn’t a pure rental and continue to be on the roster next season, and beyond.
we’re still in very good shape. Our kids need to keep getting better and our vets /young players need to keep up consistent play.
I have a feeling when Robertson and Barron get their chance to be everyday guys, they are going to make some people eat a lot of crow for thinking they can only top out as 4th line/3rd D pair options.
Would surprise me one bit if LaF fixes his legs in the offseason and comes in next season like a beast.

I think Robertson gets a call up mid-season next year, and doesn’t go down. Similar to Schneider’s situation this year.
Berard/Cuylle/Othmann is tougher to say. They can arrive at various points over the next 1 and a half to 2 years.
If 1 of them has a lights out camp, they might just stay up with the team....
Especially considering our cap next year.
those would be my best guesses
These are fair considerations. I also said that Copp will be asking for that contract. Doesn't mean I think he'll get it. But I don't think he'll get a bargain contract either. It will be a contract we can't afford unless we let Strome walk, which I think would be pretty crap asset management.Danault’s contract was partly due to his great defensive play in the playoffs last year. He had high visibility. Copp does not.

Depends on how/what teams do In the offseason.I agree with basically everything you said, except the Rangers taking a step back. Who in the Metro is jumping them?
Kravtsov would’ve been up for game 3 of the season when Strome went out with covid. Such a dumb decision that has benefited no one
Same with me. Hunt and McKegg moving up in the line up is just a bad idea tbh. That article boggles the mind. I legitimately question Gallant's ability to evaluate talent at this point. This team has an issue with depth. We could use another top six RW and another 3rd liner. His solution is to replace the 3rd liner playing on our top line with a 4th liner who has done f*** all offensively in his entire career. This is Hunt's 3rd or 4th stint on that wing at this point, and it has never worked. To add insult to injury, he doesn't even slot the 3rd liner DOWN to the 3rd line, but moves him all the way to the 4th line because Greg "6th liner" McKegg can't lose that spot on the 3rd line. The one (healthy) player to have had ANY success on that Bread/Strome line was yanked off it after going nearly a ppg for 5 games, and he hasn't been tried there since. We're 50 games into the season, and Gallant is still dicking around with the lines, seemingly no closer to figuring it out than he was in game 1.
I want to give the guy the benefit of the doubt here, but his insane love affair with playing Hunt WELL above his talent level and playing McKegg at all just baffles me. The fact that he's doing so at the expense of one of our young talents and our main offseason acquisition (turning the latter into a 3.6 million dollar 4th liner) just makes it worse. There are--at minimum--five or six different players who should be on that wing before Hunt (who, to be clear, is an effective 4th liner).

this is the time to shift chytil to RW with strome/bread and play freaking Barron at 3c, while we’re decimated by injuries at RW.
Also sending Jones back down blows. He was playing well with Schneider and is just frankly better then nemeth at everything
