Does anyone else get the feel Nemeth has played his last game here? Very strange situation, maybe he just retires

As for the Strome talk, I think I speak for a lot of posters here when I say that- If NYR were going to trade a whole bunch of pieces for an upgrade at 2C, we'd much rather it be for someone who scores at a similar rate to Strome but is a more physical 2 way player, rather than a guy like Strome but who scores a little bit more like Monahan or MS.

He's not available and we could never afford him but, now that Barkov has re-signed, Kopitar would be the perfect fit for this team.

Could they go the Vegas/TB route?

Put him on LTIR, bring in 2.5 more of cap room via bad trade before bringing him back for the Cup run on the 1st pairing with Fox

Key move

We can't, because we are well below the cap. We would need to be less than 2.5 mil under the cap to generate any LTIR space. If we were at 80.5 mil, for example, and placed him on LTIR, we could then spend up to 83 mil (80.5 plus 2.5).

Is anyone else surprised that Evander Kane hasn't absolutely destroyed the Oilers room yet? I was told he is this huge cancer. Everyone hates him - especially GM Ryan Reaves. You wouldn't want him on your team. He's selfish and not a guy you win with. Yet, if I'm reading things correctly the Oilers are 5-2-1 since they signed him and he has 6 points in 8 games? Playing a heavy game with 32 hits, shooting the puck a ton, and scoring. Been on the ice for 5 GF and 1 GA so far. They've even trusted him on a line with McDavid or Draisaitl and he hasn't managed to damage their careers yet. I guess we couldn't have used him because he's strictly a LW and, as we know, moving a player from LW to RW is the toughest position change in - and across - sports.

Was suggesting this in the event they took on a large contract through trade, the other half was joking

Hasn't destroyed the room in two weeks. He's a changed man.

Maybe, maybe not. The Vegas news is fresh and they are still not sure about Lehner's injury. He already has one shoulder surgery in his recent past. I just don't know where else Vegas is going for a decent goaltender without paying a stiff price. I would be willing to gamble that Greiss or Allen could be obtained at a favorable price, probably for prospects rather than picks. Greiss is particular is a great locker room guy (as well as a pretty good goaltender) Greiss for Stevey Y's guy Hajek

If Vegas wants Georgiev, they need to step with a real offer because the Rangers haven't received a real offer according to what Staple's sources told him.

I don't mind Greiss coming in and replacing Geo in two different moves.

My thing is what team will be actively looking for another goalie? Vegas was mentioned, but they need to clear space, not add to it. Martinez will be coming back at some point. If Chicago moves Fluery I can see that, but they aren't giving up a lot to get Georgiev. I just don't see the move that makes sense for another team acquiring him that they couldn't do in the offseason.

What is the market for Georgiev? A team on the bubble with an injured starter and inadequate backup? I suspect the market will be better in the offseason.

I could see a few teams who want to get a good look at him wanting to make that move now. I wonder if Vegas is considering trading Lehner in the offseason to save cap space, hence the thought process of bringing in AG

a Georgiev with salary retained for Janmark deal could make sense for both sides. The Rangers could even retain enough that Vegas actually SAVES cap space in that deal.

Georgiev @ 50% for Janmark
$1.2125m to Vegas
$2m away

The Rangers get Janmark @ $2m + hold $1.125m of Georgiev

Perhaps Vegas sends the Rangers 3rd back to them

I'd love this move and I'd supplement it with the following

Kravtsov + 2023 3rd for for Lehkonen
other picks for Greiss and a capable 6/7 D rental

Kreider Zibanejad Lafreniere
Panarin Strome Kakko
Goodrow Janmark Lehkonen
Hunt Rooney Gauthier/Reaves

Lindgren Fox
Miller Trouba
Jones Schneider
(rental)
Nemeth

That bottom 6 would be tailor made for a long physical playoff series

EDIT: Forgot Chytil in this mix too. He can slide Goodrow to the fourth line

I like this deal, tho I could see VGK not wanting to part w/Janmark for the reason why NYR would want him. I still like the idea of Doro & Broissot for Geo & something. That or maybe NYR try to bring Patrick instead of Doro. I'm sure Vegas wants to keep their prospects since they're close to the cap and NYR could try Patrick as a reclamation project. Not sure how much Value Patrick holds and what would need to be added but Broissot & Patrick clears a little over 3 mil while taking on Geo at 2. 2.4 + whatever NYR add.

Nemeth on IR with lingering effects of Covid-19 (coronavirus). Is that the personal issue? Would be weird phrasing, but some people used that to describe Bowen Byram taking a leave due to head injuries. Language is deteriorating.

Yeah the Nemeth thing is an enigma. There has to be more to it than COVID. Perhaps this is a designation they are getting away with. Teams always play fast and loose with rules where they can.

It's very odd to the point where I'm hoping he doesn't have Uncle Wade Syndrome.

He's still a wildcard. Plus...Two of the best players in the entire league are on that team. Sometimes on his line. There was nowhere for the Oil to go but up. They've been underachieving for decades.

It doesn't really matter what they call it. The result is the same either way.
