Could they go the Vegas/TB route?
Put him on LTIR, bring in 2.5 more of cap room via bad trade before bringing him back for the Cup run on the 1st pairing with Fox
Key move
We can't, because we are well below the cap. We would need to be less than 2.5 mil under the cap to generate any LTIR space. If we were at 80.5 mil, for example, and placed him on LTIR, we could then spend up to 83 mil (80.5 plus 2.5).
Hasn't destroyed the room in two weeks. He's a changed man.Is anyone else surprised that Evander Kane hasn't absolutely destroyed the Oilers room yet? I was told he is this huge cancer. Everyone hates him - especially GM Ryan Reaves. You wouldn't want him on your team. He's selfish and not a guy you win with. Yet, if I'm reading things correctly the Oilers are 5-2-1 since they signed him and he has 6 points in 8 games? Playing a heavy game with 32 hits, shooting the puck a ton, and scoring. Been on the ice for 5 GF and 1 GA so far.
Maybe, maybe not. The Vegas news is fresh and they are still not sure about Lehner's injury. He already has one shoulder surgery in his recent past. I just don't know where else Vegas is going for a decent goaltender without paying a stiff price. I would be willing to gamble that Greiss or Allen could be obtained at a favorable price, probably for prospects rather than picks. Greiss is particular is a great locker room guy (as well as a pretty good goaltender) Greiss for Stevey Y's guy Hajek
If Vegas wants Georgiev, they need to step with a real offer because the Rangers haven't received a real offer according to what Staple's sources told him.

What is the market for Georgiev? A team on the bubble with an injured starter and inadequate backup? I suspect the market will be better in the offseason.

In all seriousness, I'm sure it will prove to be a good signing for them. He was a great trade deadline acquisition for the Sharks. Long-term it wasn't so. Some guys are meant to be short-term additions.Coach was fired though.
a Georgiev with salary retained for Janmark deal could make sense for both sides. The Rangers could even retain enough that Vegas actually SAVES cap space in that deal.
Georgiev @ 50% for Janmark
$1.2125m to Vegas
$2m away
The Rangers get Janmark @ $2m + hold $1.125m of Georgiev
Perhaps Vegas sends the Rangers 3rd back to them

They've even trusted him on a line with McDavid or Draisaitl and he hasn't managed to damage their careers yet. I guess we couldn't have used him because he's strictly a LW and, as we know, moving a player from LW to RW is the toughest position change in - and across - sports.
Yeah the Nemeth thing is an enigma. There has to be more to it than COVID. Perhaps this is a designation they are getting away with. Teams always play fast and loose with rules where they can.
It's very odd to the point where I'm hoping he doesn't have Uncle Wade Syndrome.
