Problem is hes signed for another 6 years isnt he? Plus he will be 30 and is already declining and being passed up for other better younger players. No thanks.

There has to be better choices out there that we can deal for

5 more after this one and he just turned 29. At $5.9m per season he is paid pretty reasonably. He came back from an injury this season and has seen his role diminished in general. If we look at a rolling average of his last 4 seasons he’s pretty solidly in the 2C category and his possession and face off numbers are solid.

I think people believe he’s a 31-32 year old with 5 years left but his contract will end when he is 34 I think. That’s not a bad deal. Especially at a $5.9m cap hit.

There's a difference between "Valuing" a guy like Rooney and mismanaging your team by making horrible deployment decisions. There's not a good coach in this league that would have had Rooney out there for 3 on 3 OT for even one second over the former first overall pick that really needs to get going and has scored OT goals before.

Jon Cooper was an outside the box hire, how'd that work out? Just because it's "out of the box" doesn't mean it's the right move. Still has to be the right coach.
Cooper wasn't an out of the box hire. Hed been the crunch coach for a while. Out of the box means from not the traditional sources such as an international hire.

You're joking right? He was a freaking defense attorney before he decided he want to be a coach. Then he worked his way up and won at every level. He wasn't a former player, he didn't work for the NHL in any capacity prior to becoming a coach. His highest level of hockey played was a year of club hockey at Hofstra.

I just think how Quinn would still be here is Gorton/JD weren't canned, and it makes me think that, while rash, was the best move for the organization moving forward.
I get not wanting to trade Kakko for PLD, but there was absolutely no reason not to get Bennett, especially considering how freaking soft we were at the time.
It’s not like he went for a severe cost....

You throw this out there as some sort of trump card. Adam Fox also thinks the game on a level we perhaps have never seen before. That distinction can’t be understated.

I like Nils. I always tend to err on the side of keeping prospects. But we for sure overrate him here.
Cough cough....Tim Erixon...
