Realistically, there’s no telling Larkin was definitely available. But we missed the boat on PLD and I remember advocating for that one pretty heavily. People didn’t want to part with Chytil, etc. PLD is exactly the kind of 2C you do want on this team. On pace for 36 goals and 61 points and is a solid physical player with a decent two way game.
They were reportedly insisting on Kakko being in the deal. It’s understandable to not want to make that type of trade within your division

Today was a good day. Stars wars, non sports cards for Wayne, unscratched! Off centered but still a good piece for the collection.

Wish I was wrong but I have a hard time seeing Kravtsov coming back this year to the Rangers even if we are in need of another RW since Gauthier is not capable of handling a top 9 role.
Montreal has a ton of picks how about getting their second rounder which is basically a late first. Or maybe if they love Kravy that much maybe their first via Calgary?
Can either hold on to the pick or use it as ammo to go out and grab someone (an we still get to keep our first and still have two second rounders)

I'll say this, if Chytil can continue to play as he has the last couple of games, then perhaps letting Strome walk and improving the wing depth becomes a better conversation.

I have routinely asked myself, 'is the issue with Chytil, or is it that they are no longer properly supporting him with good 2-way wingers to augment his game?'

I am beginning to think it's the latter.
I think a lot of it is just people's expectations. Last year he paced 40 and his most common linemates were Laf and Kakko. Generally that 40 mark is kind of the upper echelon of 3rd line production, especially with no PP time. This year he's been stapled to Gauthier, they've struggled a ton and now the narrative has kinda changed up a bit. I have no problem saying he hasn't looked particularly impressive on that line. Would it be nice if he could single handedly carry that 3rd line, sure, I dont know if thats realistic though. He's looked plenty fine in the few spurts we get to see of him in the top 6. If we look at some of the deeper teams in the league, or just our own a few years ago... playing 13/14 minutes a night next to a Brendan Saad, a Mats Zuccarello, a Dadonov? I don't know, the conversation could be different. He makes plenty of nice plays each game.. of course there's some mistakes, every player makes them. To me theres plenty to suggest he'd bode well with extra minutes and better line mates.

Some of the realistic targets we've been talking about here that can fit within our budget, Tage Thompson, McCann, Barbashev, all good pieces, maybe bring a little extra dimension... but frankly, haven't done anything more than Chytil has at the same point. The same goes for guys like Karlsson, Bennett, Strome, etc... Theres a lot of talent in this league.. theres a laundry list of players like that, multiple each season, who just take off and its a matter of getting some better line mates and some extra minutes. I think with where this team is currently at you do a huge disservice by not giving your guy a season to see before you look to bring someone else in.

Yeah you’re correct. Point still stands that we wouldn’t really be able to extend him with the cap crunch we have this summer.
He’s also gonna get at or near a Zib contract on his next deal, and also Winnipeg is probably not interested in moving him for a variety of reasons.

Krav for Lehkonen is going to get done in some way shape or form imo.
Who adds what to balance it, I have no clue. Just a gut feeling.

I hope Drury does his due diligence. If we could get their first or their high second for Kravy and attach a decent prospect we may be able to get a better scoring winger. Calgary did that and got a Toffoli. Just food for thought

Not bad ...I have a Gretzky O-Pee-Chee RC ...came from a pack I bought in 1981 at a small time convenience store . I figure it is worth a few thousand . I can't ever see myself sending it away to be graded....

Bummer if Miller is off the market, would have been a fantastic fit in my book.

I wouldn't deal Schneider for him though.

VAN may not want to trade him now, but they also probably need to find out if they can sign him long-term before they totally dismiss dealing him. Wasnt that the whole point of him being available in the first place?

Gorton sat on his hands when players like Bennet & PLD were available last season. Both guys couldve really helped us. Too much patience was JG's downfall.
