Good lord put that in my veins!
The question is cost.
I'd imagine Nils + VK +1st would be the starting offer.
I'd possibly put chytil in the offer as well even though it would weaken us slightly this year. I'd even say a 2nd or another B prospect could end up being in there.
So you could maximum look at FC, Nils, VK, 1st + 2nd .

Thats a heavy package and probably more than we offered for Eichel, which makes sense considering Eichel was injured and a larger salary.

Scheifele is the guy in the summer to trade for. If Winnipeg is open to it mid-season, you have the conversation but I feel like it would take an overpay. Peg will want Schneider because they need defense, but if the Rangers hold off on dealing prime assets at the deadline, maybe you can sell them on a quantity over quality package. Something like:

Lundkvist, Chytil, Robertson, 2022 1st for Scheifele

And dont give me the "hes not an upgrade over Strome" BS. I like Strome a lot but hes an extremely limited player. Scheifele is a much better finisher and his compete level is much higher. I also think with a new team and less responsibility we would see his defensive game improve

Could not agree more with all of this - I'd even consider Miller if need be with the way Jones is playing and Robertson in the pipeline - as much as it would hurt. His contract also ends at a time where the cap should start trending up -- and/or when Kreider/Trouba's NMC slide and if his performance dictates, the Rangers can re-up him.

Contract/skill wise/need wise - I don't think there will be a more ideal target in the league. Just need to hope the Peg would actually be open to moving him - which I still have my doubts on.

I think if you throw Chytil in with the other 2, then the 1st should be enough without the addition of the 2nd. Then send a conditional 3rd 2024 (becomes 2nd in 2023 or 2024 if Rangers win or something like that), to Ottawa/Seattle/Arizona/Buffalo to hold 50%.

I am starting to fear the trade deadline rather than look forward to it.

The only real worry i have is them potentially overpaying for Chiarot, but Drury doesnt strike me as someone who will win a bidding war with other teams closer to the Cup like TML/FLA/STL.

My predictions would be that we see Kravtsov moved for a bonafide 3rd line player like Lehkonen who is an excellent fit. From there they would still need a top 6 forward. Historically, top 6 wingers have gone for a 2nd and another pick depending on the quality. Ill say the Blues 2nd & a 2023 3rd for a guy like Copp/Rakell/Domi. I hope they stick with what they have on D unless they can get a depth guy cheap.

Save the big moves for the summer.

My feeling on Chiarot is that the Leafs need him most. He’s almost exactly what they need and if their front office has a brain, they’ll make it happen. I know the two teams don’t like to help each other but they’re in totally different situations this year. And I don’t think Gorton will have any problems making a trade with the Leafs. Anyhow, to me, it should be Chiarot to the Leafs.

You should.

Lil Jimmy was inpatient last year. Imagine him this year?

Scares me to death.
The Knicks were strong last year and the Rangers were having issues. This year the shoe is on the other foot so I’d think LJ is preoccupied with the Knicks now. At least that’s what I hope.

Elliot Friedman alluded to JT Miller wanting out of Canada on Jeff Marek’s podcast not too long ago. Canada was already an unattractive place before the pandemic because of high taxes and media scrutiny. Now, Canada has gone full communist. Canucks would be taking a chance by not moving him sooner rather than later.

without wanting to get into any political discussion on covid - i do wonder how the differences that currently exist btw us and canadian teams for players will effect free agency / potential trades. its no secret many players on canadian teams arent happy with no fans, esp when they watch us teams with full barns every night. have a feeling that will have an impact for the next couple years...to what degree will be interesting to see

Trade wise - yes, it’s been reported that the current rules make it so that players don’t want to go there.

FA - won’t make a difference. They’ll have full buildings to start next season.

Friedman spoke about that, as well. He asked an anonymous Canadian player whether he would like to play for a Canadian team again. The player’s reply “Canada, no way!” I’m paraphrasing a bit, but you get the sentiment.

right agree next year will be penned in as normal after the season - and generally speaking you very well could be spot on with there being no fa impact. but for my 2 cents im suspecting there will be a fear of going there for a lot of players and having things change again. dont get me wrong money talks and theres obviously a ton of canadian players in the league, playing at home will still have an allure etc. so they will sign people. think teams will have to pay a premium though and more than a few of the players with a lot of options not even considering - and things staying that way until theres been 2 consecutive normal seasons at least.

Gorton sat on his hands when players like Bennet & PLD were available last season. Both guys couldve really helped us. Too much patience was JG's downfall.
Yeah. That was a blunder. For sure

The year they were born, I guess
Kinda out there and excuse me for being a bit opioid dazed, but, this reminds me of the song lyrics I wrote like 25 years ago:
Is it 69 or 96?
Is it this we do to get our kicks?
A lotta people saying its all gonna end
So nów I call you lover, instead of my friend

Seemed fitting....
