VAN may not want to trade him now, but they also probably need to find out if they can sign him long-term before they totally dismiss dealing him. Wasnt that the whole point of him being available in the first place?

I hope they extend him for crazy money in the summer. May they have much joy from him.

Jason Strudwick was on. Really entertaining, lots of Ranger stories.

Scheifele is the guy in the summer to trade for. If Winnipeg is open to it mid-season, you have the conversation but I feel like it would take an overpay. Peg will want Schneider because they need defense, but if the Rangers hold off on dealing prime assets at the deadline, maybe you can sell them on a quantity over quality package. Something like:

Lundkvist, Chytil, Robertson, 2022 1st for Scheifele

And dont give me the "hes not an upgrade over Strome" BS. I like Strome a lot but hes an extremely limited player. Scheifele is a much better finisher and his compete level is much higher. I also think with a new team and less responsibility we would see his defensive game improve

Lmao

Everyone's piling on Strome, but being fair there was obviously something very off with the ice. Almost every shooter on both teams had the puck bounce on them and lost control, Fox & one of their shooters didn't even register a shot because they both completely lost the puck.

The ice was also terrible on Tuesday against Boston. I was close to ice level and you could tell the water was not freezing as quick as they wanted. Multiple players were falling around the circles as well

Elliot Friedman alluded to JT Miller wanting out of Canada on Jeff Marek’s podcast not too long ago. Canada was already an unattractive place before the pandemic because of high taxes and media scrutiny. Now, Canada has gone full communist. Canucks would be taking a chance by not moving him sooner rather than later.

If he isnt traded by the deadline, he will truly be a rental next season where they will be getting a 1st and a solid prospect for him.

Or they can resign him at 30yo.

Thats the options.

The longer thy take to move him the lesser the return will be. So by all means, Van continue to hold onto him.

You literally just named a package that would most likely get any center you want. You are giving up massive quality and quantity lol.

Thats two top 4 defender prospects, a top 9 player and a 1st, all kids under 22yo for schiefele?

I don't think that would get it done for Scheifele. I think it would take a piece that some fans would really hate to give up. Whether it's Kakko or Schneider, Lafreniere less likely.

Are you seriously saying that you are dealing quantity in this package?

If its less than that ill be happy to be wrong, but like JT Miller, hes a prime aged 80 point C signed at an absurd discount for 2 full years. We should be jumping for joy if we can get him without dealing one of Schneider/Miller/Laf/Kakko. Othmann i think would be on the table in a Scheifele trade.

Totally agree. Im holding Miller/Schneider/Laf no matter what. Kakko's next contract complicates matters so i could see him being in the discussions if they came up.

The issue is that if we are dealing those prime assets especially in that quantity it should be a player that will be with us for many years. Not a short term rental like Miller or Schiefele.

Othmann would most definitely be off the table.

Listen i get that, but its a season and a half and then they are both gone. They are long term rentals. You dont give up that amount of talented kids for a rental.

Youd have Scheifele for 2 full seasons in the middle of our Cup window, I don't really consider that short term. I get the hesitancy to deal some of these assets, but at some point you have to take a swing, especially on an impact center who isnt going to break the bank financially.

Rangers get Tyler Boucher and Ridley Greig
Senators get Kravtsov, Lundkvist and 2ed (Blues)
I heard Boucher is having a very underwhelming season. Injuries maybe? If that is the case why are we throwing in a second as well?

Like I said, now that Bobrov is officially in Montreal, just start pressing the Kravtsov jerseys now. Lehkonen and Pacquette? Pac and Romanov just got into a bit of a scuff at practice. Pac played with goodrow in Tampa and won a cup. It just fits like a glove.

It’ll feel like an underwhelming return but I think you’re right that we should start preparing ourselves for it. I really want VK to return and succeed here but I have to admit that it feels very unlikely.

2 full years and then who knows what the cap will be then, he might even be singable. But it’s something you don’t have to worry about for 2 years which makes him even more of an attractive piece.
And you've got a 1-2 in the top 5. He's got that physical style that would probably eliminate the grind position on the right side, and maybe let kakko play that game he's really good at with more puck possession.

Today was a good day. Stars wars, non sports cards for Wayne, unscratched! Off centered but still a good piece for the collection.

I bought a box of Topps back in the day and ended up with (2) Gretzky's RC

They were both scratched and my toddler younger brother got a hold of them and decided to tear one of them up.

Caught him before he got to the other.

You have to wonder if it was Bobrov/Gorton who were possibly making empty promises to Kravtsov when he signed his ELC. If that’s the case, would Vitali even want to go MTL?

Paquette isn’t a bad cheap depth add
