I don't want Marc Staal back unless its for depth but i wonder if they are maybe thinking Eric might come here if Marc is here. I reiterate i do not want Marc but i wouldnt mind Eric.

Eric doesn't like playing against his brothers (because he concusses them and ruins their careers), so I think he'd probably try to avoid the Metro teams and Boston, who looks poised for a wildcard spot. Could be a beggars/choosers situation though.

Its funny how we originally got mad at rangers for skipping walhstrom, then became enamored with kravstov at first because you could see the skill. All of a sudden... drama, drama and more drama. I don't know what his value is percieved as now. It is higher than lias was, but I still see it as a late first round pick. He doesnt have that A + status. The only one in the rangers current crop is probably otthman and I will be in disbelief if they trade drury's first pick as gm.

We know our pieces and have been beating the drum til it broke. Rangers should pursue lekohnen. The b6 will just grind them away and keep the puck in their zone so you can bring in the big guns when the guys on their side of the ice are wiped. Lekohnen chytil goodrow has a good mix of everything and can allow chytil to maybe get back some of his mojo. Im not worried about kakko out. He will be back and then you have 2rw filled. Honestly get a top nine player just in case. Then you have a decent team with the best goaltending to get you through.

There was a good amount of posters all over Farabee in that draft year as well. He was mentioned in that draft thread often with Wahlstrom, and Dobson, and Kravtsov etc.

First big trade and where's Drury? Asleep at the wheel. This team couldn't use a top 6 RW on a good contract? They could have afforded the extra two years by not extending Strome and going cheap at C next year. Maybe could have paid extra to see if they would retain. Although he probably burned his bridges with MTL when he convinced Dolan to fire JD and Gorton so he could take over control of the organization.

Thats interesting. I thought Gorton and Drury are really tight?

Don't forget that Gorton did a ton of talking to Calgary while with the Rangers. I am not surprised that they teamed up on a deal here. I'm sure Gorton has a good idea of what Calgary has to offer with their prospects.

I'm sure he'll circle around with Drury and see what he can pry away. Hopefully it isn't for Chiarot as Staple mentioned. Dvorak or Lehkonen would be interesting adds for this roster. Flipping their 1st and pieces for Dvorak would be ideal if he is available. If Gorton is tearing this thing down, Dvorak will be. That's a ticket to another #1 pick. Would give them 3 1sts with also likely having the 33rd pick in the draft.

Since the previous regime made that move, I would not be surprised if he is moved at the deadline or the draft. I believe the Rangers were involved in those trade discussions with the Coyotes, so Drury will need to call his old boss and hopefully can make a deal. I'd rather have Dvorak than Miller since he has more term and can either replace Strome or compliment Strome and Zibanejad down the middle.

The Rangers seeming indifference to Kravtsov and the lack of serious interest around the league speak volumes imo. This guy was a top 10 pick 3 years ago and no one will give up more than a 2nd (if that). Another Bobrov special!
This. I really don’t know what some expect to get in return for him at this point.
If he was worth even a late 1st, he would have been traded already.
Drury isn’t just going to give him away for nothing, but he’s also not going to be the main piece for some impact player for us in a 1for 1 trade at this point

Im assuming that the deal helps the Rangers as buyers. Value seemed relatively even for both clubs, but it takes another buyer out of the equation. Off memory, I believe Vegas, Calgary, Florida, Colorado and Carolina all moved thier first rounders already. Is that correct?

Leaves Boston, Washington, Toronto, Tampa in the east. Minnesota, Nashville, LA, St Louis in the west. Is LA going to be buyers?

I also would absolutely love to add Connor Brown as a double rental at 50%. Thats the kind of Goodrow/Coleman to TB type move we should be looking at.

Been on this train of thought for a while. I'm willing to give up that 1st rounder for him, especially at 50% retained. 1st and Kravtsov would be perfect IMO. Sens fans on the trade board seemed to not want to be dealing for 1st rounders anymore, I think that value for them makes them take it and maybe use the pick as ammo for another trade. Brown and Dvorak would be two perfect adds playoff runs that wouldn't be a huge burden on the cap and fill important roles. Brown could walk when his 2 years are done and there should be internal replacements that are up to snuff for his role.

This was also in the Staple article. No idea how the cap would work next season but it’s fun to think about.

Patrick Kane

Speaking of farfetched … Kane is still an elite right wing and he’s also the face of the Hawks. He just expressed a desire to have some input with Chicago brass on its GM search, which doesn’t sound like a star player looking for the exit. But the Hawks will definitely not have it turned around by next season, the last on Kane’s deal. Sources say Kane has yet to make a decision on whether he wants to stick around or go elsewhere; if he does want to leave, the Rangers make sense on a few levels.
The Hawks would have to pick up part of the $10.5 million cap hit this season and next. With a full no-move and the decision squarely in Kane’s hands, if he wants to move and only wants to come to New York, the trade part of it wouldn’t be so steep.
But there are a few steps before all that, none of which have been taken as of now.

Brown and Dvorak at 50% retained seems like pie in the sky, but if there was ever a time to overpay to get guys locked in for a few years with cheap contracts, its now.

he strome and panarin would somehow somehow mannage 3 consecutive mins of zone time without a shot ha

debrincat was a name that popped up not long ago but his contract wouldnt work here.

Dvo has been one of the habs better players of late.
Not having the best year, but I’d def still like him here.
Imo he’s still a better solution then chytil at 3C.
I wouldn’t deal Lundkvist for him though, but if MtL retains 50% and sends Lehkonen too,???

Dvorak and Lehkonen are a very real possibility. We also have the pieces to make it happen. I don't know if Montreal is in a position to be able to retain on Dvorak though. But as a 3rd line center between Lehkonen and Goodrow he would work quite well, especially at 2.25. Not the best but would be a very good contract.

Dvorak is injured and hasn't played in 3 weeks. Not sure how he's been one of there better players of late.
