Based on?

The power of my air flow.

If you're asking for the validity of said rumor? I don't think there is any, someone mentioned it thinking maybe we could pry away one of their previous guys with one of the guys currently in our system. They'd likely be looking to add players along with Guhle rather than trying to swap him for someone else.

But if there was any way to make that happen, I'm all about it. Guhle is one of my favorite D prospects not in the league yet.

It is and i wish they would show patience, but i get the feeling Drury will move it this year.
I am very nervous about this too. The thing is he can go out and bring in 2, 3 low cost rental guys if he wants and satiate Dolan's bloodlust and not go spending a shit ton of important assets on short term fixes. Hopefully with the Knicks back to being crappy and the Rangers on the path for the playoffs he goes back to messing around with them.

They had Schneider much higher than they picked him at.
They did, but Guhle went before we moved up for Schneider and I know that Edge said that we liked him. It's probably likely they had Schneider above Guhle but I do wonder. Regardless I think Gorton is happy to have him in his farm.

I'm surprised you are burning Othmann's ELC year next season since you're one of the hardest "2nd window" advocates on here.

I think if a rookie forward plays here next season it'll be either Cuylle or Barron.

I wasn't really thinking of it in those terms, but good point.

I was referring to a laughable gap between Lundkvist and Guhle.

Doesn’t really matter. I was just curious. I don’t see Montreal in the business of prospect swapping. They will be in the business of adding them.

Lehkonen-Goodrow-Blais

It would be affordable and more than solid as a 3rd line shut down line.

Think I'd want a little more scoring on a third line, plus, added benefit, you get a third line player playing as a big plus on a fourth line.

We may be saying the same thing here, but in my opinion, Laf and Kakko are going to have to support whoever centers them, not the other way around.

This forward corps is built on the wing. That’s not going to change unless we decide to trade one or more of Panarin, Kreider, Laf and Kakko. You can’t pay stars at every position.

If Laf and Kakko become the players they are meant to be, they will get paid, and all we’ll be able to afford is a cheap guy to stick in between them. We need to find the right cheap guy, or guys. Trading for and developing a star 2C has to come at the expense of one of the other young forwards. You can’t have stars at every position with the cap.

This is exactly what’s going on with Panarin and Strome right now. We can’t afford to keep Strome, but we also probably don’t have to because Panarin can find similar success with any no name that can skate.

And while an Eichel-like target would have been option 1 for me, I continue to name names like Lundell and Holloway for a reason.

Neither of those guys are 80-90 point centers. They are well-rounded, defensively responsible support centers who can perhaps project to be solid 1Cs (for Lundell) or 2Cs (for Holloway) when supported by elite wings. Ie, Stepan like. In Lundells case, probably better than Stepan, he's probably more like a 60-70 point center with the wings we have.

Still gotta go get 1 or 2.

My preferred scenario, and I'm just naming archtypes here, not suggesting these particular players, would be, if we can't get an Eichel, to get a Lundell TYPE and a Holloway type very soon. They are, for now, cheap and stashable at positions beside center. You re-sign Strome to a movable contract.

Eventually, Strome is gone. Your center depth is Zibanejad-Lundell-Holloway. Very nice two way play down the middle there.

Even further down the road, Zibanejad transitions to 2C. You now have three very nice centers, none elite, but you are being carried by elite wingers in Kakko and Laf, and very good middle-six wingers like Othmann, Chytil, maybe Krav, etc.

Again, I'm not naming names, more like types.

Those two guys are mid-late firsts. We can't find two hits like that to grow with the team? Poppycock.

Rangers biggest problem is the center ice position. You can't go out and throw money on a third liner without figuring that out first.

I feel this is a bit short-sighted though. The team has a clear need right now, and moving forward, on the 3rd line (or another way to put this is they really could use more depth and a swiss-army knife player). They have the ability to add one, who can be around for a while due to being a RFA, that won't cost a ton to acquire (or at least shouldn't) and won't break the bank on his contract. His age fits with this group as well.

He also lost plenty because the team in front of him wasn't good enough.

Going after spelling on a message board post? That's when I know I've won my argument.

You brought up spelling something out, not me. You're argument was that the rangers won't win a playoff series this year and then somehow thought you could use hank's rangers to support that argument. The Rangers will win a playoff series long before you ever win an argument with that kind of backwards logic. Now stop besmirching the King's name, you're only making it worse.

Could he go for a 1st? I would not do that. But would Blues 2ed be enough?
No he won't go for a first. But he's the type of player teams want at the deadline for playoff pushes, if he's on the market there will be a bidding war for him.

I think he'd get a 2nd and a B prospect.

If we're looking at Ottawa, I'd focus on Tierney or maybe Sanford. Both of whom will cost much less and add depth of versatile, bottom 6 guys.
