Kreider Zibs Laffy
Panarin Strome Chytil
Lekhonen Goodrow Kakko
Hunt Rooney Reaves

Line 1 and 3 are our matchup lines.

Laffy is showing signs. He's been good in all 3 zones IMO and the most active on that line

If Chytil skates like he skated last night, he becomes a massive asset to Panarin. He can create space, create turnovers and help with the forecheck.

Line 3 would be our top matchup line. Kakko can drive the offense and lead the forecheck

Lindgren Fox
KAM Trouba
Jones Schneider

IMO best d-corps in the league

That's a lot of questions that need to be answered, and some a lot more important than paying a third liner.

Well yes, of course. These are hypotheticals that none of us have answers to. I will only say that I am more than okay building this teams 3rd line around a pairing of Lehkonen-Goodrow for the next 3-5 years. Rotate wingers around them. The issue is, as always, the 2C spot. Part of this assumes that the team can get Strome done at a reasonable cap hit, or someone like him. Again, the crunch is really next year.

They were outshot all playoffs last year.

In fact most of the high volume shooting teams in the postseason saw first round exits.
Shots on goal per game for Tampa in the playoffs were 29.6, shots against were 30.4. Brutally outshot every game to get those numbers I guess. Definitely relatable to the Rangers.....

Tampa was also 10th in the league in shots per game in the regular season last year. Rangers are currently 29th.

Rangers biggest problem is the center ice position. You can't go out and throw money on a third liner without figuring that out first.

Kravtsov for Lekhonen? The Rangers don't want to recreate the Andersson deal for a 2nd. The NHL exec made the comment in The Athletic article yesterday. Lekhonen is worth a 2nd as a rental. Kravtsov's value is a 2nd round pick. Lekhonen is a group II with arb rights this summer. How much will it cost to keep him beyond one more season? Lekhonen could be good for Kakko. A fellow countryman on the roster.

From today's 32 thoughts:

6. As conversations intensified Sunday, there was a point where Calgary talked about both Toffoli and Chiarot. It seems likely the Canadiens can maximize return by trading them separately, but those discussions occurred. The injury shouldn’t scare anyone off, although it may accelerate things. Carolina, Florida, Los Angeles, St. Louis among the pursuers.

Not seeing the Rangers name listed there.

Chiarot won’t be a Ranger. It’s not a need and we won’t outbid Florida or the Blues

He's undersized, sure, but he has an elite shot and goal scoring ability. He hasn't yet found his stride, but I could absolutely see him finding some room to shoot skating opposite of Artemi. If Kravy won't play again for the NYR, I want another high talent RW'er in trade. I think Caulfield could end up being a great player and phenomenal goal scorer in the NHL.

Thank you for answering. I am in no way trying to be a hater or a dick about it. I dont see the same things you do with Caufield and honestly he shouldnt be playing with the top two lines with kakko and laf here.

If you wanted to deal kravy for Caufield id be down. But not interested in dealing away nils for him. I feel that he is better served being used in a larger package for the center we need on this team bc i dont feel that strome is the answer.

I for one really want to know. Can he?!

We all know, he'll score an empty netter at some point in his career. I want a shootout goal too.

So the rules are a bit vague on what an eligible player is (other than not serving a match penalty).

Gameplay rules don't allow a goalie to play the puck beyond the red line. So if that is enforced, a goalie couldn't carry the puck down ice.

To successfully start a penalty shot, you must move the puck forwards. BUT, technically I'd like to make the argument a goalie could attempt a shootout, but their only option would to be taking a slapshot immediately from the red line, and not crossing.

TL : DR Essentially, no, but boy it would be fun.

With Blais returning, does Lekhonen have a spot here?
injuries always happen to open spots. we are complaining all season about a lack of depth and seeing mckegg play, so yeah I'm okay with internal competition for spots...

Kravstov for Lehknonen seems to it is becoming more and more clear

Expand it a bit?

Lundkvist + Gauthier + Kravstov for Caufield + Lehkonen

Not hating on Lehkonen and I realize Kravtsov's value probably has never been lower but I can't believe we would do that trade one for one. I can't deal with another Buch type outcome if Kravy starts putting up .75-1ppg playing on Montreal's top 6 next year.

Guy, you keep proving my point with your examples don't get angry at me for that. You first showed me a time where an elite goaltender couldnt bring the cup all by himself who then won with an elite team in front of him, and then you started talking about a team that won 3 cups without relying solely on an elite goaltender.

The point is that this team needs to be more than the goalie, and the team needs to play better in front of him in order for them to have any chance of winning when it matters most. Stop with the hyperbolic "weLL jUst tRadE IgOR THen" stuff because that's not the point. Elite goaltending alone doesn't win championships. It's great to have, but that alone doesn't get you there.
Why would you call him hyperbolic to say trade igor when all you do is devalue elite goaltending.

If elite goaltending actually doesnt matter than trade him to open up long term cap space and ride with georgiev.

Listening to Montreal radio it seems like the new top line in Anderson-Suzuki-Caufield (i Know it's not saying much coming from the worst team in hockey). I doubt it's to up his trade value. Caufield is literally the only legit goal scoring threat that team has for the future right now. Even as helpful Nils would be for them why would they want to trade Caufield?
