KCB kept the team afloat when Mika was out. That was our best line up until that point.

but I dont see them taking KZ apart

plus I think they see the value in having 2 good lines by keeping panarin and mika apart....think similar to the pens with crosby & malkin where they were separate as a 1/2 punch but then put together on the same line when needed.

Past the first round

At this point in time I would just like to point out that the Caps HAD Ovechkin playing in the playoffs last year and he even had 9 pts....and they still lost in the first round. In 09-10 they were the president trophy winners...lost in the first round. Same happened to the Penguins a couple of times, even with a healthy Crosby and Malkin. Same happened to Blackhawks in 16-17, Same happened to the Lightning and in embarrassing fashion.

Everyone wants to put Buch into a deal for a LHD, but I wouldn't be surprised if ADA was the trade bait.

Not everyone, it just seems so became select posters put 3-4 DAILY posts with the same Buch trade proposals as if afraid we'd accidentally forget. Reminds me of Memento.

Rangers power play goals for and against by month:

Oct. For--7 Against--7
Nov. For--11 Against--16
Dec. For--7 Against--10
Jan. For-11 Against--4
Feb. (so far) For--9 Against--6

Rangers are the most penalized team in the league but since January we've outscored opponents on the powerplay 20 to 10---so our penalty kill has actually been pretty good. 7 of the 43 power play goals scored against us came on our Florida trip in mid-November which kind of skews our numbers as we're 19th in the league on the PK. Take those two games away and we'd be a lot better.

We're also 11-3-0 since the All Star break.

Another young player leaning on Chris Kreider???

Yea the intangibles dont exist, no value there....

If Gauthier becomes a Kreider-lite...and we still have Kreider....wow
They said that CK20 was also mentoring KK.

I only meant they should do that is Chytil/Kravstov take the next step. That would be a very good line if they improve.

Georgiev confirmed starter tomorrow.

don’t be surprised when Gauthier is scratched to keep McKegg in who frankly should be playing instead of Howden.

Howden should be on a wing, not center. Yesterday the right move would've been to keep Chytil at center and let Kakko move up. McKegg is definitely a more capable center - one of the reasons why the 4th line looked better last night.

Not due to an injury or catching up because he missed a lot of games early on? Seems contradictory to reports we were getting from those who watched Wolfpack regularly.
He's apparently healthy. The reports I get from the folks I know that watch every game say that he gets torched on a nightly basis in his own end. He's a fine skater and good with the puck on his stick, but he makes at least two egregious defensive zone errors a game. Poor awareness of where he needs to be in his own end.

I hope I eat crow on him (har har), but I'd be floored if he earned an NHL spot next year and stuck. He's more likely than not going back to Russia next year.

Coincided with Strome being inserted into PP1 and call up of Shesterkin from Hartford.

Or it shows confidence in your core vets and that Kakko, Chytil and Kravtsov will develop and show growth..
While I am sure that Kakko, Chytil and Kravtsov will take steps forward and am sure that management is expecting them to, I doubt that they are expecting them to equal Buch's production. Not next year. And frankly they are counting on those type of players to have their own production, not use it as a supplement for loosing another source.
The point of the move is to bring balance for competing. Put our young top6 talent in the top6 and find checking line players. Buch has 1 year left until he hits RFA. He's not here for long term.
I do not disagree. I think that the team was going forward with either him or Kreider, not both. I just believe that if and when he is traded that it will only be for future considerations and not a young player that can instantly go into the line up.

Why in the world are you guys trying to sign bottom pairing left defensemen?!?!

we already have smith and Staal just keep them if you desperately want a Joel Edmondson jeeeeeeeeeesus

Few years ago there were ad nauseam discussions of what’s more important top quality or depth. In reality you need both. In this regard it’s not only your top line, not only top two lines but quality that even spills into the third line is needed. Today it looks like the Rangers figured out their top line and LW on the second. The rest are up and comers with a very good shot based on glimpses that we’ve seen. Fast forward two years from now, if the development continues as expected for some of our top prospects, the Rangers could be able to go with

Kreider - Zibanejad - Buchnevich
Panarin - Strome - Kakko
Gauthier - Chytil - Kravtsov
Lemieux - Barron - Howden

Depth of quality.
