I was mildly excited about the trend in 2017 to draft more Euros and going deeper into the Russians but by the end of the rebuild, I'm fully onboard with the old all American program with a few Swedes and a few Canadians sprinkled in there.

32T between periods:

Marek says Van is interested in Zacha.

Ellitotte says Toronto is working to move Ritchie. Says Rangers, among others, in on Chiarot. SJ/Hertl working seriously on extension.

Bingo, There’s no checklist to win a Stanley Cup. You work to acquire a core of elite talent and then you build around them to the best of your ability while they are in their prime. The Rangers are blessed with top u23 NHL talent, a top 10 prospect pool and all their draft picks. They need to start using some of it to win now. Thats how they can create a culture of winning that extends windows.

There actually is a checklist.

Ben Chiarot is so overrated, I will be upset if they trade a 1st for him. I'd be upset if they traded for him at all. I bet they can get De Haan for less and he's a better player than Chiarot is.

People going hard after former late 1st rounders drafted just this past season, and yet the many are clamoring to move the Rangers 1st for a rental or player who will be here only for about 15 months.

Hold on to that pick. This team isn’t THAT close.
Maybe. But by the same token, I don’t think this team is that far away. If this team could add a pain in the ass hard working 3rd liner then they will be that much closer. And at that point, depending on final cost, I am about adding a 2C. That makes the team very difficult to play against this year. And if its JT Miller, it makes them even better for next. You could likely find another pesky 3rd liner next year for a 4th round pick, while having Miller for a full year as well as your group having a full year together. Sign UDFAs and European FAs to restock the cupboard.

I’m not sure we should be so quick to ship out Othmann at this point.

Othmann, Schneider, Laf, Kakko and Garand should be the next wave and fairly untouchable.

To be clear, there are VERY few scenarios where I willingly put Othmann in the offer. But for Wyatt Johnston? 100% without qualms. Johnston is a C, has about 15 more points than Othmann, and is ~5 months younger, still just 18 years old. If he had played in his draft season, I think Johnston would have gone top 10.

Reading and article from someone named Jonah Wheeland about the Blackhawks moving Dylan Strome to the Rangers amongst a couple of other teams.

Paraphrasing here but basically is implying that Dylan and a 3rd or 4th for Kakko would be the move to make.

Briefly put out Laf or Chytil as targets to put the Stromes together.

Toronto signed Ritchie to a good cap amount. He passed through waivers. Now they’re aggressively shopping him. Guess we were right to stay away.

Just saw it. That is...the strangest fan blog thing I think I've ever seen. He thinks he can get Kakko from the Rangers, but then goes on to say that he thinks Strome would return a "3rd or 4th rounder" from Edmonton, and he never actually says what he thinks he could get from Boston (though the implication is DeBrusk).

Eichel was just traded for Krebs and Tuch.

And I think Nils could fetch a Lundell type 1 for 1 if it was early enough. You have to nail a projection before the player proves it.
You're kidding right? You're bringing up eichel? I means let's ignore the injury and cap hit when talking about his value and the extremely unique situation.

Lundell? What team is trading a lundell type all situation center for a player like Nils? This is dillusion...

As I asked, if you had a potential 1c would you trade him for kravtsov Nils and a late 1st? You convinently avoided answering the question...

Depends. Do I have multiple center prospects and need top D prospects?
Would you trade a future borderline elite 1c for Brassard? Happened. Different organizations have different projections on players.
Was the package for Eichel that much better than this?
Sometimes opportunities come up.
Let’s not pretend this can’t happen.
Bringing up a 3 in a decade deal to justify delusion? How many brassard for zib deals have happened in the last 5 years?

People should realize by now all the reports related to the Rangers is Drury doing due diligence because 1) unlimited cap space 2) VK, Nils need to be moved in the next 6 months and 3) he's a methodical direct manager. Hard to really put stock into what will happen based on what we've heard.
