This is the same thing as all those stupid Kings offers for their centers. Teams don’t trade prospect centers for other prospects like this. Dallas doesn’t even consider this. If they were going to cash in on Johnson (they aren’t) they need to get an all star caliber player back.

Rangers just doing due diligence on Chairot. Weighs another option to bring up in talks for Chychrun. Also something that Montreal very definitely brought up to us when we approached about Lehkonen. All these players will be discussed in some capacity, even if it is just the Rangers front office entertaining the talk of someone that they don't really have interest in for the sake of keeping open and nice conversation flowing.

I was mildly excited about the trend in 2017 to draft more Euros and going deeper into the Russians but by the end of the rebuild, I'm fully onboard with the old all American program with a few Swedes and a few Canadians sprinkled in there.

Okay so you don’t know what they’ve shown on the ice either. Got it. It’s okay, I also cannot.

Schneider is ten games into his career so he has a longer clock on his ELC. Also as RHD with top 4 potential, that is more valuable than tweener wingers. Schneider also has a play style that tends to lend itself to long careers, even if the offense doesn’t come. But again, as a team with severe cap issues, the Rangers cannot afford to pay Kakko and Lafreniere to be passengers. Doesn’t be they are bad, but neither has shown enough to be an untouchable asset. Maybe Schneider hasn’t either but with two and a half years left on that ELC it’s not something that they need to rush to figure out.

that’s pretty deep, both Schneider and chiarot can handle more then 3rd pair minutes and both can move up in the line up if necessary.
The hope would be to increase the 3rd pairs minutes a little and keep the top 4 a little more fresh and reduce some wear and tear.
Our PP/Pk is going to be important for us in the postseason, chiarot and Schneider could both PK, and fox can get a breather a bit and still be a little more fresh for running the PP.
Lehkonen makes us better 5v5 and can PK if Needed. He also ups him game in the postseason...

Barron should be tried at the ??? On 3rd line. He has shown he can play the nhl game and isn’t overmatched.
His size and style of play are made for playoff hockey. I understand we have a jam and Chytil is still here, but Barron especially if flanked by 2 seasons vets in goodrow/Lehkonen would thrive imo.
I wish Gallant would give him a 10 or so game run at 3C leading up to the TDL.
I don’t think there’s any doubt the kid is gonna be an everyday player for us next year, kind as we’ll give him a chance to hit the ground running.
There’s really nothing to lose. If he performs, great. If gallant/Drury don’t like what they see, they can make. TDL move to add someone... no harm done.

Imo they should keep him on RW with strome/panarin while kakko is out.

Let Barron play 3C. If gallant doesn’t want Barron, play goodrow at 3C in the meantime

I'm actually kind of afraid to trade Nils, although I guess he's the odd man out. Still, an impressive junior career, ntm him winning the Borje Salming trophy as a kid playing in a man's league. At 21 years of age, he's got an extremely long road ahead of him. Yes Schneider is the better player as of right now, but who knows, Nils has plenty of time to continue and adapt to NA. He just needs to keep playing, and keep learning. With many young up and coming center men out there, there's no doubt the Rangers have the pool of young guns to get one. I'm guessing by the trade dead line, or during the Summer, something will get done.

Easily predicted Nemeth isn’t going anywhere. Most coaches are in love with playing two bigger dmen together. Jones and Nils will get a few rare games here and there but Hartford is their main address unless traded I just hope Nemeth turns his game around a bit he was awful as of late. Like horrible

I think theres more of a background issue with nemeth. He haant been himself this season and his play has taken a nosedive compared to his other seasons. If we keep him., we just hope hes good next year I guess.

could keep Nils and even let him play a year in Sweden if he wants. Then Trade Trouba in that offseason to create cap space

Maybe. But by the same token, I don’t think this team is that far away. If this team could add a pain in the ass hard working 3rd liner then they will be that much closer. And at that point, depending on final cost, I am about adding a 2C. That makes the team very difficult to play against this year. And if its JT Miller, it makes them even better for next. You could likely find another pesky 3rd liner next year for a 4th round pick, while having Miller for a full year as well as your group having a full year together. Sign UDFAs and European FAs to restock the cupboard.

Im onboard with adding a 3rd liner to help build that line. I’ve mentioned Lehkonen and Jarnkrok as options. Neither should break the bank.

What I absolutely hate is the thought of moving high end pieces and a 1st for a player who will be here for a short amount of time and who the team really shouldn’t re-sign with his deal starting in his 30-31 year old season in Miller.

It’s not the right move to empty the cupboard. He’s the wrong player. And that isn’t to say he is a bad player, he’s very good and he would check a lot of boxes but I’d prefer to see this specific group with a bit of help in the playoffs and then look around in the offseason.
