if you think there is a real chance to fix our poor LD (i mean to get top pairing LD) without trading ADA I admit my proposal was not a good idea I thought that our another assests (not named ADA) are not good enough to get an elite/very good player at LD who can defend against best nhl forwards. Apparently I was wrong

If we can move a single RHD to the Left we’d be set, some people say ADA actually prefers playing on the left but I haven’t found any source on that.

I don't disagree, but I think it's unrealistic to think they're going to trade someone they just signed to a long term deal.

Why not? Just because it would look bad? I’m sure they could find a suitor, after buying out hometown boy Shattenkirk who took a discount to sign here I wouldn’t rule it out

Fair points. I really only envision him agreeing to go to San Jose or Vegas, that's the perfect spot for him to have a one year vacation before retirement.

I don't dislike Trouba, but I can't help but think how much better it would be for us is he was a left handed shot.

It would be better for us because, if Trouba was a LHD, we probably wouldn’t have traded for him.

He can be a starter in SJ who I think will have a bounce back season next year. Not saying they'll get back to their usual heyday but no way it can get any worse than this season has gone.

SJ is a perfect fit to get the 31 more wins he would need to retire 3rd all time in wins (though Fleury is right there too), Vegas he would be the perfect #2 to take some pressure of Flower on a top Cup contender.

Really depends on what his priorities are at this point.

Guess it really is a horrible TDL weekend so far when we are arguing about who is better between two terrific young RHD dmen we have.
Anyway, last year there were some decent deals made on the weekend before the TDL. I can't believe we won't see one decent trade this weekend???

In the abstract it's not very different from having an LD play RD. Vegas are currently playing six left shooting defencemen.

Now it's a lot more common for LDs to have significant experience playing RD than the other way around since RDs are more scarce, but DeAngelo played a lot of LD in juniors so this shouldn't be an issue here.

1st and a decent prospect is what i'm thinking we end up with since teams know Gorton has to accept or risk losing Kreider for nothing within hours (assuming it come down to the wire which i'm sure it will since we gave Kreider so long to try and decide if wants to play here or not)

I think that depends on your definition of a top prospect.

If it's someone like Newhook , Dobson, or Byram, then no.

If its someone like Studnika, Kaut, Wahlstrom, or Kostin, then possibly yeah.
