How about Quinn continuing to say there’s a great feeling in the locker room they’re not worried about the deadline. Doesn’t sound like a team about to sell off a core piece of their lineup does it?

I get that you want this, and you get very....persistent...when you want something, but I think you're probably reading too much into this or misconstruing it a bit.

It's not a matter of whether the Rangers are debating Kreider's value vs. having prospects. Nor is it a matter of them wanting to "shake things up."

It's a matter of agreeing on a contract.

This deadline definitely has a different vibe than the last two. I wonder if management has made decisions already about how to handle the bad contracts (Lundqvist, Staal, Smith) this summer.

What do you expect him to say?

I hope we get out of the Trouba deal then. I don't like the idea of having 3 players tied up to 27 million, and 2 of them aren't even top players

Not saying it could be Kreider, but that package would be underwhelming

Heinen isn't equipped to play a #relentless style of hockey.
I can't picture the Rangers remotely having interest in John Moore.

So, if that was anywhere near the return Fire Gorton! Literally...its that bad!

But this is why I was saying that if he had no interest in a new deal CK would have been gone. Colorado is now in the drivers seat because they could get him for half the price now. Or they will simply look for a smaller deal or stand pat. They aren’t giving up a big return for a rental.

This assumes that Boston and Colorado were the only teams involved. They may have gotten the most pub, but there are definitely more teams with interest.

I’m sure. Let’s be honest some may not agree but we are much closer. Punting the season when we have a playoff shot sends a bad message. I’m not saying we should self rent CK or Fast but it’s obvious that there is a much better chance at a deal with CK than say Kevin Hayes

Again, I think we need to remove the word "interest" from the conversation of Krieder's contract.

There was, is, and will remain an interest. That's not what we should be questioning, or what's unknown.

What's unknown is whether both sides can arrive at a compromise that allows their relationship to continue. They're not debating each other's interest in one another.

Yeah

I’d be setting a hard deadline now. Can’t be f*cking around with this contract until Monday.

If he’s not agreed to something by Sunday morning that’s it

It's also possible that the deadline is out there, as is an offer, and Kreider's camp is dragging it out to see if they can gain any last bit of leverage.

Value will never be higher than it is today

I disagree. Teams are going to be wary about his ability to produce away from Panarin, and his pending RFA status might scare them off unless they can talk to him/his agent about what he's looking for. Strome signed to a 2 year deal and continuing to put up good numbers next year will have more value than he does now.

I know I meant serious discussions I guess is a better word

How the Rangers and Kreider are communicating right now

Lol what else is he supposed to say?

David Quinn addressed trade rumors surrounding one of his veteran leaders today.

"Get this f***ing guy off the team. I'm tired of him leaving the toilet seat up; we nearly lost Buchie the other day to an accidental drowning. And he needs to stop shaving his head and making weird faces in team photos, he looks like a God damn mental patient when he goes with that look. Oh yeah, and by the way, please give us lots of assets for him. We really need it."

The one thing Gorton can't afford to do is let the Kreider negotiations hinder him from making a good trade if they fall apart. Boston possibly being out certainly has a negative impact on that. Of course they could still offer up a pretty good package without a 1st involved, but they might not be prepared to go that route.

I'm not saying that it's the case, but we saw Gorton lose out on moving Zuccarello a couple years ago because he was laser-focused on McDonagh until the last few minutes. I have to think that this deadline is even more complicated.
