Pagnotta also feels the return for Kreider is in the neighborhood of a “first, top prospect and impactful asset (roster player or another prospect).

That's an absolute haul for a rental who has never hit 30 goals or sixty points.

I love what Chris brings in net front presence and vertical threat, but this shouldnt even be a debate at this point .

Bob has good contacts with Arizona. I wonder if it's them
Makes you wonder if there is some way they move keller since it doesn't seem to be working their for him and they could alleviate salary of potentially resigning CK. We know GMJG was high on him in his draft year. I would not encourage such a move even though the talent is there. Something is just lacking with that player. He has regressed since his rookie year.

Based on prices so far, that makes a lot of sense. He's the best player on the market. There is no other winger that is currently available that has that kind of impact. Mentioned before, but if Hoffman and/or Dadonov become available, that changes the dynamic.
Montreal is already possibly disturbing the ecosystem the last thing we need is the panthers to do the same. They are a joke if they become sellers

I think Dubas will find better options than Skjei+Geo for Nylander if he was actively shopping him.

Leafs boards is starting to turn on Marner. They could get a haul for him. A team that has good D but weak forwards like Minnesota, Columbus, Arizona could be a partner. Nylander has the better contract but Marner is the higher-end scorer.

Straight from the horse's mouth

I look forward to a list of examples of stud d men traded while on their elc...
Seth Jones comes to mind, but I’m not trying to make a foolish statement and suggest that that’s what Nylander will be traded for.

All I’m saying is players as young as Nylander who are signed long term and have already had very successful careers are very unlikely to be moved for a package like Skjei+Geo. That’s just a weak offer.

I could see Dubas try and target a very good young dmen as a basis for a trade with the way his team is composed and their desire to open up cap space.

Will he get that? Probably not, but that’s why I think he’d target over Skjei+Geo.

You don’t see players like Nylander moved very often, just like you don’t see young dmen with big potential.

It’s the Leafs:laugh:

They turn on everyone eventually. There’s been like 4 Matthews proposals in the last couple months.

That would be a hell of haul for Kreider and as much as I want to keep him, if you get all that for him take it and run. Can't be Arizona though, they don't have a first this year. I want top prospect, first round pick and another prospect.

Well they are convinced Matthews will Tavares them for Phoenix once his contract is up. Speaking of Tavares, although I hate the Islanders its gotta feel great for their fans to watch Leafs nation turn on pajama boy lately.

I think the Rangers want a 1st, an NHL player, and a A/B prospect. We'll see what they end up getting. Not AZ IMHO either as indicated above.

St. Louis might be it but doesn't mean there's a deal to made. They have assets, have a #1 and have an idea they could win the Cup again.

Agreed Marner>>>>nylander albeit I know marner makes much more money

Might be the right move for Toronto. Marner as at the root of their issues. Young star who got paid way too early, more interested in racking up points than playing winning hockey. Matthews too but he's an elite goal scorer and a center so he is more valuable.

that’s called asking for the moon because you aren’t really looking to trade the player unless you’re blown away.

IDK. There are like 2 teams that are in on Kreider. Colorado has stated they will not part with any top prospects and Boston doesn't really have any "top" prospects in their system. Maybe a surprise 3rd team off the top rope at the last minute?
I think we have to start to view the Beecher’s and kaut’s of the world as top prospects since its unlikely Newhook/Byram/studnicka are gonna be available

Why is there so much speculation over Kreider’s return? They traded McDonagh, Nash, Zuccarello, and Hayes at the TDL. We should have a good idea of the return. I know he’s the best rental available, but he’s still a rental. There’s nothing wrong with setting your expectations low.

This is Sergachev all over again. I don’t want to read people bitching over the return for years after the fact like that trade.
