Why is there so much speculation over Kreider’s return? They traded McDonagh, Nash, Zuccarello, and Hayes at the TDL. We should have a good idea of the return. I know he’s the best rental available, but he’s still a rental. There’s nothing wrong with setting your expectations low.

This is Sergachev all over again. I don’t want to read people bitching over the return for years after like that trade.
Kreider for a 3rd and 5th.

:)

I think Henrik must be in a state of mild shock. From the outside looking in I’m amazed Ranger brass is climbing this hill for a fight. And I sonny see why it’s even necessary. Maybe I’m misreading what’s happening but it really appears the Rangers are putting the screws to Hank.

And the truth is, from a certain perspective, you're right --- in some ways they are.

We're at the point where some of these conversations and decisions are going to get awfully uncomfortable. And quite a few of those are going to center around Lundqvist.

Very few people would ever dare say so publicly, but if Lundqvist announced his retirement tomorrow, there would be a collective sigh of relief.

Kreider isn't getting a 1st, top prospect, and an impactful roster player unless Gorton allows a team to negotiate an extension with him.

1st and a B prospect. A throw-in roster player if the team needs cap relief. The Toffoli deal set the market.

On the other hand I can't imagine Lundqvist didn't know this was a possibility...maybe he didn't quite believe it would happen this way but he knew that the Rangers had Shesterkin in the wings and were high on him, he knew Georgiev performed well and outplayed him at times last season. I'm sure Lundqvist is confident in his abilities and all but none of this is a surprise either and the Rangers already have given him more leeway in this situation than they had to (asking him if he wanted to be traded or not after starting the rebuild and respecting that decision that he made at the time).

Sure it kinda sucks for him and maybe he figured he'd still be the top goalie until his contract ran out and THEN someone would take over, but that's not how sports always work

Bruh. People are still bitching about Hugh Jessiman from SEVENTEEN YEARS AGO.
