He's such a goober. I hope Colorado doesn't win a thing and MacKinnon and Rantanen demand trades in a couple of years because their GM didnt make moves to improve their team for a run or two within their competitive window.
This is why I respect Rutherford. He knows his window is only open as long as he has his superstars so he's taking his shots while he has them. There has to be a balance between trying to win and having an eye on the future. Too far in either direction is not good and I feel like way too many GMs are too far in the cautious direction.

Colorado can be in that state of arrested development where they are good but need a kick over the finish line but never get it bc their GM is trying to be frugal.

Sometimes it's worth giving up some assets to take a shot at winning. Before you know it your team can not be very good anymore in a short time and the 1st round pick you didn't wanna give up busted anyway.

Truth is the GMs just don't want to get fired. Taking chances on trades leads to criticism and them getting fired.

He doesn't have to blow up. For as much as people complain about him, prorated over 82 games he's on a 51 point pace this season. 18-19 was a 49 point pace. 17-18 was a 48 point pace.

Pretty unlikely that those numbers will go down in his 26-28 year seasons.

Kreider, yes, this year is on a 64 point pace. 18-19 was a 54 point pace, and 17-18 was a 50 point pace. Seems pretty likely that Buch is a higher point producer than Kreider 3 years from now, let alone 5.
and what/how has he produced without Kreider?

same goes for Zibs.

I honestly don’t blame Colorado. Giving up one of their top two prospects for a rental who had no shot as resigning there isn’t a smart move. Bruins know this and must be licking their chops because they know they have a good chance of getting Kreider with a subpar package

There was a rumor flying around early in the season that the Flames might consider moving Gaudreau, but I'm pretty sure the team publicly squashed it. That was also when the Flames were struggling.

That being said, I think if they were going to deal him it would require a good, young top-six center coming back.

Pretty good...Byram notch above Miller...Buch notch above Kamenev....But whats the goal? Position wise you are in the same place
We get a true #1 LHD

turn around and move Skjei

Kravtsov replaces Buch
Kamemnev plays in the bottom6

The calm before the storm is palpable.

Can make a strong case that the impending series of decisions (and therefore transactions, one way or other) make this the most influential block of time in franchise history. We’re in good hands, but I’m anxious AF...

Buchnevich is quietly getting back to the points pace he has been known for

Unless he's being traded for a clear upgrade, I see no point in moving him
I’m with you he’s finally getting comfortable and smiling. And we know if your comfortable it will reflect on your work performance.

Same, I think you can probably sign him to a decent contract as well. Teams need guys like him in their top six...maybe he's not going to be a 60+ point player and dominate shifts and occasionalyl he'll have bad games, but he produces solid points and has done a good job being a forechecker and board work guy for his line. At 24 there's no reason to trade him now.

Nothing at this moment. I think resolving the Kreider situation is the top priority.

Do you get the sense that Gorton wants to resolve Kreider sooner rather than later? I ask because Bob mentioned last night that he was getting the sense that Gorton was hoping to play it down to the wire.

Thank you again, as always.
