this all makes no sense.

The Islanders want to be buyers for Kreider but don't want to trade a 1st because it might be a lottery pick?
I mean these things never make sense "we want this awesome player but we dont' want to give up anything for him" well shit then you don't really want him do you
I think it makes prefer sense. All posturing of course.

Sakic, Gorton & BOS GM (name escapes me atm) are doing the same.
All part of the game. We want XYZ
X, Y, Z are DEF off the table.

Somewhere in middle lies the return

Don Sweeney and yes this happens every year and people are still surprised.

Is the sticking point the length or AAV? Or both

From what I've heard there's a hesitation to go with 7 on either the salary of the years.

I think there's some wiggle room on the years, but so far they've been firm on the salary.

Will have to see if they blink.

It's very concerning, and I'd rather even have Kravtsov than Wally.

If he's a throw-in, not the main piece, my perspective changes.

At least with Kravtsov I think a whole lot has to do with him adjusting to a different play style than he's used to. I don't know what the deal is with Whalstrom. Even though people were worried he was riding on Hughes' coattails, he still seemed to have good fancy stats that predicted he'd be a good goal scorer. That said it's also still just his first real pro season

Who's to say you can't then flip Dobson for a young forward prospect?
H*ck, I'd be willing to guess there would be many teams very willing to engage in that conversation.

But I cannot see the Islanders trading Dobson to the Rangers.

I still like my 5 years at 7 wtih voidable years for eiteher side in years 6 and 7 along with a low base salary and some incentives to get him to 7 mill if he still can bring it in 2027.

This worries me.

I have a much bigger issue with the years than the money (which Im sure is going to come in around 7 mill, plus or minus a few k)

You like a contract that isn't legal under the CBA.

I think PDG Chytil, Kakko, Goat, and Lemmy are 5 players that make for a very strong bottom 6

Granted, with coming moves we likely end up seeing at least 1 of those players forced to be moved into the top 6.

well that depends on what happens with the top 6...when the dust settles after all the deals, chytil and kakko might be in the top 6.

Same.

7 years would be a hard no for me, and 6 years I would still be pretty uncomfortable with.

I'm prepping to be hurt.
